I know it doesn’t have traditional Monster styling. But I like it. My wife got me a SP for my birthday, and I’ve been loving it. I don’t have the talent, or desire to push a 150-200HP bike. For its size and weight, the 111 HP seems like enough to me.
I picked up a new to me 2021 monster 937 with 1800 miles for $8500 back in April. So much fun. I love it. Anything over $10000 and I would have probably not bought it. I use it for street riding around KC and work commute.
There is “two” versions of the base. I say “two” because the plus is just a seat cowl and a tiny bikini fairing that blocks wind from hitting your speedo. But you can get them fairly discounted. I saw one new going for $10.5 last month
One has a single cylinder and for some reason the other is a 2 cylinder. Check it out. Weird shit because I believe the Single cylinder is actually higher HP!
I love my Monster SP, it’s my first bike and just did the ARC with it and leaning it over and really exploring with it was a blast. As a short rider the height definitely took some time to get used to but it really isn’t that bad. Over all it just always makes me smile and the exhaust is lovely. Such a playful bike
Yammie liked your comment about latest parallel twins with 270 cranks trying to have the sound and feel of a v twin. You appear to enjoy the proper v twin. For me a long time ago bought a Yamaha TRX 850 twin in 1996 with a 270 crank (available in the UK not sure about the US). Nice sound and nice vibe enjoyed the bike 80bhp however snatchy below 4k in 4th or 5th gear and limited to 8500rpm. Traded it in for a Suzuki TL1000S. Oh my goodness proper 90 Degree v twin with 125bhp that pulled all the way to 10,500 rpm.
That's precisely why I didn't buy it. I already had a MT07, and sold it. This year I was planning on buying the monster, the only Ducati I can afford, but I won't give 14000$ for a bike that looks like a 8000$ MT07.
I have a 2019 Monster 1200 25th Anniversario (Only 500 were made and only 100 came to the states) to me the last Gen 1200's were the pinnacle of the Monster evolution they were the muscle cars of motorcycles, it's a shame they went away from them. Thanks for sharing Yammie 🤘😎🏍
I picked up a 22 monster as my second bike I traded In my sportster 883 after all dealer fees out the door for 7500 so not bad love the bike it’s fun and glad to see papa yam do a review on the bike
Hey Yammie! My names Skyler Sanem and I just wanted to let you know I’ve been watching you for a long time now, I think since 2018, and your videos have helped me through a lot of bad stuff, and I’ve had an extremely rough year, I’d like to go riding with you sometime if you’re ever near Iowa!
I heard chatter that the mono engine is being lined up for a sports bike, which I thought was odd, as you were the only person I'd heard mention the idea before that (I think it was on MotoBob's channel). It would be pretty great, though.
10:56 "Middleweight"?! It's amazing how performance levels have moved on in 30 years. This latest Monster has just 3bhp less power and 3lb-ft more torque than the original 916. And yet it still meets the latest Euro 5 emission limits.
The streetfiighter v2 is so much more bike. More power and better in so many ways. I have a monster and will be selling it for a V2 streetfiighter soon.
I test rode the Supersport 950 S. Same setup but so much more comfy. I absolutely love that bike but it is just overpriced at 18k IMO. Especially since 2 years ago it was 2k cheaper than it is now and is exactly the same. Makes no sense. That being said the quality felt unlike other bikes. It just feels really premium
I hate how they couldn't keep any of the old trellis aethestic. Is the weight savings really worth that? Were customers really aching for a 40lb weight reduction? I'll stick with my 620 and 1200.
8/10 1 gear lesss shorter whellbase thpugh is more stsble in fast corner but less nimble in very slow 👌🏻 lil more tprq lil less topend power now have 93 nm 111 hp i wpuld like more 100 nm 100 hp with peak torq at lower rpm than 6800 still much better characterisitc than in me cb no doubt anyways perfect somewhere sround 5000 rpm with pesk torq like for me taste 😉 👌🏻 and 10/10 dont know about weight distribution though if have alot less than 50% at front than i give this bike 7/10 👌🏻
It would’ve been nice had you actually spoke about the performance characteristics of this bike instead of complain about how the new Monster fits, or doesn’t, into Ducati’s lineup. You mention you spent the morning riding it. I assume you did more than ride it on suburban streets as you did in your video. You gave the Monster SP seven stars. Your begrudging review doesn’t rate that high.
Where is the review?!! Half the review you are talking about your scrambler ! The other half you just talking crap about positioning of the bike and psychology of a buyer! Talk about riding experience and what do you like and not like please. How does it feel on highways twisty and urban? What's the power at the mid range and top end and low range! What about the suspension and break power!
@@robertrossi9374 I had a street fighter at the time but I’m in love with the hyper mono. I have plans to pair it with a Mt-09 SP. Supermotos are for sure my favorite category now, especially fancy Supermotos lol. How about you?
The Monster took the aesthetic from the Honda Hawk 650. It did not start the naked movement, it stole it from honda. Honda had the single sided swing arm, and tried, but was too ahead of its time.
Don't like it. Prefer previous iterations of Monster-ness. I mean, yeah it performs. But it's missing that 'je ne sais quoi' feeling that I used to get just looking at a Monster. Meh. Seriously. I am getting too old. I feel like I'm shaking my fist at a cloud. Ignore me. Get one. Ride it. Bah!

