This amplifier isn’t an amplifier. It’s Einsteins chronosphere device because it’s a Time Machine. It literally felt like I went back in time and heard a full stack Marshall at all the concerts of history.
I bought one new at GC but ended up returning it. I absolutely love the tone of this amp. It sounds incredible. However, it had horrible vibration rattle coming from inside. I could not detect exactly where it was coming from. I didn't notice it at the store because the place was noisy to begin with. It really bummed me out. Maybe I will keep my eye open for another one.
…and then there’s Mark Bartel’s latest high end amps. Oh good lord do they sound on another level to Tone King. Worthy successors for sure but only really for those with deep pockets or a good eye ready to pounce on the used market 😊
I’ve got a tone king falcon prototype 3 completely built by mark in his old shop in Baltimore. Got it at CME used and pot was static so I bought it but asked them to pull the chassis and clean it and make sure it was ok. When they opened it up it was filled out with sharpie by mark saying the date and prototype 3. I emailed mark and he promptly replied and told me all about it. Said he built four prototypes for marketing pics ect. He even built the cabinets himself. So damn cool. And he’s such a class act and was so good of him to respond. I’ll never let go of that amp. And it just kills. Beautiful
Well where to start….first I was blown away with the AMP and figure gotta have…..BUY BUY BUY ….then 9:54 rolled around, after I heard that I was like, remind me again why do I even bother playing this instrument, awesome playing. …
Agreed - i had a Tone King Gremlin and no doubt its a great little amp, my Carr Mercury V did everything it did and a whole lot more. You can get a used gremlin combo for close to $1000, so it's definitely a great option at that price point.
@@neilkorsgaard Yup, but price wasn't being considered. I'm not interested in compromising to save money, though the Gremlin is definitely not a bad amp at all. I might even have gone with a Bartel if I could have found one to try out locally.
I think you underestimate how loud 5 watts can be. Specially at the volume necessary to achieve that tone. The attenuator fixes that. Thats the selling point.
Great selection of lead and rythym lead riffs, I am going to have to learn the blues progression you did
I love my Gremlin ! You made it sound awesome!
Great video and playing...and this amp sounds definitely awesome, thanks & welldone !
Can't go wrong with a Tone King.👍

Wow, what a tone. Are they the original pickups in the Les Paul ?
Yes all original!

Sounds better than the fender custom 57 champ, that’s for sure! That thing has the worst sounding OD! This sounds great
I got 7 amps. Never use the rest again after getting one of these bad boys!!
Did you get the head and cab or the combo?
@@jap5451 combo.
I dunno, throwing the hyperbole around pretty hard here. My Carr and Swart would have words with you.
My Dad's bigger than your Dad hey 🤣
@@johnbarlow8234 Really though, I have 3 amps that sound better than this. It’s not bad but this thing hasn’t even got reverb.

Isn’t a Carr double the price?

Its not popular because the price. Pretty stiff for what it is.
You know it would be nice for once if they ever show gear that I wouldn't have to sell my organs to buy , home amp pfft
Idk, I like my Fillmore 25
Not sure why you would need an attenuator on a 5 watt amp or why its a selling point

@@waltgracevintage8620 I have a few five watt amps, it's probably just because I'm used to playing 30 and 40 amps.
Relax Jimi Hendrix
So you can get great sound without bothering others. Even without people sleeping 5 watts can be really loud in an apartment.
I bought this Gremlin in tourquse colour. 5 watt tube: very loud
I use in my home only with attenuation minus 24dB
too bright to my, sounds even metalic
Great amp, but the tone in this recording is awful. Way too much "room."
A 57 alone sounds so boring brother, room mic lets you know what it’s like sitting with the rig. I dig it.
