↓↓↓↓↓ BUCKEYE BALLS RECIPE BELOW ↓↓↓↓↓
Let's head into the kitchen and make a batch of easy chocolate peanut butter balls. This is one of my family's favorite Christmas candy recipes. I've been making this buckeye candy recipe every Christmas since I was a kid, and now you can make it too!
PRINTABLE RECIPE: 🖨️ flouronmyfingers.com/buckeye-... 🖨️
INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons salted butter, softened
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
10 ounces dark chocolate melting wafers
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In a small mixing bowl, mix up the first three ingredients, including the softened butter, creamy peanut butter, and powdered sugar.
2. Take about a tablespoonful of the peanut butter mixture and begin to roll it between your hands. Shape it into as round of a ball as you can and place it on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
3. Continue rolling until all of your peanut butter mixture has been rolled into peanut butter balls.
4. Add toothpicks (for dipping) to each ball.
5. Chill the peanut butter balls in the fridge or freezer for about half an hour.
6. Melt the chocolate according to package directions.
7. Once your chocolate is ready to go, you can remove the peanut butter balls from the freezer, and start dipping right away.
8. As you partially dip each buckeye into the chocolate, using a toothpick or dipping tool, place it back on the wax paper lined cookie sheet.
9. Chill the chocolate covered peanut butter balls in the fridge or freezer ’til set, probably about 15-20 minutes.
10. Then remove all the toothpicks and cover up the holes with your finger (optional step).
11. Store them in an airtight container or festive Christmas tin (lined with wax paper) in the fridge.

I've been making these for years and it never occurred to me to put a toothpick in each one for more stability when dipping. The Ghirardelli Semi Sweet Chocolate Melts are heaven to work with. Thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks.
"If you never had Buckeye's I'm super sorry" what a gem. Can't wait to make these.
They are simply the best chocolate peanut butter dessert a person can eat. Seriously, they're amazing! I can't wait for you to try them!
@@MelLockcuffThank you 😋🥰
My husband loves those peanut butter balls. I’ve never made them, some people in the family gives them to him, this time I think I will do them. Thanks 😊
If giving as a gift put them in cupcake papers after dipping before putting them in a container.
As a preschool teacher, I used to get these from my students at Christmas! Delicious!
Peanut butter and chocolate... can’t go wrong ! Yum !
We not only made these for holidays when I was growing up , we made them anytime we wanted candy. We lived way out in the country and buying store bought stuff just wasn't an option most of us time. I loved these frowning up.
Medra, that's about like my family growing up. Buckeyes are a family tradition.
We made this too my Dad made a recipe of 40oz of peanut butter all the time we cover the whole ball and call it peanut butter balls
Then put them in the freezer
My sister-in-law uses red and green colored chocolate, then dips the entire Buckeye in and tops them off with a candy (mini rese cup) to make it look like Christmas ornament. It is the envy of the cookie exchange.
Thats so cool :0
That is an awesome idea.
How clever!
That sounds great. But then you no longer have a Buckeye. A Buckeye is a real nut that grows in Ohio. If you cover up your peanut butter ball, and put sprinkles on it, it's just that. A chocolate covered peanut butter ball. Us Ohio State Buckeye fans, are quite particular about our Peanut Butter Buckeyes. 😉
These little balls of peanut butter goodness are definitely a holiday staple in my house. I am not sure if it's elsewhere in the comments, but many years a good friend of mine gave me a tip that turns this into two great desserts. Use the leftover dipping chocolate to cover pretzels (we use the tiny twists) and whatever toasted nuts you like. Over the years, this has become such a well-loved part of the tradition that we often times melt extra chocolate, just so we can make sure we have enough for lots of pretzels and nuts.
I do pretzels too
That's a great idea, Susie! Chocolate-covered pretzels are the best.
Try crushing peppermint sticks and pretzels - stir into melted dark chocolate and pour onto wax paper - break into bark - sooooooooo good
@@violaspencer5628
Sounds good
Ive never had peppermint with pretzels but l love pretzels and chocolate. Thank you!
I have been wanting to make these for 40 years. My neighbors used to make these at Christmas and I couldn't wait for them to drop them off at our house. I am going to make these this Christmas! Thanks for the video.
That's awesome, Kristen. Be sure to report back on the results!
I always come back to this video to make these! Everyone always tells me how amazing these are & my husband loves them!!
Also I love how you say “if you’ve never had buckeyes I’m truly sorry” 😄 real feels Lolol soo great.
Thank you for an amazing easy recipe
That's awesome!! They really are one of my favorite desserts. Sooo good.
I am from the Buckeye State and these are always a staple for our OSU football game parties. I just made them Friday for Saturday's game---we won! I make some with the dark chocolate (my preference) and some with the milk chocolate. Easy & delicious.
I’m remember making them all the time with my mom when she was alive, thanks for sharing I’m definitely gonna make some this week. So glad I came across your channel. Merry Christmas 🎄 Everyone!!!
I have family that are the Biggest Ohio State University Buckeye fans. Who by the way are going to the Rose 🌹Bowl this year. I sent her this recipe. She was so glad to get it. Great game day snack for sure! Thank you, when I saw you were doing I had to watch. Happy Holidays 🎄☃️🎅🤶🍾🥂 non-alcoholic Champaign for me. Everyone stay safe. Go Buckeyes, make us Proud.
Sherry, this is definitely one of the best game day snacks. You just can't beat buckeye balls!
We used to eat Buckeyes all the time when I was a teenager. It wasn't really even a holiday thing we ate it anytime of the year. I kinda miss them.
You should make some! Not that difficult.
@@scarletgrey47 Oh I will!! 🙃😊
I found you lookin for a different recipe...now I will add this to ! Thanks
My son loves these, can’t wait to try YOUR recipe! TFS!
FYI: didn't here this mentioned but buckeyes are a type of chestnut native to Ohio and the namesake of OSU. The real buckeyes is typically not eaten by humans, but these deliciois candies are certainly edible! Like a Reese's PB cup!

