Weekend trip from Tokyo ll Where to see Fall leaves in Japan 🍁 ll Nasu Highlands Tochigi Japan
Fall in Japan is still going strong, so my boyfriend Hyuma and I decided to check out the Nasu Highlands in Tochigi. I’d never heard of it before, but I’m so glad we went-it’s such a peaceful and quiet spot! The fall leaves were absolutely beautiful, and since it’s a bit of a hidden gem, there weren’t many people around. It turned out to be the perfect little autumn getaway~

CHALLENGE! Speaking ONLY Japanese for a Day at an Intermediate Level! Ft. Shota from @newrealmjapan!
Переглядів 4483 місяці тому
Sharing my favorite spots in my favorite Tokyo neighborhood while speaking only Japanese for the day. Not gonna lie this was rough and I almost didn’t post it because..well.. I’m super embarrassed and it was hard to see all of the mistakes I made caught on film. BUT I do think it’s important to share the journey and not just the success on the end, so decided to be vulnerable and put this out t...

Apartment Hunting in Japan!! Featuring Tours of Actual Apartments We Looked At!
Thanks for sharing. I read somewhere there are 880 steps. Is that true? Was it primarily the steps to get up to the caves or is there a lot inside too? Are they spaced out or all at once? I just want to make sure I can handle this cool experience.
Hello! Yes there were 880 steps but they were spaced out. I think it's easy to do as long as you go slow. It's better to go slow anyway so you can appreciate the whole thing ^^
Great video! How many hours this you spend in Shirakawago? (excluding the travel time) :)
Thanks for watching! I don't remember exactly but it wasn't too long, maybe like 3-5 hours?
Dreamy
Peace
Looks great, love kiwi. Nice edit!
I will be visiting Japan soon. Do you know if they washed all these before selling?
Sorry I’m not sure 😅
Is this hidden on purpose or ?
Not hidden on purpose just not many people know if it ^^
How long are your work days? And how much Japanese do you need to know before you move to Japan?
My work days were from 11.45am-9pm with a 1 hour lunch break (so 8 hours and 15 minutes + the 1 hour lunch break) I didn’t have to know any Japanese but it will definitely enrich your life here if you know some!
@ChefinJapan thank you! ❤️
Hello, what's the name of the shop and where is it located? 😊
Look up “Vintage Kimono An Gion” on Google maps
This place was called Vintage Kimono AN Gion. It's in Kyoto near Yasaka Shrine ^^
what I'm wondering is if there's Saturday off (for religious reasons)
There is no Saturdays off for the eikakwa school I worked for. You’d have weekends off if you worked as an ALT (assistant language teacher) in a school though!
Very helpful thank you
Nothing. It taste like shit and we all know it
The video is great! May I ask how cold was it around this time? We plan to have our honeymoon here this December 30th. It's our first time to visit a cold place, and I'm still thinking if we can handle the cold. I'm from a tropical country. Thanks in advance! :)
Hello, sorry for the late reply! It was cold, but as long as you're bundled up I think it will be fine! I also recommend buy "kaero" (hand warmers) at the convenience store before you go~ Also congratulations! I hope you guys have a great honeymoon ^^
Queen approved 😂
Beautiful vid! Thanks for sharing
Dude I went there during golden week this year it was lit
I have absolutely no idea
It's a tough one 😆 Super underrated, Kagawa prefecture!
Hi! How did you travel around? Were the roads icy and dangerous to drive? Any recommendations for driving around Nagoya/Takayama/Shirakawa? I’ll be in the area in end Feb 2025!
Hello! We rented a car. You can g by bus as well, but I def recommend renting a car for this one if you can! The roads were a bit icy, but we just drove slowly and it was fine! The rental car company will give you some special tires when you tell them the location you're going to~
I’m a college student working part time and I made 24k in one year and I live in Florida! Those salaries are horrendous😭
They're horrendous if you convert them to USD, but when you're living in Japan it's actually a pretty normal salary and you're able to live a normal fulfilling life and even travel within the country. It becomes a problem when you want to visit home though as the value of the yen is awful right now. 😆
This video is so colorful. Bright and full of crisp vibes. Thank you for sharing again !
Yay thank you for watching again ^^
Are there vegan options in the countryside? I’d love to visit someday and would really like to see some of the small towns but I’m guessing any prepared meals would not be vegan.
There occasionally vegan restaurants in the countryside! I've been surprised by how many I've been able to fine. They're not reliable though as the countryside restaurants close randomly and early. The countryside ones are always BOMB though since it's all made from scratch with love usually by one passionate person~
Thanks for showing the newbie nihongo side! Makes me feel better and was great for listening comprehension practice. Please do more!
Thanks so much for this comment! I'm so glad to hear it was helpful since it was very hard for me to post 😆
Thank you for this! Skipping Kyoto for Kanazawa!
No offense but you look like the female version of Engineering Explained lol
What website
Oakhouse !
This looks great! What part of the city was it at? I’m looking into booking for next year.
This was in Fussa Tokyo. It’s through the company Oakhouse ^^
@ thank you so much ☺️

