I love how the Brazilian coach is so excited about cradling. He very humbly admits he has never saw cradles and approaches the whole issue with a white belt enthusiasm. Great guy! And special thanks for the Catch wrestling coach for sharing an awesome wrestling technique with us. He showed a basic cradle, which wrestlers use all the time, but explained it in so many small details on how to make it tighter and better. Great stuff. Thank you so much.
CACC is bullshido. Why not just learn cradles, or any wrestling technique for that matter, from an actual wrestling coach? Not saying Neil isn't legit but he's not a CACC in the literal sense that he doesn't trace his lineage to any prowrestling roots. CACC is basically prowrestling but re-packaged as a real martial art. As for Neil, he came from Hayastan. They don't teach CACC over there.
My grandfather taught me catch as catch can wrestling, savate, la cane, and la baton from 1993 to 1997 when he died, prior to that the only thing I knew about wrestling was WWF, which I knew as entertainment; and what he taught me looked nothing like it, I only knew wrestling as a martial art & entertainment until I found out it was a sport by watching the Olympics. There are wrestling textbooks with the name catch as catch can wrestling from 1800s.
Ghost Jockey , look up gene lebell. Gene is CACC as they come. Gene teaches at Hayastan and in fact was one of two men responsible for formulating Hayastan grappling, in fact he taught Gokor when Gokor was a teen. Don't be a jabroni.
Great details that will strengthen your cradle. Like his quote, 'they're mean, brutal, not technical but they work.' Sometimes the simplest techniques are the best.
I’ve always used the cradle for transitioning, especially to set someone up for a knee bar. I’m glad I saw this. I believe the cradles have always been under appreciated. Tito Ortiz did a cool near side cradle on Guy Metzger long time ago in one of the old UFCs. He did well in controlling guy for most of the fight, until he got submitted in the end.
Finding some good success with this progression. I appreciate the detail you share as I’m seeing things I miss. Today was getting the cradle but not applying enough chest pressure because my knees were on the mat. Felt them start to get to their knees when I didn’t give enough chest pressure. Haven’t got through to the back yet but I like the results so far. Thanks for sharing!
the last leg position when you pin the bottom side thigh is like a milestone as it takes great base and strength to keep it balanced enough to start thinking about a cradle/seatbelt thing for working toward a back take
Great for tall people or those with long extremities. This is one of the systems I used that works well with grapplers who like to play deep half or leg lock hunters.
Juan Pablo Caicedo I use this position a lot so I shin staple their bottom leg (I try to pin it at the knee/thigh) with my outside leg then turn my hip out like a knee cut. It can be a fight so I try just as hard to free my leg as my opponent might to try and clamp it in. I find this approach depending on the size of the guy (I’m 97KG) gives me a high success rate. There are loads of options and attacks after you pass..there’s also Guillotines and the Hand gun choke str8 away if you lose balance and he rolls you as long as you keep the head grip tight and switch your hand grips properly. Hope that helps 🤙🏽
Were it not for the rough history between these two styles, we might have synthesized them much earlier. Now everything gets to be co-opted by BJJ players and get called BJJ, one erasing the history of the other.
Keep it simple. watch a lot of videos go to class, roll, stay injury free be patient and you'll get there. Be humble and always tap early, let go of submissions if your partners are hard heads and don't tap.
Okay soo they are cheap if you want to call it that and mean,, if it works what is the problem I like to call it mean nessasary and of it works use it .!
when the thigh is brought to the chest the hamstring is pre-stretched, meaning it will be too short to allow the knee to even fully extend unless you're gymnast level flexibility, kneebar is trying to hyperextend the knee once it's already straight. This move would make you tap just from the hamstring stretching before the knee could straighten.
"That's super tight, super tight"! Second best complement in grappling. "So smooth" is number one.
PigIron BigIron however “Very strong” is an insult 😂

