I'm very interested in BJJ I've wrestled for 5 years I'm currently 17 and looking to shoot for the top when it comes to combat sports. I'm questioning taking classes for BJJ just because I already have a wrestling background and would assume it would be better to learn striking. I know it's a big dream but I'd like to shoot for fighting in the Octagon in the UFC. Any advice is welcome and wanted.

I'll give you my 2 cents: Always think of your technique in an MMA context. Lets say you do BJJ and in the gi for some reason, if you are taught a technique, think, "If I were to execute this technique well, would this work in the octagon, against a world champion?" If the answer is no trash the technique, and replace it with one that works both in BJJ and in MMA. This is just an example but the concept is important, because too often will you see people getting too comfortable in their guard, and pay the price. Most wrestling translates well, but the set ups are entirely different, most takedowns in MMA are hit via timing, prioritize that.

If you have opportunity do college wrestling if not focus on bjj/grappling with some striking by the side. Most successful mma fighters specialise on a area whether it be striking or wrestling or submission. You can an advantage with your high school wrestling background in picking getting good at submissions (catch , bjj) , as opposed to just learning striking. Your combat sports career will last longer competing in grappling or wrestling competitions over just having mma fights at such a young age. On top of that getting the fight to the ground in mma will lead you less brain damage in the long run

Eu sigo esse coroa, ele tem muita posição ofensiva que não depende de kimono. Depois que comecei a ver os vídeos dele passei a deixar de fazer pegadas em kimono e comecei a ficar em vantagem nos rolas sempre. Passo a frente
