The best part is you know Jack was being completely serious
That's what I was thinking
1000th like
Robert plant most likely saw this and said sure why not it’s Jack
I got chills watching this
Watching this just now for the first time, I could totally tell by the context that this wasn't just meant to be funny or something, and that it was definitely for real. It has his normal comedic feel/approach we all know and love, incorporated in with his actual legit request. I think that's awesome how he did this!
I love how genuine JBs love for rock is. I'm sure that helped him out a lot to be able to play that song for the movie.
He’s a rockstar himself
Don't sleep on Tenacious D
That songs actually super easy
@@Sara-qk2rs I didn't say it wasn't lol. I'm just saying I bet he was honored to be allowed to play it
@@Syv_ Tenacious D slaps hard
I love how someone in the crowd answered him when he said “Robert Plant”, the dude was like, “YES”
YES
"Yeahp!!" 😂
Name is THAT legendary to trigger such a reaction
I thought he was in the crowd for a minute
That was Robert Plant
Jack Black still has the passion for rock that I had back in the 80's ---- music was my life back then!
Great 💥
Why isn't it still?
🍪
Me in the 90s
I know the feeling. However, music will always be my entire life. Literally until the day I die. Zeppelin is my all-time favorite band, but I love a lot of different music!
Music has gotten me through good times and a whole lot of bad times. It has even saved my life at times. It's like a lover that you know will never leave you. That's why my worst fear is going deaf. When asked if one would rather go deaf or blind, most people choose deaf. Not me. I honestly do not know what I'd do if I didn't have music. It is absolutely my entire life.
"Without that song? It can't roll"
‘TO BE A ROCK, AND NOT TO ROOOOOOOLLLLLLL!’
TRULY a missed opportunity. that would’ve been legendary
Without that song we can't rock, without that song the credits won't roll! 🤘
Without that song everything will crumble, the entire show will break and when the levee breaks, i'll have no place to stay
@@sean_mccadden
we'll watch the watch the dogs of doom howl and moan
They accepted because they know he wasn't asking because the producers asking him to, Jack Black genuinely wanted that song, which is why school of rock is one of the best movies of all time
Definitely not one of the best movies of all time😂😂😂. Wtf lol nostalgia is too strong with this one.
There's always one piece of fecal matter in the comments. Thanks for identifying yourself right away, @ShinobiDrip999
Opinions honey, not everyone agrees. @@ShinobiDrip999
@@ShinobiDrip999 I wasn't even born around the time school of rock came out I believe and the movie is absolutely one of my favorites and personally in like the top twenty best movies of all time so clearly nostalgia has nothing to do with it
I remember Jack Black screaming at the top of his lungs through most of that movie why does he sound so quiet
Sincerity
Because through out your life, the most important things you will ever say you will say quietly
That’s just how Jack Black is Sam Kinison was the same way He would scream at the top of his lungs during a performance then was quiet as a mouse when he wasn’t performing💯
He was pleading with the Gods
he's not playing a character i guess lol
Jack Black is a national treasure
Dude 😎....yes He is awesome in School of Rock
@@JasonGonish There’re even movies that are not very good at all-and he’s still awesome in them!
He needs to be protected at all costs.❤
@@66Sixxy lord pls 🙏

I loved the Iron Maiden bumper sticker on the inside of the passenger door...

