Hi Antonio, greetings from Argentina, new subscriber here (a few minutes ago). A little bit of history to enlighten you about min 9:52. The Mounted Grenadier Regiment (or Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo) was founded in 1812 by our "Father of the Land" (Padre de la Patria) Col. José de San Martín, later General, when he came back from Spain. His very first battle took place Feb the 3rd of 1813 in a battlefield called San Lorenzo in our province of Entre Ríos against Spanish troops who were against our independence, and he won that battle. He, among others, were leaders of our independence from the Spanish Crown. Later, due to his success, he was commissioned to help Chile and Perú for their liberation as well and also succeeded. BTW: in both Countries he is well recognized. After that and because of several intestine fights, he decided to migrate to France where he died Aug the 17th 1850 at the age of 78 in the city of Boulogne Sur Mère. Several years later, a constitutional president negotiate with France to bring back his remains witch rests in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires guarded by 7 Grenadiers of his former Regiment. Because of all that history backing up this iconic Regiment, at the beggining of the XX Century it was decided that the Mounted Grenadier Regiment were the custodians of our Presidents and not only in a ceremonial way, but also in a practical way (something like the US Secret Service). Two side notes: 1) The uniform was designed by San Martin him self inspired in his former Spanish Husars Regiment where he did his military career. 2) When San Martin´s remains came back from France, late in the XIX century, only 7 of his original Grenadiers were alive and those 7 escorted his coffin to his final rest place. Since then and until now, ONLY the 7 best performed Regiment Soldiers are given the honor to do that escort. Third side note: every regiment has their own military band and the Mounted Grenadier Regiment is no exception, how ever it was for many years the ONLY mounted band existing in the world called the Mounted Regiment Fanfare. I hope this comment will give you a bigger context about our well beloved Grenadiers. Cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina (a dream place).

as someone going to the navy, i might be biased but i love the dress blues, they’re my favorite out of all the branches. they just look SO good and yeah when they fit well, theyre amazing. im always shocked every time i see them
Those shoulder pads with a little bit of lace, the fringe, on them are called epaulets (or epaullets). They are usually worn by officers. The fancier the epaulet, more fringe, the higher the rank. They can be worn by all ranks with the insignia of rank on them, but the higher ranks will still be fancier.
The shoes are a double soled brogues with hobnails and the Spats over the Brogues. The brogues are issued with the front holes and these need to be filled in and polished extremely well to make the front highly polished and perfectly smooth. Definitely not fun to be issued a new pair.
The uniform of Indian Army that you were asking about is called "Angola" and it's a winter dress. The cravat that is shown in the video is Para SF specific. (Every regiment has their specific colours)

That grey version of the new nordic combat uniform is just a prototype, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland will have the same uniform but in each camouflage pattern. My country (Sweden) will keep the M90 with just a minor change, the pattern squares will be smaller than the previous to get a patent on the pattern which they messed up with the original M90 pattern. Thank you for the content!
The Norwegian camo pattern will look quite close to an kiwi with green background with small black dots on it. But to be fair it will probally take decades before the whole of norway military to switch to the new uniform and new camo pattern. Hell even a lot of our home guardsmen still use the m75, an super outdated and super heavy if its gets wet and takes ages to dry type off uniform.
what watch are you wearing in this video? I usually never depart from the scuba (seiko sk) and field (hamilton khaki similar) watches, but I wanted to get a low cost thinner and 43-45mm alternative. Thanks.
Thanks for including the Navy dress blue crackerjack. I loved that uniform when I was in 1966-70. Then the pants had thirteen buttons on the front flap. Now they also have a dress white crackerjack that really looks nice.
I love the dress uniforms of Podhale Rifles (Polish mountain infantry). Cool insignia - edelweiss flower, hats with eagle feather and awesome overcoats thrown over one shoulder.
The Turkish Air Force uniform at #6 is the ceremonial dress uniform. Regular dress uniform does not have the sword belt, gold embroidery on the shoulder board and is worn with blue (as opposed to white shirt). The photos seem to be from graduation ceremony where the newly minted officers (who were cadets a day earlier) are wearing this uniform for the first time, hence the fit is not perfect.
