I hate the new wave handles that everyone is using these days. I prefer the knurled cylindrical handle of the classic round head ratchets. I also like the rectangular handle of some older Craftsman ratchets, but I have never owned one.
Mine finally are “ok”. After raising pure hell they sent me rebuild kits for them. I played with different lubes and messed with the spring since I now had an extra. They are pretty nice now. But that sour taste in my mouth is going no where. And they still don’t compare to my Nepros or Carlyle in terms of being smooth. And can’t even come close to my Koken Zeal in terms of low backlash. They just don’t make sense unless you are just a big SK fan. Which, at this point, is kinda silly. Enjoy the ones ya got! I still have a gorgeous set of their wrenches. Very unfortunate.
Just got my 3/8 flex head yesterday and I thank God I got it for 70 percent off. Just like you, I've been turned off by this ratchet. I don't want to buy anything else from them. I can't even get the plate off to look inside the ratchet it's like it's stuck.
I only have the 3/8 Dr I been trying to track down a green switch one but have been unsuccessful so I just painted and clear coated the switch. I feel they should have stayed with that and it's part of there color scheme. The lp 90 I grap more then my f80 snap on its the extra length in the handle on the sk.
I can only guess SK stopped painting the switch green as a cost cutting measure, but I agree that it was a nice touch that made it pop. To be fair, I'm not sure that I can think of any other ratchet that has a distinctively colored selector switch that is neither black nor chrome.
@@OnTheWorkbench I still can't complain its a quality product that I've used professionally as a mechanic and dyno test mechanic, there multiple new models out that I will be buying one of witch is a 24" 1/2 dr and some flex head ones. These hold there own again snap on for shure also easier to service with there one pawl system snap on uses two pawls
Did these ever get better for you? I recently purchased all 3. Shocked at how bad they are. Even the 3/8 that does work little better, doesn’t even compare to my basic Tekton 3/8, much less my more expensive ones. SK should be ashamed.
Any experience with Williams made in USA ratchets ? The tooth count is low but they can be had for about the price of outsourced ratchets from department stores, I'm debating on buying 1, 3 or 4. Maybe trying out the 1/2" drive 15' length, the Williams S-52EHLA. Then they come in chrome or black-oxide, the Williams SB-52EHLA (S- vs SB- and note the L near the end is long handle). - The internals are from an older Snap-on line-up. ua-cam.com/video/N0hIXtu83NU/v-deo.html
I'm talking to everyone in the comments and the content creator. SK has been sold to Greatstar a Chinese tool manufacturer. We lost another great tool manufacturer to China for cheaper labor costs. RIP SK 😭💔
I saw someone else say thing as what was said in this video. This is very disappointing for SK I expect better from them. I wanted to get this ratchet because I’m an SK fan and I love made in USA tools. But I’ll pass on this one. I have a 1/2 inch drive snap on that I love it works great when I use it. I wanted to get a made in USA 1/4 inch and 3/8. I guess I’ll just stick with snap on ratchets the undisputed king
love those ratchets
Thanks for sharing your experience with us

If there is too much lube in one of these, they’ll bind up

They're really nice if you never ended up checking them out, 36 teeth is 36 teeth no matter how nice the ratchet is, bit I love mine.
