I have been preparing for 6 months to get a love bird! I am disabled so I can give all my time towards the bird. But I have sensitive ears due to my condition. but I purchased high grade silicone ear buds and gun silencer headphones. As wellI have been listening to love bird sounds for hours to make sure I can handle it. I am nervous but I think I made the right choice.

They are one of the funniest, playful and active birds, you won’t get bored.
Some of them can be quite shy but also some can be moody just like people.
Especially when the lovebird is a female. Nesting times they can be quite territorial, usually have to go through a few of their cycles to become more aware of when and where they want their space.
The bite is no joke, they can draw blood, but they can also be very gentle and affectionate. I learned that I could trust my bird to preen my eyelashes, but also know how to quickly read when she was about to bite my hand. We avoided many ‘run ins’ over the years unfortunately some of my relatives didn’t know how to read her. I had to make sure to supervise when others interacted with her.

I have a lovebird named Lilybird. I didnt raise him first but the previous owners raised him and thought he was a she. He is such an affectionate bird, but the noise is no joke. If you want a bird that doesnt nearly break your eardrums, DONT get a lovebird. I love him regardless, even if he makes me go deaf every once in a while lol.

For me, lovebirds aren't as annoying as budgies. Budgies tend to scream more than a lovebird does. But everyone's experiences are different. Budgies are resistant to training compared to a lovebird. Lovebirds also tend to appreciate you, good food, and play time. Budgies are BRATS lol. I really don't like budgies if you cant tell. Pro tip: if your bird is loud all the time, your nutrition is probably wrong. A seed diet is actually very unhealthy and unsatisfactory for birds, which is why most become loud. (Aside from budgies they are obnoxious all the time, like a cockatoo) LOL. High quality pellets. Fresh chop. And human grade organic seeds mixed into the chop is best. Bigger seeds/millet spray are great as treats for training.

Thank you for this comment. My dad has a love bird pair and as far as I've seen they only screech once in awhile. Like you I think budgies are absolutely obnoxious and ear piercing. Dad's lovebirds are way quieter than my friends budgies. I'm getting a love bird baby to hand feed from the same breeder dad got his from, but I live in an apartment. So I've been searching and searching to see just how loud they can be. Seems less than budgies to me. 🤔

I had a budgie who died, 10 years of his sweetness. It really depends on their personality. After him, I got a cockatiel and now a lovebird. Can’t find any similarities, but all three are unique and loveable for all their traits. Depends on what you like.

If someone is a bit busy for such a needy bird, I always recommend canaries. Most will never perch on you, but they do enjoy company. Just being in a room with music and loud conversation makes them happy. But they don't become depressed when left alone for most of the day, especially if you have several.

So I had a REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION so please answer me! I don’t know where I can buy a lovebird from, for example if I’ll buy a lovebird from a privet person, the bird might have some diseases, BUT I live in Canada Vancouver, and I couldn’t find any pet stores that has any lovebirds! @@inbaltzafrir3846 Hi. I read the comment you got and would like to say a few things i think you would like to know if getting a bird. If you want a cuddly and affectionate bird you should get only one , not a pair . Not in the beginning anyway. If you have a pair they have each other and wont get so much affectionate to you and other familymembers . I think thats what you want , a sweet and cuddly one (who wouldnt 🤗) And one more thing ,,, buy a young one ,, if you want it to be easier to train that is. And one last thing ,, dont let it be alone too much . If you know you will be out for long times , you should let the cafe be where other familymembers are , like in the livingroom for ex . Good luck , from Sweden ⚘

Hi :) You should never keep lovebirds alone. They always need a partner. They often develop psychological problems when they try to see people as romantic partners. Sooner or later. Here in Germany every breeder will say that. They never sell birds individually, at least in pairs. They even say that about all other bird species, but especially about the lovebirds. We have a couple at home ourselves, so we know what we're talking about.

If you’re buying love birds from Arizona be aware that most of the love birds are wild caught. This can make training a lot nor difficult as they will be more wary and the will always be on the defensive. Mine is a wild caught it’s took months for me to get it’s trust. Even after 3 years if I leave my hand in the cage I get a nasty bite😂😂😂