@@sandrasirio5527 Hi! Yes! They will always be Our Little Boys! God Luck making this l hope mine come out good too!
Maria, I hope that you guys enjoy them as much as we do. Merry Christmas!
From Ohio here, the recipe I use I've had for about 50 years....double boiler and add paraffin, etc...long before microwave ovens...love love these, I usually make at holidays for gifts...brings back memories of snow and white Christmases past....not much snow in Georgia so these work...lol
That's how my mom, from WV, taught us how to make and dip them!
That's how I've always made them. I grew up in Ohio.
I'm not entirely sure of the origins of my recipe, my childhood best friend's mom would make these and we helped, I copied the recipe and still have original written paper I was maybe 16 or 17 looking at my writing...this year I am also trying my hand at Rum balls, one of my dad's holiday favorites 😎
@@meanderingmyrrkat8798 How/where does your recipe differ from this recipe? And what form of chocolate do you use? (The old, traditional recipes are always intriguing.)
@@theelizabethan1 Hi...at that time wafer melts didn't exist so originally bakers chocolate or cocoa powder was used, when I copied mine chocolate baking chips were available...paraffin wax was added to melted chocolate to stiffen it and help prevent melting at room temps...we didn't have air conditioning then either 🤣👍
These look sooo good. Thank you for sharing!! God bless you and your channel. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Thank you, Connie! Merry Christmas to you!!
I tried buskeyes for the first time last Christmas they are fantastic nothing better than chocolate and peanutbutter
Linda, I wholeheartedly agree.
These look amazing!!
Thanks so much, Jennifer! We love them.
Looks great! And seems easy to make.
They're so easy!
We add in crushed cornflakes for our crunchy buckeyes... they are awesome!
Do you add more butter to make up for adding more dry ingredients?
To make mine more crispy I rice crispy. Huuuuum
🌲Happy Holiday🌲
Yum. Sounds great.
Great idea
That's a great idea. I like to use Rice Krispies, no extra butter necessary, but I've never tried corn flakes.
Thank you for sharing a smaller recipe, most have enough for a few yrs. Will be making these, NOW! Yeah, I’m bored, might just as well add a few extra lbs for winter. What are people calling it, the Covid 20 😷🎄☀️ love how you managed to get a bakers dozen
I finally found a buckeye recipe that doesn't feed a small army, I checked out your channel and I see other easy delicious recipes I want to try do I subbed to your channel 😃

Excellent instructions... I just found you and I’m hooked! My friend from Ohio would bring these lovely treats to work ! Now I can make them thanks to You! Happy Holidays! Can’t wait to see more of your inspirations!!
Merry Christmas, Ellen! There are many more videos to come!
Been making these for 40 years. Always requested by everyone.
Grandma Holland made these every year for Christmas! She would put chocolate all over them and put a pecan on top! I remember receiving a Christmas tin with layers of these candies inside!! Such special memories and I sure do miss her... she brought our family together with food.
That sounds like a lot of fun, Angela. She had a great idea in topping buckeyes with pecans. Buckeyes have always been a Christmas tradition around here. I do greatly miss my grandmothers as well.
thank you when i used to make them into balls the dough would stick all on my hands and it was so frustrating and then i used your ingredients and no sticking at all and the toothpicks made it so much easier for dipping
That's great! I'm glad it turned out so well for you.
I don't do holidays, but anytime is good for Buckeyes.
I fully agree!
My family’s fav. I freeze the balls before dipping.
I love these. We used to call them doodoo balls as kids. They're great with a bowl of ice cream.
Awesome video thank you very much excellent
Thank you 😊
I will try these. Look delicious
Thank you, Sharon! Be sure to let me know how they turn out.
It's my favorite kind of balls to eat.
