  • A busy Sunday morning followed by a brisk ride on both my motorcycles got me thinking about what makes the S2 Del Mar different from the LiveWire One. This is by no means a technical comparative analysis - just a high concept view of what separates these two incredible motorcycles.

    As a family, we have been sold on the EV lifestyle. dont get me wrong. I will keep my old ford powerstroke but for our daily lives, especially in southern California, an EV makes way to much sense. We have one now for my wife and its used for everything.
    I daily a motorcycle( Triumph Trident) and have for over a decade now. The Livewire One is on the top of my list. Im just a bit worried about its highway range. My normal commute is 10mi. But I also have a bi-monthly 65mi round trip. Id love to see them adopt a higher level 2 charging rate and/or upgrade the DCFC to 40-50kw.
    great review of the two bikes. thanks!

      Depending on speeds, it'll manage 65 miles - you'd have to peg it out at 80-85mph constantly to see range like that. I doubt we'll see another version or revision of the LiveWire One

    You’re explanation between the two bikes makes perfect sense.

    EV manufacturers puzzle me. The single biggest concern, whether thinking of an automobile or a motorcycle is range anxiety. This is the last thing that can be sacrificed. Unfathomable that the new motorcycle has less range.

      It's physics, smaller battery means lighter weight. It's not always about going the farthest or super far. Quite easy to have a fantastic adventure within 80-90 miles.

    I like the Del Mar and it’s price point. But for me I needed to get the full package, and needed the little bit of extra range that the one offered. I do not regret it, but I hope the Del Mar gets some love, I need to see this technology evolve more.

    When I tried the Delmar, it seemed to tip into corners much more easily than my lw1. My tires are pretty fresh as well but I'm sure I could get a more aggressive profile sport tire for similar results

      Del Mar has narrower tires, less contact patch than the LW1

    That’s a shame didn’t come fully charged, great looking bike though I like the way livewire are heading. Funny seeing you put gas in a car lol

    Hey Ben did you raise your bars on the livewire one?

      On the stock bike, yes. Diego Cardenas sells some 1 inch risers. On my custom bike, it uses pan America risers

    Thanks for the comparison. I was curious about trading the one in for the del mar, but I think I'll hold off. You might have already answered, but why did you decide to own both?

      Motorcycles are the tools to give us the experiences we're looking for. I wanted a fun EV motorcycle that had good level 2 charging rates and decent range. I live in the mountains, and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of gravel/dirt trails that lead to really interesting sites and places to see. Del Mar is ready to go, without really any modifications, to give me that experience.

      @AdventuresonZero , I basically live in a rural-esque suburb so my livewire is more of a commuter. Fortunately my commute has some twisties tho.

      @@AdventuresonZero Wouldn't a Zero FX be a better tool for that job? :P

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero  7 місяців тому

      @@elbowsout6301 not for my likings. Zero FX would need 3 quiq chargers, squid cable, and J1772 adapter to be able to maintain the distance the Del Mar can cover without needing to carry more weight. Plus I'm no longer keen on Zero Motorcycles ever since my DSR had multiple failures. I'm not a fan of Zero's repair policy

    As a beginner starting out to ride motorcycles, Of these two which do you think would be the better option, and if the answer is the one, Is that extra price worth it

      They are equally great motorcycles, and I would recommend either one. Each has advantages and disadvantages depending on what you're doing. What kind of rides/adventures are you wanting to have?

    Do you also keep the LW1 battery at 80% during winter?

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero  7 місяців тому +1

      That’s what I’m keeping at 80%. I won’t be riding it regularly, so keep it at 80% as a precaution in case I don’t ride it more than 30 days
