Well planned and executed, I agree it is worth it by setting traps to make things easier. I used a proximity bomb on the Nero building at the sawmill to take out the guy you have to chase there and get his bandana I think. Saves the hassle of chasing him all over the place and doesn't risk disturbing the horde. Got that tip from Rex. Great video as always. 😊
That's a good way to do that mission Darryl. I personally just make sure when I first see him that I'm ready to go into focus mode quickly, and I simply pepper him with bullets. Even if the horde hear, they are too far away to get to you quickly.
@@borislav247 First time I did that mission I hunted all over the place only for him to spot the horde and shoot at them. I ran away and came back later to collect the bounty. Players like you teach others alot about this great game.
@darryl280 I plant two proximity bombs on top of the Nero trailer where Two Dogs spawns. As long as you do that before inspecting the body in front of the tent, it works every time! No chasing him towards the Sawmill horde.
This preparation with traps is worth it. On hard difficulty I failed the mission at least 2 times. It's hard to keep track of all the enemies when all this chaos starts. Thank you for your efforts and time spent to create this easy completion of this mission. I wish you always a good mood and good health.
I chuckled out loud when you placed the remote bomb down in the Ripper camp. It's absolutely brilliant. I also have a wonderful sense of direction in this game. It's the only thing stopping me from playing on Survival II.
I show the video of the easy escape method from the ripper compound in a couple of weeks time DMT, and honestly, that 1 remote bomb is all that is required to make this escape so easy as I have a very good quick route there now.
Good stuff L8D. Just remember that you can head over to plant the traps at the Dam far later than I show on this video, as a few missions take place after I have planted the explosives. Heading off after picking up Skizzos rifle is a very good time (nearer the Dam mission) to get the job ready.
You call it ' The dam mission ' and I called it ' The damned mission ' in my playthrough lol. You certainly made it look easy and Boozer almost got out of it with full health. Quite the thrill ride , I'm just loving it. Another great video to add to your resume my friend !

Well that brought bk memories! Not often I go through games multiple times but I did this one 3 times, easy, medium and hard I think. The dam was tricky but the saw mill was terrifying!! Feeling the urge to go again now, well played sir!!
Honestly jumping straight to hard after easy with ng+ is easier than easy was first time round. Only downfall is can't mark enemies with binoculars, but superior health/stamina/focus/weapons/recipes more than makes up for that plus prior game play knowledge
That was most enjoyable, Boris. I always get sweaty palms when doing that mission. I've already opened up the Nero check point in that region by rock climbing, so I'm going to try this method.

I'd already done this. I'm doing my own extreme playthrough but I'm not so hot at shooting on point as you, so I'm doing a melee, the shit junk handgun, crossbow and throwables on survival 2. At the god damn mission i put even more stuff down than this and really let them have it. Good vid to share for the community mate. Keep them coming.
I really loved your 9mm SAF playthrough and want to suggest a reward weapon only challenge like the horde killer weapons SMP9, auto shotgun, IDF pup and mg55. Obviously starter guns 9mm and crossbow and other reward weapons like SSR, boozers shotty, the mayor and sheriff just no vendor weapons or found weapons. Maybe SAF at start that's up to you same with traps and throwables whatever challenge level you want to set yourself. A bit of fun after the 9mm SAF challenge like a challenge NG+. Oh and sabotaging enemy bikes gives scrap if your inventory isn't full and there's an alarm clock at O'leary camp when attractors are unlocked. Thanks for the content it's a massive help and quite entertaining.
Hi Borislav! That was a great use of promixity bombs to take out those dam baddies. In like fashion, there are plenty of places to place bombs to help out with the part of the mission that directly follows this one at the big compound.
Thank you my friend. Got to admit, I toyed with some potential setups for that compound, but came up with a good game plan for that particular mission. I see GG is bike walking again, lol. I've seen bits of his new route, but I still prefer going to the South via yours & GG's routes that run through Lost Lake & Iron Butte first.

I need to share what happened with my game a bit ago & idk where else to do so, thank you in advance for your patience 😊 After sleeping for a while I turned on the PS5 & loaded my most current Days Gone playthrough. I'd saved & quit after getting ready to take out a horde so the first thing I did after everything loaded was to verify all my weapons were loaded & ready to go ... Except something was wrong - my SMP9 was missing/no longer in my holster. So I went to the locker & tried to equip it. The usual screen came up, telling me about the gun but there was no option to exit the screen in anyway - I couldn't accept/equip the gun nor cancel & quit the menu, had to do a hard reset. Reloaded the game, exact same issue. Reloaded an earlier save file, exact same issue. I had to go back 4 saves before finally finding one that still had my SMP9 equipped and usuable! _SO_ freaking relieved there was a save that fixed the issue but also super confused, WTF could have caused this?! I'm used to ammo vanishing, particularly with the crossbows & BND-150. Lately the ammo for my SMP9 keeps vanishing now too. I'll restock all ammo, make certain all guns are fully loaded & maxed on ammo. Then a few mins later the SMP9 only has one full clip and nothing in reserve even tho I've not fired a single shot. Been trying to figure out if there's a pattern to it but so far haven't been able to find one. Now I'm gonna be super paranoid about my favorite gun(s) vanishing too. Has this ever happened to you? Do you/anyone happen to know the root cause or how to prevent either (ammo or weapon) from vanishing? Even if the answer is no, thanks for letting me vent about it here!
Well my friend, this HAS actually happened to me, but not with the sidearm. I had the game do this to me with my bloody primary weapon, and given that it was the Chicago Chopper, it's fair to say I was pretty pissed. I have no idea what caused this either, and I sorted this the same way you did, by using a previous game save. Sorry I can't provide any answers L8D, but you are not alone on this one my friend.