And the megadeth sticker
And the Cannibal Corpse sticker in the apartment 🤘🏻
@@heyimgoingtoplaysomegames Exactly what I was going to comment!
gross. it went from classic rock to classic shlop. how do you go from zep to cannibal corpse?! its like a whole different country let alone sport.
Jack is a true student and lover of the game. I'm almost positive those guys are fans of Tenacious D. This was an honorable way to make the request. I'm taking notes🙏💙
That’s crazy! My introduction to rock and Led Zeppelin originated from that one scene growing up
Wow! Really? I’m glad that you found them. They still Rock!
Right on! Mine was 1978 15 years old hearing Van Halen eruption for the first time
@@jmm1817 Dude, that's one hell of an intro. I was born in 1982, but I have idolized Eddie Van Halen for pretty much literally my whole life. My mom has told me about me being very small, and a new Van Halen song would come on, and I would say, "Is that Eddie?" Lol.
Man I love Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. I'm also a massive fan of the grunge Era especially Alice in Chains. Just don't make music like that anymore.
@@1Toyotamaster music changes as time advances and we are no longer in that time anymore but lucky the internet exists
Using Jack Black for that movie was the right move, his love for Rock is real and it shows
Jack Black will play the role of Ozzy when they finally make the Ozzy movie.
He’ll have to get skinny first… then he won’t even be Jack Black anymore😭
He's a little too old to do that now.
I'm waiting for it
Who would play randy Rhoads though...
Who would play Harriet. Lol.
“Without this song this movie will crumble” gave me chills
*Jack Black's performance,* in the movie, during the "Immigrant Song" has *NEVER failed to make me crack up* EVERY SINGLE TIME 😂
Jack Black is such a kind hearted, genuine dude. The world needs more people like him.
It's in the DVD extras, such a cool touch
Yes!! I remember seeing the whole thing in the dvd extras some 15-ish years ago. God I’m old.
@@ManubibiWalsh we might be the same age actually so at least we're old together!
The "We Love You" right after "The greatest rock band of all time" 👍👏
Jack B, you and Danny Trijo! Heroes! Thanx Man!!
This movie, the scene from the van, is why I love that song so much. Born in 1995 and grew up with a father from 57. I love classic rock. That song is the most iconic song from the movie
Same, my dad was born in'56
The Immigrant song is about my country Iceland.
It's a nice country.
You come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow?
@@WutThaFuh I think that is indeed what he’s saying. That was my late wife’s favorite song of all time! Thank you very much, Jack Black.

On he sweeps,
with threshing oar
His only goal will be
our western shore
Ah-ah, ah!

The hammer of his gods
Will drive his ships to our lands
To fight the woke,
and make them cry
Iceland, I am praying...
Please come soon
Ah-ah, ah!
Ah-ah, ah!

I’m so glad that Zeppelin agreed to let them use that song.
With that blue light im getting Princess Leia vibes.
"Help me Robert Plant, your my only hope."
He is right they are the greatest rock band of all time
This movie was directed by Richard linklater, director of Dazed N confused, boyhood, everybody wants some, and an underrated classic called waking life. He’s one of my favorite directors.
I watched Waking Life at the perfect time (age 18, literally the day before I started university) and it changed the way I thought about almost everything.
Thanks for the tip! This 62-year-old lady is going to watch one of those tonight!🤍
Jack Black is genuinely one of my favorite people to ever exist
This "Immigrant song" scene in the movie was iconic. That's what made old music click with me when I was a kid in 00's. After watching School of rock I went into the rabbit hole of exploring 70s and 80s music, no regrets there, so huge thanks to Jack Black for fighting for the rights to use those songs.
That's awesome to hear. I was a teen when the movie came out and I've been obsessed since. Now my kids regularly watch the movie...we know every line😂
I remember my jaw dropping when I first watched this in the bonus features of School of Rock.
I remember when Shrek asked them the same thing in front of the entire kingdom of far far away.

@@space_1073 Fun fact, Scientists say Boomers will live longer than your generation and have easier access to Real Estate than your generation.
Sucks to be you.
How does that feel?
@@nostradamus7648 you mean economists, and that’s because boomers inherited the most wealth of any generation in human history and still managed to single-handedly ruin the chances of anyone ahead of them irreversibly. You’re logic and internet comments are so nonsensical I can’t even tell if it’s just trolling or you’re actually 70.
I don’t think Jack Black even had much acting to do in this film - dude was being himself, or at least it felt that way, with his genuine love for rock and roll and ability to be endearing. This is my favourite movie of all time and I’m so glad they got Immigrant Song in it - this movie was actually my introduction to it! And now I love it to death
That’s how I first found the band when I was a kid, because I loved that snippet so much. Definitely a good call!
I love this movie. It touched my heart and threw gasoline on the fire that is my love for music

My favorite movie just under Detroit Rock City 😁
And oh yeah...

Restaurated aka all walls taken down - where they broke throug my wall - vs mine , who was just patched up, 15 years ago.
So it shows.

So no new contracts etc. )
They don't sell any DVD's anymore at the place next to me.
And if Mr. Jack Black asks...it should be given, because it 'll be used in a good way.
JB and KG are also gods of rock, after all they wrote the greatest and best song in the world.................................