In the US Army during the early 60s, the starched green fatigue uniform (daily work uniform) was typically worn with an ascot-style neck scarf in the color of one’s unit; eg, infantry - blue, artillery - red, medical - purple, Special Forces - camo, etc. With brightly colored unit patches and rank stripes, black US Army tape with gold lettering sewed above the left breast pocket, and white name tape with black lettering above the right, it was a fairly good looking uniform. Old film footage of combat troops in Vietnam shows them wearing it still. That changed quickly to more realistic drab colors, though.
I love the Philadelphia cavalry uniform. I just love napoleon and pre-napoleonic uniforms and learning that the US, even if it's just one battalion, was sporting such a uniform was an absolute delight.
The Maron beret is only for the most Elite forces only( SF, Airborn, those heavy-duty guys ,signifies Sacrifice) The second uniform was the - Ceremonial uniform of INDIAN para military and some of the Infantry regiments ( various types of ceremonial uniforms are there but the common thing is you get to ware the cool Cravat 😉
You're Partly wrong bro, the second uniform featured is not of the Para SF, it is of the ARMY ORDINANCE CORPS check the uniform , it lacks the maroon shoulder tabs of the Paras and the caravat is navy blue with maroon stripes. Check the cap badge too. It does not have the parachute and the wings of the parasf. And lastly, no Para SF officer wears a Peak Cap. They all wear the Maroon Berret everywhere!
once you go a maroon baret ,you have to wear in all your army life even if you become a high ranking officer.THATS THE SPECIALITY AND POWER OF MAROON BARET. I dont know the 1st one, the 2nd one is NSG Uniform, 3rd one is PARA/PARA SF Unifrom
colour coded berets is something we germans also do. Bordeaux red is used by guys in troops like the paratroopers and KSK, Black is used by tankers and recons.....
The new US Army Green Service Uniform looks sharp, but the one thing I dislike about it is the garrison hat that looks too close to our USMC version in the way of it's shape. The last Army garrison hat I've seen worn a little over 21 years ago or so had pointed corners rather than rounded on the tops both forward and aft. I'm glad the USMC hasn't had to change it's style and color of our service and dress uniforms too much in almost a century if that.
@@mitchellsmith4690 That is true. The Army did have both rounded and pointed in WWII, and I was referring to the most recent version GI's wore before those black berets were introduced. Just saying. I have my dad's which he had worn during WWII that had light blue colored piping. Maybe the Army will add these colored pipings back to their current Garrison hats in the future.
@@battle_p9291 I would hope so, the coloured piping for branch of service would be a moral builder...right now infantry gets their blue cords and backing, the other 4 combat arms get nada. And those berets need to go...they were the mark of elites...Airborne, Rangers and SF.
@Realmenrealstyle I'm sure it's already been answered but the pouch worn in the front of the Royal Regiment of Scotland uniform is called a sporran. There are 'hair' varieties (horse, rabbit etc) and the plain leather type. There are some even with a badger's head (see Calgary Highlanders and Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders NCOs and officers). All sporrans have some sort of pouch - this is the 'pocket'. The white shoe coverings are called spats (similar to a gaiter but covers part of the top of the foot as well), and the socks are called 'hose' with a few varieties (half hose, full hose, lovat hose). Shoes are oxfords or brogues. Flashes are worn like garters at the top of the hose/sock and a small knife called a sgian dhu is worn in the right sock. In 'full dress' which is depicted, with the doublet, plaid (cape) and cross belt, another dagger, called a 'dirk' is worn on the waist belt. Some other fun facts - Kilts often have a kilt pin, but some also have a 'kilt panel' on the front right and rosettes on back - a variation is seen on this RRS uniforms - not typically worn on 'regular' kilts - again see Calgary Highlanders, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Those were typical worn by NCOs and officers as well. The hat you see in video is called a feather bonnet and the red plume in it is called a hackel. More 'regular' head dresses that are often worn are called a glengarry, the tam o'shanter and balmoral. The Glengarry (and probably the balmoral) has a lot of symbolism to it (two peaks are highlands, tail is the following river. Hope you find these facts interesting!
British Coldstream Guards (king’s guards, I guess now). - you know the ones with the bearskins and red uniform. Very interesting permutations depending on rank. In fact, all of the ceremonial British uniforms are pretty badass, as you may have seen recently, with the new king and all that jazz.