Haven't made it to the damn dam yet but wanted to let you know there's actually another great loot location on the way too: if you line up your map marker with the bottom of the infestation area where you go looking for Lisa in Lost Lake region and scroll to the west just over the wall into the Iron Butte region you'll see a little half circle area attached to the rocks/mountain/wall on the west side there. Place your marker and head on over, you'll find a Ripper Lookout tower. Climb it and collect - I can't recall everything there at the moment but it's a spot I try to hit every time I'm in the area
thats the look out tower opposite the cloverdale research facility isnt it? think their is a proximity mine, a attractor bomb, a grenade, a medkit and a molotov there

There are actually some really good benefits now from heading South early, but it's more for some really good guns you can unlock early. And you are right, the way back from the South ain't easy.
Absolutely. In my current play through I went early South , did some hordes and Nero sites and upgraded my guns to RPD and PPSH assault rifle so I’d have them in my locker . Went back to Lost lake . Did some more missions and then heard about doing bike upgrade. So I-went back over again. LOL. Did more hordes and hostages and infestation zones and marauder camps and upgraded the hell out of my bike . And then went back to Lost lake . 2nd time was easy as. And kinda fun finding giant holes and invisible walls and stuff . Getting good guns in my locker means I am OP and decimated the hordes , so now I have the Auto shotgun early. Only thing I’m really missing is the BFG .50. It really is as Boris says, an absolute game changer going over early!
@@borislav247 so much so that I’m Waaay behind in the main story cuz I’m driving around at night finding hordes. Killing marauders. Killing so much wildlife (auto shotgun makes quick work of wolves) totally upgraded stamina and focus. I’m so OP it’s ridiculous. Time to stock up on mines/bombs and do the Dam mission as per your other video. Not enough time in the day ! Plus I really should start a brand new game an give GG’s new route a go. Plus climb crane and kill half the Sawmill horde just for the ears/credits. You’re putting out so much good stuff I can’t keep up !

That must of took some planning boris bet you played the mission first on another save to see were to place mines .then set it up .possibilities endless now .I will be doing that mission near future started another playthrough because I deleted a save I was gutted lol great content 👌👍 my opinion it was worth the effort

I assume you have to do this right before the mission? I put mines down there when I first went into Iron Butte early but they disappeared when I got to this mission. I figure there is a time/game constraint that causes this. Leave them too long and it doesn’t work. Any way good to see this can actually work. Well done as usual mate !
Well my friend, doesn't have to be right before, as the mission that is coming up on screen is the one where the snake SKIZZO leads you into Iron Butte. A few missions take place after this before the Dam one, but they all happen inside a 3 day time frame, so anything you place will still be there. The placement of stuff seems to work just like respawnable loot. Around every 2.5 to 3 days, the loot items respawn, but anything you place like traps also disappear after this period. I would recommend once you enter Skizzo's cabin and pick up his rifle, to head over to the dam immediately after that, as the Dam mission still hasn't started at this point, but I show on this video a mission a bit further back, so you can potentially put items in the ripper compound to help with the mission "He Kept His Name" where you have to escape from the compound. Hope all this helps my friend.
Great strategy, especially for the Ripper heavy, thank you! I'm wondering if there's any way to make the next fight with the Breaker at the compound any easier. Like to lay a trap at his spawn place. Or it wouldn't work, cause there is so many Rippers running around. Either way, great video as always 😄👍 Edit: Yeah, I missed recent video, where you took the compound, joke's on me 😅
The Breaker in that mission is quite useful to take out any surviving Rippers, so I usually let him do his thing first. Borislav showed an easy kill location for him in the water, though if you have smoke bombs (and Boozer throws some so that is not an issue) and the Executioner skill, the Breaker is easy to take down.
It's all good CGE. Keeping up with videos these days is always tough. I pondered a while back about using items in that area, but I came up with a very effective way to take out that entire section, and Breakers are afraid of a bit of water, so a fantastic easy kill location was discovered also, lol. Absolutely! Although I wouldn't place them near the gate. I've experimented with this, and it is possible for enemies to follow you inside, such as wolves, if you are not careful.
@JBost-en9tq Was just about to start 'don't get caught' mission again, so just unloaded all proximities and remote bombs then crafted as many as I could and dropped those too. 23 bombs sitting nice and safe next to the trailer covered in wood planks at the base of o'leary camp. Damn shame can't save moltovs/grenades/ attractors. Wish could just stash in the gun safe