Shame they forgot what it was though :(
I love just in the middle of it he's like, "This doesn't actually sound anything like that song!" And then it just like goes right into another chorus 🤣🤣

Jack Black knows who the greatest is
Didn't know about plea by Jack Black but reaction by the members of Led Zeppelin (let them use the song) not surprising. Need to remember that Led Zeppelin helped fund the production of another (cult classic) movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail so they certainly have good taste ;-D!
When jack black calls for aid, you must heed that call
Some things behind the scenes are important and heroic. Jack Black took a risk.
Jack Black is always going 100%!
That's awesome a good story with a happy ending and Jack Black let the truth be told Zeppelin is the greatest band ever
Hands up to the director for caring, producer's and directors most of the time give up on little details like this!
There can ever be too many “AAAAOOOOOOOWS” from the audienxe
Super respect for Jack Black to acknowledge & recognize Led Zeppelin as the GOAT ... in all endearing, loving deference to The Beatles, who established the baseline, they were a pop band. Few of their hits were rock, let alone hard rock (Revolution?)
I love Jack black energy
Classic movie with classic music
Dude, I was literally BORN the same year this film came out. Crazy, right?
Timeless!!😊
I just love Jack Black TALENTED
His delivery of melodrama is superb. “….this movie will crumble.” So good.
And it is still a freaking sick song !
The classic music in this movie 100% made the whole thing. Without those legendary tracks, it just would’ve felt hollow.
He wasn't wrong. That song was necessary
Great movie, School of Rock! Interesting bit about Jack Black securing right to use their songs.
Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band that ever existed or ever will exist
The more I learn about him, the more I like
I LOVE JACK BLACK!!!
SO TALENTED ❤❤❤
Used to love listening to Led Zeppelin 50 years ago, usually in a softly lit room, late at night, lieing on brightly covered mattresses, with a round coffee table in the centre of the room, the Buddha stick Smoke and tripping out on the music, the lyrics and the creativity that described through harmonies and tones the amazing universe and our interaction with it.
His name was young J B and he refused to step in line
A vision he did see fucking rocking all the time
He wrote a tasty jam and all the planets did align
Oh the dragons balls were blazin as I stepped Into his cave, and I sliced his fucking cockles, with a long and Shiney blade
Oh, the dragon's balls were blazing
As I stepped into his cave
And I sliced his fucking cock off
With a long and shiny blade
It was I, who fucked a dragon....
Fuckalizing...
Fuckaloo...
And if you try to fuck with me
Then I shall

Such a good movie.
my fav band i’m so glad he knew they were the best
Had John and Robert in my Taxi.🥰
I have seen "School Of Rock" play and they ALWAYS nail the songs. It's amazing what younger people can do with a little coaching.
Jack Black is a legend you gotta love the man he is pure will and musicality
without this we might have never gotten the beautiful moments from Thor Ragnarok

There was a Led Zeppelin song in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". "Kashmir" plays in the car as Mark takes Stacy to a restaurant on their first date.

Love Jack Blacks energy.
Does anyone else ever just close their eyes when Jack sings and picture Po the panda?
Jack Black hats off to You and Led Zeppelin knew You were serious and true to Your passion for real Rock and Roll Legends
He should've said Bonham Spirt
Yeah, I don’t know why he wouldn’t talk about the best drummer ever 🤷♂️
@@retrored5606 because he was addressing the band directly and it would maybe even feel fake to call out to Bonham as well. (agree on the best rock drummer part tho)
Bonham was dead for 23 years at that point and he was directly asking those members to use the song. It would have made no sense if he mentioned him in this. If he was just talking about the band I'm sure he would have mentioned him though
@@retrored5606 Because it wasn't a RUSH ask.
It was a Zeppelin ask.
Neil Peart was busy.
@@nostradamus7648 I've seen Perts set up, and he's got a lot of different drums but, Bonham easily out classes with a regular drum kit. It's about soul and no gimmick. Pert is spectacular at drums and all the extra bells and whistles and that's a lot to keep track of. Maybe Pert was a better drummer but Bonham had the soul.
I LOVE JACK AND ZEP!!!

This explains the "No Stairway" scene in Wayne's World
when the Dazed and Confused movie was made, they wanted to use the song Dazed and Confused. I think Page and Jones were ok with it, but Plant didn't want them to use it
Something about the movie being too commercialized with a ton of celebrities and plant felt people would just assume and associate the song with the movie.
I like that he didn't need the money to be a sellout. Gd I love ledzep
@@sethredden3513 I don't think anyone in the movie was really that famous until after it came out.