Collectively there are 5 regiments of foot guards in the British Army and two cavalry regiments. They are all professional soldiers with hundreds of years of history and tradition behind them. They rotate through ceremonial duties in places such as London and on various military exercises. Each foot guards regiment will have different collar cuff and button formation on their scarlet tunics denoting the various regiment. The two cavalry regiments wear different coloured tunics one scarlet the other blue. They make up the household division. Various other regiments and corps have their own traditional dress uniforms as do the Royal Marines, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.
The Philadelphia City Cavalry, Front braids in the jacket were originally stiff wire, it protected against sword slashes, the shoulder boards intended to protect the shoulder blades from downward slashes. It's all from an era where armour would not stop a musket ball, but cavalry were expected to get into serious sword play (usually with other cavalry) so some protection is required. You will see Hussars with the small cape with the wire braid on it over one shoulder (to protect the arm holding the reins), even the Napoleonic fashion of braids of hair down the side of the face concealed bone, hard wood or even metal rods to protect the face from sword cuts.
2:30 It is a standard winter uniform which is worn by all personnel. He is a Lt Col from the Ordinance corps. The cravat on the other hand can only be worn on ceremonies and it is for the wearer to decide what suits best.
Two things: 1) The item in front of the kilt is called a sporran; 2) the Marine Corps "Mess Dress" is actually called the "Evening Dress." The Mess Dress was retired back in the 1970's - 80's. It consisted of a white dinner jacket vice the dark blue. There were other small differences as well, but I wanted to point these things out. Otherwise and interesting, well-presented video. Thanks! Major Brooks Wilson, USMC (Ret) (1967-87).
The cover worn by the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry was practical against other cavalry; it's called a dragoon helmet, after the cavalry type that first used it. Dragoons were heavy cavalry units that were primarily used to conduct large cavalry charges, which necessitated the use of armor, hence the armored helmet and. They are not to be confused with cuirassiers, however who wore both the helmet and a breastplate called a cuirass. (this is a generalization and of course there were exceptions)
wow... you really heard me the last time when i asked you to review Indian Army's uniform huh... my gosh I never thought you will do it... love and great respect for you man 🙏👏
What i like about the nordic uniform is that they got rid of belt loops. No point in using a belt when you can use internal laces, so that you can comfortably wear a battlebelt when you need it.
The "front part of the kilt"? Are you talking about the "Fluffy part".....which is a pouch called the sporan. Also the RRS aren't wearing "socks" in that picture.... they're wearing white canvas spats with tartan hose tops under the spats
The kilt is simple. 2 Aprons, 27 to 31 box pleats (military kilt always box pleats), a belt and a sporran. That part at the front, that's the apron. And most kilts are made from 7 linear yards of tartan wool fabric

The hanging front part of the kilt is called a Sporran and is actually a pouch...because there ain't no pockets on a kilt. That's were you stow your essentials and such.
as someone going to the navy, i might be biased but i love the dress blues, they’re my favorite out of all the branches. they just look SO good and yeah when they fit well, theyre amazing. im always shocked every time i see them
As a scot I was very pleased to see our lads on this list.
The front part of a kilt, the pouch/bag is called sporan
Brushstroke camo is very nice too!
It sure is.
Lol the comment at 2:00 about polishing black boots, brings me back to my police academy days.
Been watching your posts great fun and Educational thank you, if you get the chance try wearing some of them
Those shoulder pads with a little bit of lace, the fringe, on them are called epaulets (or epaullets).
2:26 that's a indian TES army uniform! Do check Blue Patrol indian army uniform you'll love it!
Could you include and judge polish Mundur Podhalański in next video? It has traditional highlander's hats, capes, and functional, but unusual boots.

Check out the Canadian Forces “Royal Military College(RMC)” pretty sharp and classic. Simple red coat but the details make it work
what watch are you wearing in this video? I usually never depart from the scuba (seiko sk) and field (hamilton khaki similar) watches, but I wanted to get a low cost thinner and 43-45mm alternative. Thanks.
When you are talking about the front part of the kilt, are you asking about the sporran?
Thanks for including the Navy dress blue crackerjack. I loved that uniform when I was in 1966-70. Then the pants had thirteen buttons on the front flap. Now they also have a dress white crackerjack that really looks nice.
I love the dress uniforms of Podhale Rifles (Polish mountain infantry). Cool insignia - edelweiss flower, hats with eagle feather and awesome overcoats thrown over one shoulder.
“Shoulder pads” are epaulettes. The lace depending from them is fringe. Supposed to protect from sword blows.
Hi Anthony, have you ever seen the French matelot uniform with the red pompom on the hat?