Hello 👋
Hii 👋
@ChefinJapan hello 👋🏽 Japan 🗾
Nova is back?
how do we know if it's not fake or repro?
I'm not sure but someone in the comments of my Instagram video on this shop said this: "I’m Japanese, but I like this shop too. They’re not fake antiques. These are really old items, from about 150 to 80 years ago,but they were originally cheap tableware, or the designs are too old to fit with modern Japanese dining tables and interiors, so they’re not popular with anyone other than people who like old things. I think they’re probably buying a lot of tableware that comes out when old houses and storehouses are cleaned out at low prices. Some of the pieces have pictures made with rubber blocks and some are handwritten, and some have black spots like dimples on surfaces that should be smooth."
thank you! this video has been mostly helpful than so many other videos I watched; I'm saving money to move to japan and get an artist visa. and I want to live in a colder climate in a city that's not big but not fully villagy and rural either. so you've been a life saver narrowing down my choices!
I’m so happy to hear it was helpful! Best of luck!! ^^
@@AmberJapanTravels thank you! I think I'll be moving somewhere in hokkaido or northern honshu. idk exactly how the mountain region is but my bf doesn't like extreme cold much so I want to go somewhere that won't bother him much but still be cold XD
i'd be so scared to knock something over. so cool though!
What is the hotel called and where can i find the foot bath? :3
Here's all the info ^^ Japanese Inn 📍山中温泉白鷺湯たわらや (Yamanaka Onsen Shirasagiyu Tawaraya) Forest Cafe 📍 鶴仙渓川床 (Kakusenkei River Bed- Kawadoko) Antique Shops 📍 山中伊切線 (Yamanaka Ikiri Line- there were many along this street) Mont Blanc 📍 モンブラン・芋スイーツ Monta-Yu 加賀 (Mont Blanc Imo Sweets Monta-Yu Kaga) Foot bath 📍Near the local Family Mart (they were all over the place, I don’t have the exact location of this one but if you wander around a bit you should be able to find it easily ^^
second one isn't bad, but it's definitely not "two bedroom". Price and size of the place is pretty good, but not sure if I'd be willing to walk up and down the stairs inside my home lol
Jindaiji soba ... My favourite since I was a little kid...
It’s the best ✨^^
Please try this new resturant. “Mercy Vegan Factory” Kyoto station. It’s was 10/10 and we are not vegan! Just staying at hotel, arrived late and were hungry. Curry was amazing and so was the sweet and sour cauliflower. Wonderful surprise. Richele Detroit MI
Ahh omg I have to go, thanks for the recommendation!
I bet the key money and contract fee is expensive though 😪
There’s no key money for this one! And you can get a 10% discount off the agent fee if you use the code “amber” 😉
yeah probably sadly
yaki soba?
It’s not the yaki kind, but same type of noodle! 😆
Wow! Good video! Thanks! Fyi.
Thanks for watching!~ ^^
Soooo, where is it?
It’s in Chofu by Jindaiji temple !~ ^^
In Mongolia
that pot was adorable! you did awesome!
Ahh haha thanks so much! 😅
Looks like fall ! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! ^^
I bought my stamp book from a stationery store and never got bothered about it! Unless you mean don't bring a regular notebook?
It depends, some stationary stores do have official books.., But yeah regular stamp books are definitely a no!
Hey Chef in Japan. You are still here and I think you have managed to changed your yt name as it was once called chef in NY????
Hii yes I’m still here! It used to be New Yorker in Japan, you remembered??? 😭😭😭
Great vid!
Thanks for watching ^^
the places & experiences look interesting - could have a walking tour group :D may want to join
Ahh that would be so fun, maybe one day 🤞🏻
I always wanna say Japan has one of the most interesting and vibrant cultures I’ve ever seen and it’s always just a blast seeing videos and hearing about it but then I remember I look like a discord moderator and whenever I say that it comes across very differently than what I want it to
Hahah the culture is really vibrant and interesting and it’s different in different parts of the country too which makes it so fun for travel~
wow!! this was such a cool video, I really liked both of your Japonese! Gives me hope to get good at it one day!
Thanks so much for saying that, and for watching!~ ^^ 頑張りましょう~
Are any/all of those quarantine/vaccination proof/etc policies still in place in Japan as of 11/14/2024??
Nope! There are no more Covid measures to enter the country~ ^^
