    Nice. Very unconventional. I have been thinking about the need to have more aggressive attack options when playing from seated position so this appeals. Opponents tend to have a certain idea about what you might do if you take what appears to be the more passive and "submissive" position and will be quite miffed if you suddenly leap to your feet with a technique like this.

    What Melanson doesn't mention in this video, is that Folkstyle wrestling is a direct descendant of Catch wrestling. Of course most of the techniques will be similar, only the submissions are missing.

    Wow! Excellent demonstration.
    This shoulder attack is like the Americana / Keylock, but wedging your opponent from the top instead of allowing the ground to be the wedge.

    Neil looks like a tough, knowledgeable grappler but I don’t see mma fighters or grapplers pull of anything in his “systems”. Danaher guys pull off all his stuff in high level competitions. I don’t see that with Neil’s stuff.

    • @Qthetar
      @Qthetar 4 роки тому +3

      Not all great grapplers are great teachers but I think it’s a matter of people that practice with him, do they even compete in these.

    Neil has some nasty stuff. One critique is how hard he is on Bernardo. Very jerky. Even just showing the moves in that way can hurt someone. Wrestlers are rough. Not a fan of training with guys like him for this reason. Often times they can take the "fun" out of rolling. Effective stuff though.

    • @hajikelist
      @hajikelist 5 років тому

      I can handle it when dealing with an honorable gentleman grappler, but if the guy's personality is crap, it's definitely no fun.

      You two should look at how he treats his training partner nick the tooth. He constantly asks if he's okay (which is nice) but even grappling dummies don't envy nick
