      The rod I used in the beginning is a Phenix trifecta lite model 1003 1/4-3/4oz.

    Yo Mike the longer the leader will a make difference or doesn’t matter?

      3 feet is usually my standard. If I pop it off the bottom it “trails” the weight fairly nicely. Anything too short tends to get bound up quickly.

    Hey Mike nice vid!
    Question for ya: (I'm very new, caught (and released) my first perch today) ... and i'm trying to figure out what to do when I catch to eat.
    After you caught the perch, did you kill it and clean it there on the beach, or stun it and put it on ice until you got home, or something else?

    • @mikestacklebox
      @mikestacklebox  Рік тому

      Hey Marcus thanks for tuning in. Usually I will either cut the kills in some cases the Ike jime. Even the basic bonk technique is fine. As far as keeping them as fresh as possible I have a small mesh equipment bag with the draw strings to attach to my sling bag. That way the water can cool them as much as possible.

    I’m about to try this recipe, how long did you have it in the grill for?

    • @mikestacklebox
      @mikestacklebox  Рік тому

      About 15-20min at 350deg. also depends what size perch too. Have fun enjoy..

    Butterfly open and bbq on scales side. Don't flip them just one side on indirect heat,. Peel the entire ribs and spine out and separate from meat. Then you.make Udon noodle stock with bones fat and meat. Throw the skin out. Use the meat to make gyoza filling with chives and ginger etc. They are ok but texture can be too soft
