I’ve had the HF versions. Didn’t like the comfort grip handles that wore out and got loose. Ended up wrapping a bunch of electrical tape around them then gave them away 😂 The Olsa’s are looking like the best version right now. Love all the features on them. 90 tooth, quick release, and a solid looking non- comfort grip handle. Will be on my next purchase list. The only little thing is I wish Olsa would’ve kept the stamping of the letters/numbers instead of the laser etching. Stamping always looks better😂
I have the 1/4 Tekton swivel head, and I love it. I also have the 3/8 Cornwell with the comfort grip. I like it, but I'm not a huge fan of the square comfort grip. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and have an awesome new year
My favorite ratchet of all my ratchets (about 10) is the Carlyle 3/8 100 tooth swivel head. But it is the only swivel head ratchet I have!
Very nice. I do also enjoy the Carlyle tool line up
I mostly use roto heads, besides for 1/2 applications. I have the olsa set and wish the 3/8 was longer, i found myself reaching for my longer snap on to break persistent bolts. i purchased the carlyle 12 inch roto head ratchet and it has solved my leverage issue, it comes with a comfort grip as well.
Very nice. Good to hear. Thanks for sharing
I have not tried the Olsa, but we broke the 3/8 Gearwrench at work in under a month. Napa has some nice options for rotoheads as well. Have a happy holiday season!!!
Thank you for sharing. Happy holidays
Just ordered the ½ inch ratchet. If, like me, you’ve already got several sizes of swivel heads (Craftsman, and pleased), the Olsa site allows you to purchase them individually; just ordered the one above @ $33.87 W/ free shipping. Thanks ~
Tony i bought a round head ratchet made by Wright and it is the smoothest and best ratchet i have ever owned in 50+ years. I always look forward to your videos buddy!! Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family!! Your friend Larry C
Very nice. That's great to hear. Do you know if it is still made? I'll have to look into it. Thank you and have a great holiday.
Wright tools are top notch. They just seem to make remarkably little effort to market them or make them easily available, so people don’t think about them much. Great tools though.
I picked up the Tekton set a few months ago.
Nice. How have they been?
I have the Wera roto/head Zyclop in 3/8 -- very little backdrag on it. very nice to use, but the head is a bit bulky
Good to know. Thank you for sharing 👍
I've never really been a fan of roto heads. I still have a Husky one and it does get used once and awhile, but not very often. You can chuck the 1/4" drive square into a drill and spin it slowly for awhile and it will lessen the back drag
Ya if I ever find my 1/4 version I'm definitely putting it on a drill to see if that helps. I might have got rid of it. I can't find it and it's not like me to misplace things so I probably got rid of it lol. And ya the design has never been appealing to me but I do enjoy a good operating one for interior.
They’re a tool you don’t normally need but once in a while they can be useful.
I never liked them just cause of how they looked but then I got my hands on a 1/4 roto head bit ratchet that just so happened to be a snap on and fell in love, going to grab a 1/4 square now but idk about a 3/8 a regular flex already is more than enough for me
I do the same thing with my ratchets that are tight out of the box too. I use an impact driver though, which is the same thing as a drill. I didn't think other ppl knew about that trick.
I was interested in these when SO started carrying them some 20 years ago. I didn't like the backdrag like you, but noticed every week there was another broken one on the truck. The failure occurs at the swivel point not having much "meat" around the pin. I found one that seemed stout but the damn thing pinches the hell out of my fingers when changing positions. I gave up on those. I only keep it in my work toolbox "just in case it might help". So far....no.
Haha ya I know what you mean. I've been pinch by them before too. Not fun. And ya not necessarily the best for high torque applications. That's why I primarily use it for interior and firewall work.
can you swap the heads around?
Hello again Tony
Thank you for another Great Video. Hey, I thought you said, you were taking time off? What happened? Lol, I 'm joking with you. I went with the Pittsburgh tools route. So there the only one's I have experienced with. I did look at the Icons. But I couldn't justify the cost. Anyhow, thank you again and Merry Christmas to you and your family
Thank you and glad that is working well for you. Haha ya I'm leaving in 2 days. I have some videos recorded for while I'm gone. Happy holidays!!
@@TonyTheTechnician Hello again Tony
When I first saw a Roto head ratchets, I thought they were a gimmick. Until I started watching UA-cam. Then I saw Roto head ratchets as a game changer. Again thank you
Ya I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same way
I keep hoping gear wrench is going to put out a 120 Xperia swivel head set
That would be great
So if you guys like 3/8 swivel head ratchet in a 1/4 body go to harbor freight tools. Buy a icon 1/4 swivel head ratchet and Pittsburgh 3/8 T-bar with flexible ratchet. Swap out the guts on both these ratchets. You will get a 3/8 ratchet in a 1/4 icon body. The Pittsburgh ratchet turns into a stubby 1/4 swivel ratchet. Next sale im going to buy both ratchets again but use them how they are.
Ps I LOVE RATCHETS
I have the olsa set it's damn solid set
👍👍👍
Tony, did you oil your gearwrench roto ever? I had same problem then got frustrated and took it apart and it fixed the back drag problem.
Yes I was hoping that was the issue as well. I think I just got a bad set. I should have tried to warranty them but was just so frustrated
the titan 1/4 really suck. mine broke the first time i used it
Do you have a part number on craftsman 1/2 drive roto head? Thanks
I think craftsman only has the 1/4 and 3/8. I can't find the 1/2 but I'll keep checking
@@TonyTheTechnician thanks that’s what I thought because I only have the 1/4 and 3/8. But if you do find it please let me know. Merry Christmas
@@beardedtoolreviews7185 oh ok. Ya I'll definitely let you know. Sorry if I accidentally said they had a 1/2 version.
When did Gearwrench start having red handles? The only reason I don't use them was bc I can't stand that puke colored orange.
The red ones are really old. I have a 1/4 from probably 8-9 years ago
@@kennethstephens8046 ya the red and black are from before they switched to orange
Tekton same as Pittsburgh
….no
Yes, I have both rotohead ratchets. They are 100% the same except for the handle color.
why don't tool companies measure the backdrag that's a important feature
That's very true that would be a great thing to see
cause they suck
No Olsa Tools link?

@@TonyTheTechnician Thanks, Tony!
@Snowmannorth no problem. My apologies I thought I added it to the description when I created the video
@@TonyTheTechnician np, we’re all human…I think? 🤔😂
