- I've been living in Kyoto for 1 year now and these are my top 11 favorite places to get vegan food here! (In no particular order btw). There are SO many more good vegan spots in Kyoto so let me know if you like this one and I'll make more videos like this in the future~ ^ ^

Oooh, I wish you published this two weeks earlier. Just came back from Kyoto. Itadaki Zen was indeed a culinary highlight for us. Two more personal favorites that didn't make your list: Vegan Ramen TowZen and Vegginy.

@@rebekkasmith6612 I wouldn’t call it a must have. The food at Choice is always fine but if you want a more special experience I’d look at some of the places in the video, like Itadaki Zen.

When I went to Japan in 2019 I made a google maps list of all the vegan places I visited and wanted to visit! Sadly many of the places permanently closed because of the pandemic. I’m happy to see there are still options in Tokyo!
Yess so many more opened up luckily, especially in Kyoto! ^^

Thanks for that, in April we were so unlucky, NO restaurant were open when we needed it and we needed to live of 7Eleven... In 2 years we will be back and this time we will try this out
Oh nooo, the secret hack to finding out if a restaurant is open is to check their instagram, the Google hours are not reliable here unfortunately 😅

Oh yeah, there are LOTS, almost all of the vegan restaurants will have GF options too. I’ll make a separate video for GF specific places. Thanks for the comment! ^^

Great video, thanks for sharing! How accommodating are standard non vegan restaurants in Japan as a whole to make things vegan-friendly?
Non vegan restaurants are not vegan friendly, however there are a lot of restaurants in Kyoto and Tokyo that offer clearly labeled vegan options even if they’re not a vegan restaurant!
is the label for vegan that little green flower you showed, is that the case everywhere in japan or just that cafe?

How would it be possible explore the culture of Japan if you were a vegan since it would be impossible eat any of the classic Japanese cuisine
In tokyo theres actually lots of opportunities to try vegan version of classic Japanese dishes. I’ll be making a video on some good spots soon 😬