Street fighter killed the Monster 1200. That was a beast.

congrats, fun bike

Honda hawk gt NT650 started the category. Sv650 and monsters were a copy of it
I had an NT 650 Hawk. Probably my favorite bike I’ve owned.
I like that it kind of looks like a big red MT-07.

I have an SP. It’s a fantastic bike.
Same, couldn’t agree more!
How yes, I only have ride it one time in my life and fall in love with the motor, I dont love how it look but now I want one for ride it haha

Just got back from a track day, was on my yellow street triple 765 rs. This bike destroys all the other middleweights, MT09 sp included, on the track.

You can rev bomb” in gear with the clutch, just not neutral.
I would rather get the Speed Triple. Ducati also got rid of the single sided swingarm.
When I think of the Ducati Monster, I think of the cool af trellis frame and the silhouette.
I heard chatter that the mono engine is being lined up for a sports bike, which I thought was odd, as you were the only person I'd heard mention the idea before that (I think it was on MotoBob's channel). It would be pretty great, though.
Tbh, if they made a sv650 like monster, they could cover low and mid range fairly easily I think.
I got a 2016 monster. Its nice to see you can still only see your elbows in the mirrors lol

It’s more lightweight weighing in only at 410 with fuel, ready to ride.

Just get a supersport. If you're feeling really adventurous, chop the fairing down a bit and expose that awesome trellis frame.
I by no means dislike it, but for $5,000 less, you get more power and an absolutely awesome bike in the Street Triple R.
If I wanted a somewhat sporty v twin like the monster I'd get an Indian ftr 1200. Similar price but much more bike and much sexier.
I feel like this gives off duke vibes. It's a between the 390 and 790
"which one should I buy", Ahahahahah, it don't matter because you buy a Ducati for the badge. Just buy the one with the biggest badge. Ahahahah.
100% looks like a MT07
Yes, what a stupid marketing mistake.
remember when 20 grand got you the best of the best of the best? Pepperidge farm remembers

looks like an MV Agusta
Ducati needs a solid middle weight around 6-700cc

3:14 ive never heard such a weird exhaust note. Im not a Ducati fan really. They dont have a single bike that gives me the wow factor
Ride a diavel, watching videos does no justice
🎉WOW LOOKS JUST LIKE A 2014 HONDA CB1000R
Unfortunately, it looks much more like an MT07
Yeah, I thought it had a single sided swing arm but doesn't
Its ok.. nice and nimble - the Hyper 950 SP is more fun

Ducati belongs to the VW / Audi group
1 min gang 😎
I would never buy the monster just because of that red pimple thing between the bars

Yep, it was the same for me.... what did you replace it with?

Why this instead of mt09????
Ahh. So nothing but flexing the name of Ducati... got it

Do you post this on every video?
Got your view within 50 seconds and that’s all you should worry about
Its a Sunday night.
Brings a pen gauge
Then reps an electric portable gauge
Sus 🤨
Woah! 25 seconds ago!
Sigh... this bike is so disappointing. They should have kept making the 1200S.
That’s not a Monster. That’s an overpriced Asian bike with Ducati stickers. The real Monster had trellis frame and dry clutch.
Thank god. I wish the "non revbombing" function was mandatory on every bike.
Youve lost your marbles lil bro 😂

So the Ducati Monster is gender fluid. Way to go 😕
first
Nooooooob!
Not a monster anymore
Why would you buy a motorcycle in 2024 that you can’t rev bomb
It doesn’t limit revs when you’re in gear . Just neutral
'Real monster', not with that ass ugly frame it isn't.
Monster was coined because the engine was a beast and the thing ripped wheelies, ducati killed the monster its sad....

damn you lol
