    I absolutely love mine, had it for like 4 months and it's got 5500miles on it. super super fun in the gravel, around town and in the mountains. With a windshield and handguards it's even ok on the highway.

    Good intro as usual dude. I really dig the black and yellow scheme more than the red. There is always a perception about Ducatis, but people never really know it until they actually ride one. Its definitely not a beginner bike. Also, this bike melts into corners. A lot of people buy Groms, but I would personally buy this one for wifey. It has a lot of personality and one of the best customizable bikes.

    Bought one as my 1st bike, and I drive it on the highway regularly. The wind isn't that intimidating, especially if you have a decent jacket on. I've only had 1 false neutral on it ever. It's been a great bike thus far.

    I've only sat on one but I did feel it was a bit small for my 6foot frame. I was a mega fan boy up until then. Then I kind of figured out it was a little small for me. Oh well... XSR700 fanboy time! I fit on the fz-07 and that's what it is basicly with different body work. Heres a question for you mr chase, fz-07 vs scrambler.

    In case anyone is wondering its a 803cc engine with 75 hp @ 8250 rpm and 5+ lb-ft of torque @ 5750 rpm

  • @Jimbo-in-Thailand
    @Jimbo-in-Thailand 9 років тому +3

    The way you kept talking about how small it is I thought it must be sporting a 200-300cc engine. Had to Google it. In fact it's an 803cc L-twin and that's why it has so much torque. As a hipster I love the retro styling... and - NO Tupperware - giving a nice feel of the wind on the bod letting you know you're cruisin'. Good Gawd I want to ride one! Oh well, next time I'm in Pattaya since there's a Ducati dealership there.

  • @michaelbagrevandian3725
    @michaelbagrevandian3725 9 років тому

    My buddy picked this up a few weeks ago for his first bike. I rode it home from the dealer and took a little joy ride as well. This thing is so much fun. I love it! I'm contemplating switching out of sport bikes and this would be up there, but I need more power. I'm pretty set on going with the Ducati Streetfighter.

    Love my scrambler. It’s comfy and fun for around town. Throttle has a great smile factor. Pulls hard but I find it manageable and I’m a beginner. Went from a Wr250r to this and while it’s WAY more powerful it’s manageable. Mine doesn’t have the false neutral. Heard it goes away after break in

    It's 6 years later.... and I just bought a used 2015 scrambler as my first bike. Previous experience: rode the 250cc at the MSF course as my first ride ever and then got on this). It is indeed quite torquey haha.
    I'm surviving and it's fun (I also raced bicycles for a long time so might help). Under a week on the thing but I've managed a dirt road. Probably gonna get a torque tamer for it in a month or two if I haven't mastered that immediate launch torque.
    In hindsight I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner bike, but I'm happy with it. Plenty of bike to grow into and don't need a second bike. (Also at the price I got it I could resell in a year and probably be flat.)

  • @tonymoulls
    @tonymoulls 9 років тому

    Chase, I own a Ducati scrambler and yes the torque is unbelieveable for such a small bike! I'm 5ft 1" and i have fitted the lowered seat which lowers the seat height from 790mm to 770mm and i'm on tippy toes!
    This is my first big bike, only ever owned a 125cc motorcycle and then scooters before hand..... You've got to be careful alright! But once you get used to that responsive throttle and the torque... My god it's one hell of a bike to ride! Perfect round town, super fun on the twisties but on a motorway when doing 70-80mph the wind hits you like a brick wall!
    Thanks for the video man, was nice seeing another motovlogger review this bike :)

    I really wanted to see it on the freeway. You should definitely make that a priority on future videos since freeway performance is a "need to know" type thing when it comes to reviewing bikes. I also didn't notice you mention the displacement. Luckily I found out from the comments that it was 803cc which theoretically should be plenty for the freeway but it would have been nice to have that confirmed.

    It looks a lot like a cafe racer or something. Very cool!
    Also, I think Chase has been spoiled by water cooled engines. This one is air cooled and would explain why it felt so hot between the legs. :)

    • @paradigmstorytime

      David F. A scrambler is basically a cruiser/standard motorcycle and giving it a lift kit to make it behave more like a dirt-bike. A cafe racer is a cruiser/standard with clip-ons and rear-set pegs to make it handle more like a sport bike.

    Rode a 2017 Scrambler. Thing was a box full of false-neutrals, couldn’t see the gauges for the glare and it just made me miss my Honda.

    75HP 50 ft lbs 31 inch seat height 410lbs wet... twice as much power as the WR450 40lbs less weight.
    You gotta remember it's a slightly detuned 803cc air cooled Monster engine, and a typical Ducati twin so yes it's going ot have gobs of torque all through the power band which is pretty much right off idle to redline.
    That model is called the Classic, a direct throwback to the bikes from the 60s and 70s. The "Army one" is called the Urban Enduro.

    Again, just as I said for the KTM, It's a twin baby. They are ALL TORQUE! BUT ducati have sold their soul for beauty and the magic of making an engine that has uber torque down low, but still a shit load of top end... scary how GOOD Ducatis actually are.
    Oh BTW It gets hot because its air cooled.

    Excellent video. I took a demo ride on the Scrambler a week ago and can attest to everything you say. I'm 5'10" and the bike was good for me size wise. Talk about torque, yes. Power, yes. Fun, oh yes. I would love to have one of these. Probably not a good choice if you have one bike unless it's just around town. Although, I could live with it even as a commuter. Don't know what the aftermarket options are for the bike but a small screen would likely do wonders if riding a lot at higher speeds. Thanks for the video.

      +0616ko I took this and the Street Twin back to back on test rides. The Duc has some competition now. ST is much smoother at higher speeds and has a great sounding stock exhaust. ST also costs less money. Duc Scrambler is more fun to goof around on, however, I found. Scrambler went up $500 this year for no reason. They didn't change or add anything :(
      But I loooove that Ducati motor!

    1. I'd be interested in hearing the Full Throttle version that comes with Termignoni pipes.
    2. I'm pretty sure the height adjustment is accomplished by pushing on the mirror itself instead of moving the full casing.
