    That was a great tour!
    Bio Cafe also has a lot of gluten free options.
    In the convenience stores, be aware that even plain onigiri can have dashi with bonito or other animal products.
    I would like to see more places where we can buy organic food in Japan, if you are staying longer and feel like sharing that.
    Thank you for sharing.

      Thank you very much! Oh that's great, Bio Cafe is really a nice place in the middle of Shibuya. To find vegan onigiri is truly not easy but the plain salted one at 7/11 is vegan. We believe the most vegan-friendly organic supermarket (chain) is Bio c' Bon, you can find it at several places in Tokyo and some other cities in Japan. Thank you for sharing and watching!

    i didnt know they posted food allergens like that. pretty cool

    • @theveganjetset
      @theveganjetset  5 місяців тому +3

      Yeah it's really nice! Usually it doesn't help that much because in Europe for example, many vegan items still have the "might contain dairy, etc." info even if they're vegan! But in Japan it's really helpful because if it doesn't contain dairy in the ingredients, it's also often marked as dairy-free on the list of allergens. 👍

    Thanks for the tips. Is it all almond milk that you need to be aware of or just the Starbucks one?

      @theveganjetset  2 місяці тому +1

      "Olympic Supermarket" is a chain store but this one is located in Ochanomizu near Akihabara, right in front of our hotel we stayed at. We have the hotel review on our channel as well.

    The matcha tea and roasted sweet potato seemed to be the healthiest items on offer. The rest was mainly sugary, highly processed items. Is this typical of the modern Japanese diet - lots of ultra-processed rubbish?

    • @theveganjetset
      @theveganjetset  19 днів тому +1

      There are mainly sugary desserts and cakes, as you would expect from the usual dessert places in the world. Bakeries usually have sweet bread and less natural bread. But Japan is known for having good healthy alternatives, especially traditional ones. Before you write another negative comment, you might want to consider that everyone is free to eat what they want. We are two travelers who share what we experienced and ate on our private vacation. You are absolutely free to eat at places that are healthier.

    • @MoniqueRBuckner
      @MoniqueRBuckner 19 днів тому

      @theveganjetset you posted this under cafes, takeaways and supermarkets so of course I'm surprised that the selection of food that you showcased is mainly highly processed and unhealthy. I had envisaged the food available to be a bit more nourishing from these places. Of course bakeries sell sugary, fat-laden products but the video was not captioned 'bakeries'.

    • @MoniqueRBuckner
      @MoniqueRBuckner 19 днів тому

      @theveganjetset but which places are healthier if you say this is available at cafes and supermarkets? This is literally where people source food from.
      I am not criticising you. Why are you taking my comment as a personal attack?
      I am expressing surprise at the lack of healthy wholefoods at cafes and supermarkets.

    • @theveganjetset
      @theveganjetset  2 дні тому

      We don't know what exactly you're trying to say because this video's first chapter is bakeries and we wrote "let's start with bakeries". If you want to see what's available at restaurants, we cover some in part 2.
      We didn't share about fruits and vegetables in the supermarket, because it's very obviously vegan and doesn't need to be explained. We wanted to rather show things that are unexpectedly vegan or places that are vegan-friendly. What we show is just a small part of Tokyo's vegan spots but they have a lot more than that, from healthy to unhealthy, there's everything available. You're free to visit any place you want when you're there and when our video was helpful for your trip, it'd be great to hear it!
