    I had a local, reputable pest control company bid me $1,000 for termite treatment, or $800, plus $102 every other month for termite plus all other pests. I'll break my back trenching and dispensing insecticide myself. Apparently, the termites go in to chew up wood then take it back out to a colony in yard to feed the queen and other termites. Thanks for concise and short video.

    You should also use a sprayer with the solution to soak the fill dirt as you put in back in the trench.

    It's 0.80 oz per gallon. But, I assume you are making a stronger mix for a reason, correct?

      That caught my attention too. So went back and re-read the MSDS sheet.
      Although the standard application is 0.8 per gallon, it also says for where severe termite infestations occur, where problem soils occur or where difficult or problem construction types are encountered, it may be advisable to use either 0.09% or 0.125% concentration.

    Great video. I did the same thing last spring and will be touching up the area around my home with the same solution but using a pump sprayer this time around for touch up purposes.

    Very Good. Saves a lot of money. The soil around my house is hard desert sand and trenching and pouring the correct amount per section and letting it soak evenly is the most difficult part. I wore some long sleeve black thick gloves so I did not splash the liquid in side them, also old clothes and boots which I disposed of after the application. " I recommend you remove all the expansion joint material around your garage to slab and treat that area also". I found a ton of termites nested in the expansion joint material, maybe the old gray material had something it it that the Termites eat?

    Great how-to video. Also wear recommended PPE - especially disposable gloves.

      Yeah definitely. Its a strong neurotoxin. Strong enough to cripple furry animals at low doses. You dont want to mess w this it.

    Nice video.
    I would suggest to use the plastic measuring cup to measure 6.4 oz of WATER, or how ever much.
    Then pour the water into a paper cup.
    Mark the level of the water in the paper cup.
    Then use the paper cup to dole out the Taurus SC.
    So you don't waste a good plastic measuring cup.

    nice video, should probably be wearing personal protective equipment when dealing with the chemical.

      You should always consider the safety of a particular chemical in the concentrations that you are working with along with the types of animals that could be exposed to it. It's always safest to err on the side of caution, but fipronil is a widely used insecticide that is currently considered relatively safe for use around humans.

    Someone is suppose to be doing termite treatment for my home and he is using "Taurus SC" around the perimeter of my home, not drilling the garage. This is what is proposed and is this good enough for a 3300 sq ft home? "Termite Treatment - Exterior & Crawl spaceTermite Treatment using Taurus SC- Trench and Treatment interior and exterior of crawlspace- Garage, front porch, and the walkway along the back of the house will be waived- Retreat warranty for $150 per year for the next five years" The other termite service using Termidor HE will do this:"Full termite treatment consisting of trenching the exterior and the crawlspace & drilling all foundation slabs and blocks for termiticide application. Includes damage and retreatment warranty for first year. Renewable upon completion of annual inspection."Which termite service do you recommend in the two examples above? Thanks!!

      When you say they will not drill the garage do you mean the portion of the garage that's next to the foundation of the house? I would go with the company that will drill and treat under all of the slabs. I'm not sure how good the warranty is though. Get a 3rd quote.

    • @tightwadtv3421
      @tightwadtv3421  2 роки тому

      This shouldn't be a problem as long as the chemical has time to soak in before getting rained on. However, the more the area gets rained on over the next few years does matter. It's up for debate on how soon a reapplication is needed in wetter and faster draining soils.

    Thanks for the video, but I have a question. Me and a friend did this, we dug a trench around the house and added the taurus sc. About five days after doing this it started raining a lot. It rained for about a day and it flooded the whole yard. Will this ruin the taurus from killing the termites with all this extra water around the house? Could not find any info on the insturction manual.

    • @tightwadtv3421
      @tightwadtv3421  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure. You may want to contact the manufacturer or seller to see what they say about it. It can stand up to rain and wet soils or this would never last for any period of time, but standing water may be different. Logic tells me that you are probably okay unless the soil around the house got washed away.

      I'm no expert on this, I'm just a home-gamer. If you don't have good access to the dirt next to your foundation/slab because of sidewalks etc. you may need to consult professionals.