If you're at 98%, you simply haven't killed every horde mate. Go onto the map and check out every region (as they tell you how many hordes you've killed in each region) in order to determine the region you are missing the horde from (as it's simply one horde you are missing). Absolutely. In my current play through I went early South , did some hordes and Nero sites and upgraded my guns to RPD and PPSH assault rifle so I’d have them in my locker . Went back to Lost lake . Did some more missions and then heard about doing bike upgrade. So I-went back over again. LOL. Did more hordes and hostages and infestation zones and marauder camps and upgraded the hell out of my bike . And then went back to Lost lake . 2nd time was easy as. And kinda fun finding giant holes and invisible walls and stuff . Getting good guns in my locker means I am OP and decimated the hordes , so now I have the Auto shotgun early.
Only thing I’m really missing is the BFG .50.
It really is as Boris says, an absolute game changer going over early!

@@borislav247 so much so that I’m Waaay behind in the main story cuz I’m driving around at night finding hordes. Killing marauders. Killing so much wildlife (auto shotgun makes quick work of wolves) totally upgraded stamina and focus. I’m so OP it’s ridiculous.
Time to stock up on mines/bombs and do the Dam mission as per your other video. Not enough time in the day ! Plus I really should start a brand new game an give GG’s new route a go. Plus climb crane and kill half the Sawmill horde just for the ears/credits. You’re putting out so much good stuff I can’t keep up !

That must of took some planning boris bet you played the mission first on another save to see were to place mines .then set it up .possibilities endless now .I will be doing that mission near future started another playthrough because I deleted a save I was gutted lol great content 👌👍 my opinion it was worth the effort
Thank you Ian. I just had a quick check of my last playthrough where I took on this mission, to refresh my memory of where and when they all appeared. I was very happy with the final result, and other people may go even further than I did with the traps in future, lol.

This game demands more playthroughs, as it is simply that good, and you get new experiences every time with each playthrough, so go for it Adam.

I assume you have to do this right before the mission? I put mines down there when I first went into Iron Butte early but they disappeared when I got to this mission. I figure there is a time/game constraint that causes this. Leave them too long and it doesn’t work.

Well my friend, doesn't have to be right before, as the mission that is coming up on screen is the one where the snake SKIZZO leads you into Iron Butte. A few missions take place after this before the Dam one, but they all happen inside a 3 day time frame, so anything you place will still be there. The placement of stuff seems to work just like respawnable loot. Around every 2.5 to 3 days, the loot items respawn, but anything you place like traps also disappear after this period. I would recommend once you enter Skizzo's cabin and pick up his rifle, to head over to the dam immediately after that, as the Dam mission still hasn't started at this point, but I show on this video a mission a bit further back, so you can potentially put items in the ripper compound to help with the mission "He Kept His Name" where you have to escape from the compound. Hope all this helps my friend.

Great strategy, especially for the Ripper heavy, thank you! I'm wondering if there's any way to make the next fight with the Breaker at the compound any easier. Like to lay a trap at his spawn place. Or it wouldn't work, cause there is so many Rippers running around. Either way, great video as always 😄👍
Edit: Yeah, I missed recent video, where you took the compound, joke's on me 😅
The Breaker in that mission is quite useful to take out any surviving Rippers, so I usually let him do his thing first. Borislav showed an easy kill location for him in the water, though if you have smoke bombs (and Boozer throws some so that is not an issue) and the Executioner skill, the Breaker is easy to take down.

It's all good CGE. Keeping up with videos these days is always tough. I pondered a while back about using items in that area, but I came up with a very effective way to take out that entire section, and Breakers are afraid of a bit of water, so a fantastic easy kill location was discovered also, lol. Absolutely! Although I wouldn't place them near the gate. I've experimented with this, and it is possible for enemies to follow you inside, such as wolves, if you are not careful.

Was just about to start 'don't get caught' mission again, so just unloaded all proximities and remote bombs then crafted as many as I could and dropped those too. 23 bombs sitting nice and safe next to the trailer covered in wood planks at the base of o'leary camp. Damn shame can't save moltovs/grenades/ attractors. Wish could just stash in the gun safe
OLeary safehouse is a cracking place also mate. I don't have fast travel though so I go for a nearer option, lol.
BTW, there's a superior mace sitting on a bench directly next to you right after the cutaway of showing Sarah the waterfall once you head south

Indeed. The reviewers absolutely dumped on this amazing game, and it still hurts thinking of how much potential damage they did in terms of a potential sequel being cancelled.

If you're at 98%, you simply haven't killed every horde mate. Go onto the map and check out every region (as they tell you how many hordes you've killed in each region) in order to determine the region you are missing the horde from (as it's simply one horde you are missing). If it happens to be from Highway 97 region, I would put good money on the horde being the BEAVER MARSH REST STOP horde, as it is double locked in the game, and if it's this one, the video I leave a link to below this comment will help you out greatly.