I was just writing about the Italian Carabinieri when you mentioned :-)
Where can i find that panting you have in the backround?
I love the Philadelphia cavalry uniform. I just love napoleon and pre-napoleonic uniforms and learning that the US, even if it's just one battalion, was sporting such a uniform was an absolute delight.
It’s not even a BN. It’s a Troop level element.
Absolutely loved this content. Subscribed Looking for more. Thank you!
The Chilean military dress uniform with the Prussian inspiration is awesome!!
9:35 - you talking about the sporran?
Very interesting. I made my military service in 1986 with the 1st. Bn. (Now redesigned as regiment) "Tuscania", the paratroop unit of the Carabinieri.
The pouch that is on the Scottish uniform is called a Sporran it is the "pockets" of the kilt.
The Maron beret is only for the most Elite forces only( SF, Airborn, those heavy-duty guys ,signifies Sacrifice)
The second uniform was the - Ceremonial uniform of INDIAN para military and some of the Infantry regiments ( various types of ceremonial uniforms are there but the common thing is you get to ware the cool Cravat 😉
I dont know the 1st one,
the 2nd one is NSG Uniform,
3rd one is PARA/PARA SF Unifrom
colour coded berets is something we germans also do. Bordeaux red is used by guys in troops like the paratroopers and KSK, Black is used by tankers and recons.....
Loved my Jet Jammies! Always looked cool and very comfortable (except middle of summer or middle of winter)
Hey Antonio, what do you think of the Argentine Regiment of Patricians' uniform?
On front, OVER the front, of the kilt is the sporan. A pouch used as a pocket, which kilts can not have.
you should give your two cents on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Red serge and officer's uniforms. im curious to see what you think!
You should do a video on West Point Military Academy Uniforms
The uniform shown at 2:29 is from the Indian police service
The new US Army Green Service Uniform looks sharp, but the one thing I dislike about it is the garrison hat that looks too close to our USMC version in the way of it's shape. The last Army garrison hat I've seen worn a little over 21 years ago or so had pointed corners rather than rounded on the tops both forward and aft. I'm glad the USMC hasn't had to change it's style and color of our service and dress uniforms too much in almost a century if that.
The WWII service cap had the rounded corners...
That object on the front of the kilt of the kilt is a sporran. It's basically a pouch that takes the place of a pocket or haversack.
The pouch in front of the kilt is called a sporran
I LOVE the new army service dress.
Can you do a video on American State Police Uniforms.
Plz talk about the Royal Canadian Mounties!
You said Coldstream Guards while showing a picture of a Grenadier Guard. I expect you'll hear a strong harrumph or two about that.
BTW. The Nordic Combat Uniform is going to have colors. Different camouflage patterns for each country.
What about the British royal household guard dress uniform (The ones with the tall black hats)
wow... you really heard me the last time when i asked you to review Indian Army's uniform huh... my gosh I never thought you will do it... love and great respect for you man 🙏👏
What i like about the nordic uniform is that they got rid of belt loops. No point in using a belt when you can use internal laces, so that you can comfortably wear a battlebelt when you need it.
Can you make a video about the Bashibozuks and the other Ottoman troops?
Cam'ron's, Mark McNairy cape collection is really cool and modern.
Indian Army - Brown Shirts: It is a Legacy Winter Uniform from the British Army called Sam Brown.
The front part of the kilt is called a sporran.
Talk about the Caatinga warriors of the Brazilian Army 🇧🇷
The "front part of the kilt"?
Are you talking about the "Fluffy part".....which is a pouch called the sporan.
Also the RRS aren't wearing "socks" in that picture.... they're wearing white canvas spats with tartan hose tops under the spats
Out of the topic, quick question, what are your thoughts on rugger polo?
The little front pocket is called a sporran
I've learned alot from you over the years! Thanks!
One I really like is the full formal rnzaf (with blazer) blues or the army green service dress with the lemon squeezer hat (nz army)
I love the shoulder insignia and the sam browne belt worn by the Turkish air force officers
The shoes are called grilled brogues and front is a horsehair sporran which is Gaelic for purse cause ofcourse there's no pockets on a kilt
The kilt is simple. 2 Aprons, 27 to 31 box pleats (military kilt always box pleats), a belt and a sporran. That part at the front, that's the apron. And most kilts are made from 7 linear yards of tartan wool fabric
