Only 2 minutes into the video, and you've already given me more useful information than all the other videos I watched on youtube. I'm so happy I found your account! Thank you so much. Arigatou gozaimasu c:
This is such an informative and helpful video! I am vegetarian/mostly plant-based and want to travel to Japan one day, so this was amazing to watch! I had no idea about half of these resources 🤗 Thanks so much! 💕
Thank you all so much for watching! Check the description for links to everything we stated above, AS WELL AS a bonus tip😘. Which restaurant that we mentioned made you the most excited? Let us know below!
Funadeya partnered with Postmates International to bring you overnight meals. For only 3 easy payments of 29.99, you could have a home-cooked meal from Japan!
thanks - very thorough. I am planning a trip this summer, and would normally eat vegetarian, but I wonder if you ever feel like you are not really experiencing the culture in Japan by not eating most of their most popular foods...I assume you can't just plop down at a cool place and order something, however small, on the menu, like you can do in the West....or do you just think you need to forgo some of the experiences....
Domo arigato Chance and Sarah 🙇♀️, so many great tips! We found a little japanese grocery store that we buy vegan groceries and treats from. The owner is teaching us some basic japanese for our trip, how cute right? 😊🥰
I believe we talked about that a lot in the video! But even reading the ingredients isn’t good enough sometimes because of the food label laws in Japan, you need to contact the company to make sure they aren’t using bone char processed sugar etc.
I don't ever trust ingredients lists in UK (where I live) or US, as ingredients like lactic acid (50/50 animal derived or not) for example could be used to preserve vegetarian olives. Now I understand it is likely not to include animal products but if it doesn't have any vegan labelling you can never be sure
@@PAndrewsPro If there's a Vegan logo it should be fine. I don't know about other country's food Law but in North America because they have to go through a food inspection agency, they can't claim their products are Vegan or it has this and that ingredients in it. If it's not what they say it is, they would be shut down. Plant based is not always, Vegan it means Vegetarian as well. If it contains regular sugar, it will have Gelatin in the ingredients from Animal bones. Which means it's not a true Vegan process food.
@@static_Tricolor_camry Exactly, I always stick to vegan labelled food as I know its okay, but what I meant and like you pointed out is, just seeing no animal products on the ingredients list (without a vegan label) is not enough. - really good example with gelatin and bone char too!!
Unfortunately, the word vegan is a pretty new concept in Japan and therefore the word isn’t often recognized. Although, I bet it is a lot better now. Another problem is that companies aren’t required to label all ingredients so there could be unlabeled ingredients that aren’t vegan that the only way to know would be to contact the company. But, if you are pretty fluent it would make the conversation a lot easier!
I really hope that petition will change the future for vegans and vegetarians in Japan!!
Same! I think, with enough people's support, anything is possible!!
In japanese countryside you can eat vegetable tempura with salt, rice and noodle soups based on kombu dashi.

We’re so happy to hear that! That’s the whole reason we made this channel! Because we wish we could’ve found something similar!
i'm traveling to Japan next week and was nervous about finding vegan restaurants- so this video is so helpful! thank you
I never thought about the difference between being a vegan tourist in Japan vs living in Japan as a vegan!!
It can get quite difficult depending on the area you've moved to! We have some friends who basically order groceries online which gets expensive FAST
That really is crazy to imagine!! I hope that gets better sometime soon!
You guys deseve more subscribers. Thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for this video! I plan on visiting this year and I was afraid of not having good options available.
Thank you! This is so helpful! Im planning to visit Okinawa and hopefully they'll be lots of plant based options. And yes, having a kitchen is KEY!

Ahh! That's SO cute!!
The locals all over Japan are so incredibly nice and helpful!
As always, thank you so much for your kind words! 🙇🏼♀️🙇🏾♂️
There was a prefecture where they serve only vegan sushi
This makes me so happy 😭 love the vegan community.
We gotta help each other out!

Pancakes make my man ACHE
Thank you for this!!! Sooo helpful. I am vegetarian, and everytime I go to Japan I end up eating a lot of carbs
Carbs aren’t always a bad thing 😉
But following a diet on vacation is always a struggle 😩
Some products are Vegan, but they don't say Vegan on the label. You have to read through the entire ingredients carefully, before buying it.

I would say you even have to scrutinise plant based labelling as this is isn't always a guarantee of being vegan - stay cautious out there 🌱✌️

Too many people say you cannot be vegan in Asia. I think they just make excuses for themselves!
Which city has most vegan population? I want to move my vegan cafe to Japan
We aren’t sure! But one could assume it would be somewhere in Tokyo just based off of the population in general!
@@SarahandChanceWorldwide thanks. Will see.
I also think it isn't too hard to ask a 711 staff member I Japanese, Is this vegan? I am in Thailand. As a vegan, you can't just rely on English!

i thought we muslims are the only ones who try to call companies to get more information ^^
Vegan does not mean that one has to look like vegetables😅😅
That’s true, but it sure is fun😘
Vegan fried chicken give me strength! How toxic is that to consume..