I dont care if his linage is from Hulk Hogan this guy is good stuf

@@kevionrogers2605 that's priceless you learned from your grandfather...
The level of control Melanson is able to dictate throughout the sequence is insane.
Bernardo is so genuine, you can’t help but love him. Great video both of you
God bless you Neil you son of a gun.
I am always amazed that great videos like this still manage to get down votes. Thankyou and keep them coming.
So true. Some people came just be haters for no reason.
I assume they were just trying to hit the thumbs up really quickly.
rowan maxwell i
@teknomogul Seriously dude!
@TEKNOMOGUL why do you say that? Not a believer in the cradle control of the head, or smth else?
Bernardo thank you for sharing all these videos 😉
I can listen to Bernardo talk all day.

Give thanks Bernardo and Coach Neil Melanson.
I added this to my arsenal during class, a definite game changer.

Great video! Nice seeing 2 top coaches working together :)
Fan of your stuff as well! 👍
Great! Too smart! This Man is a genius.
What a absolute catch beast
Two of the nicest and most respectful trainers out there, together at last!
I agree 100%
Neil is a G! He always has some amazing techniques. Great video fellas!
this was awesome! two of my favorite youtube grappling coaches in one video.

I got past the bunch but I have not yet switched the cradle to take the back.

This was incredible! Cant wait to try it in class!
Great stuff! Loving it! The thumb downs are from people who accidently wound up here while searching for cribs and cradles for babies ....
haha you weren't asking for him to show you that one again were you Bernardo. Thanks for the video!
Neil Melanson .... my fav!!!!
straight fire
gonna try this tonight!
Great for tall people or those with long extremities. This is one of the systems I used that works well with grapplers who like to play deep half or leg lock hunters.
I love Bernardo, but I must admit I was laughing at how uncomfortable he would be feeling being twisted in catch knots here!
Amazing technique!!! Thank's for sharing master Bernardo!!!
Melanson is king!
Jiu jitsu and catch fit like hand in glove.
Both need to be trained
And yeah, I love both of these guys
You ok coach?
Case in point, grappling is legit.
Love it!!
Neil never got invited back 😂
S grip is super underrated. Love the Wade Schallas shout out!
He’s now got 2 instructionals out on BJJ fanatics.
great move
Neil's size is intimidating! Bernardo, far from being a small guy looks so little next to him!
only 240p?
:(
What causes the opponent to curl up when you get the initial arm drag? A one handed arm drag is not going to force someone to curl up like that is it?
I loved the video's address .
holy shit. just wow. im tapping from watching
I use this but don't go around the legs to the back, but let go into side control or north and south
How do you release your back knee from his half guard?

catch jitsu!
Is this on one of his DVD’s?
Handy Couture...that's a new take on that name
I'm hungry for pretzels for some reason...
Cradles and kneebars chokey things!
5:40 6:10 6:30
Nice video s always, but please try to make them shorter,, like 2 mn instead of 12 mn
10 weak noodles got smashed with this XD
It me lmao
That looks so uncomfortable 😣
Nice use of a cradle to gain an advantageous position. To my guys, anything look familiar? #wrestlejitsu
Hendy Cotuur.
If your not very flexible this looks very uncomfortable and another way to take the back so ,good stuff !

8:02 lol MMA
Neil is a big guy. Bernardo looks like he is 170 pound by his side. And we know Bernardo is a big guy too.
Very cool, but I’m a white belt and that is a lot of steps for me….at this point, I need simple.
Keep it simple. watch a lot of videos go to class, roll, stay injury free be patient and you'll get there. Be humble and always tap early, let go of submissions if your partners are hard heads and don't tap.
WWE WWE205 NXT
he showed chael this with randy
Okay soo they are cheap if you want to call it that and mean,, if it works what is the problem I like to call it mean nessasary and of it works use it .!
Translater fotra be sent back to school.
All of that set up is for a choke?? Damn.
What's wrong with his voice?
¨6:34 thats a kneebar?
