Thanks for the video. Kit ordered. This is our second Korean-made refrigerator. The first lasted 12 years, but I had to repair it every year. This one is 4 years old, the most expensive one we have every bought and my wife is ready to junk it. Its sad. When refrigerators were made in the US, they didn't cost a huge amount, they worked and lasted a lifetime. Yes they required some maintenance and they weren't eye candy, but you could count on them. We have a Kelvinator refrigerator in our basement that was made in 1948. It still runs.
@@jimsaake7876 I finally got time to install the kit. I will let you know. The only issue I ran into was reinstalling the auger motor assembly. The new heated drain tube kept snagging on the drain hole at the back. I solve the problem by carefully wedging a soft piece of styrofoam (packing peanut) between the drain tube insulation and the plastic housing under the drain tube to hold it up a bit higher. When replacing the circuit board I noticed both the old circuit board and replacement board have an unpleasant odor that I normally associate with a fried circuit board. Apparently, that is normal.
Great job on this video. We have 2 Samsung French Door Fridges. I spent a miserable couple of years trying to solve the ice maker problems on the first one, which was built it 2012. Gave up on it, relegated it to the Garage, and bought another Samsung, vintage 2017, this time with an additional ice maker in the freezer. The new fridge has worked very well so far, with light use on the upper ice maker, but it just started having a problem - not recognizing a full ice bucket, and continuing to make ice cubes until they jam up the whole assembly. I cleaned out and turned off the upper ice make in the interim, so it is not an emergency problem. As soon as I finish work on a more pressing non-refrigerator issue in our home, I'll be back to your website for parts, most likely the sensor in the auger assembly or the main board, I suspect. Technician installed our Samsung Icemaker Repair Kit today including sealant, new icemaker, Y-clips, small rectangular gasket, drain pipe & heater as well as new motherboard. Fortunately covered by purchased Extended Service Plan. Hope it works. I did 7 consecutive Forced Defrosts (Fd) prior to his arrival. Yesterday he said the icemaker was a solid block of ice and told owner to defrost for 48 hours with doors open so he could remove and replace parts.
@@PartsDr Previously the Icemaker could not be turned Off even though I pushed the Off button and it showed the Lock button but it still continued to make ice. @@jimsaake7876 Yes we have had no problems since the Technician installed all the parts in the Repair Kit. Our issue was not as serious as some have reported but seeing we were down to the last few months on the 3 year Extended Service Plan it was a no-brainer to make the claim and the Tech says he probably does one a day so the problem is extremely widespread. Hopefully with all the issues Samsung had with these ice makers they did so extensive research and developed a series of fixes that would be effective. So far after only 3 months it appears they have solved the issue, the ice maker feeds ice properly every time and has never frozen up whereby the auger cannot turn. @@brianbaker359 Thank you for the quick reply. I do not see any Class Actions available for this model. I am a technician and can do the repair. Your answer confirms it is worth the spend on these parts. Did the serviceman complete the whole installation without your refrigerator being emptied and down? How long did it take him?
Absolutely the best I have seen yet on this very common problem. I am calling HD Extended Service Plan and will be asking for the motherboard replacement as other reviewers have said the new software is programmed to more frequently defrost the ice maker.
Great instruction. I completed the parts replacement 3 weeks ago and have had no build-up since. I had way more difficulty getting the auger back in place than what was shown in the video, but I finally got it to click into place. On a positive note, I've noticed that my refrigerator no longer randomly switches among water, cube or crushed ice when not in use. Implies to me that I had a defective board from the beginning.
Same here. The auger motor with the new drain wouldn't snap back in place regardless of how hard I pushed it. I tried several times and spent over an hour on it. I ended up replacing the drain with the original. All other parts fit okay. It's disappointing I had to pay $200 for parts and waste a lot of time installing them when it's Samsung's defect.
@@PartsDr My Samsung ice maker shute continually has water build up that pours out every morning when I go to use the ice maker. Can you direct me to the most likely repair parts needed?
Thank you so much for this comprehensive video. Like many people, i have struggle with Samsung ice maker for a long time. I have since replaced all the parts mentioned in this video, except for ice maker. Now the ice maker is working wonderfully for months now. Your solution really works for me. Thanks again!
This is great video to show us how to install and remove parts. We need to know how to test each of the parts to determine whether they need to be replaced. How else are we going to know what part to buy unless all parts are replaced one at a time.
Just wanted to say very good video, explains why they have so many defects in their products, Very inexperienced company on making Appliances. Just eye candy!!!!!!
Technician did our 3 year old Samsung French Door about a month ago. Took him about an hour. He thanked me for doing Forced Defrost (add) about 6 consecutive times before his arrival. Done on a HD Extended Service Plan with only a couple of months remaining on warranty.
@@PartsDr He also did some silicone caulking. Sounds like it is an extremely common problem. He thought the motherboard replacement provides updated software to have a longer period of automatic defrost. Hope it works.
As I don't have much appliance repair experience, I'm so dissappointed my model doesn't have a kit! "Problem solve which parts to order" is beyond my skill scope. Not your fault, though! Thank you for the video.
Heads up - while you have the ice auger motor out, check the operation of the small 12V fan that is mounted on top of it. Mine would start and stop, and sometimes not start at all, when supplied with 12V power. Ice was all frosty and clumping. I replaced the fan while doing the service kit and have great ice now. Fan really could have been all that I needed, but there are some design changes with the new ice maker and defrost tube and mother board so all in all I feel I'll be good now. Note did not mess with caulking the ice compartment. Could not even slip a small piece of paper between the joint and also it passed the flashlight test.
First, great video! Second, shame on Samsung. I have a full kitchen of Samsung appliances, but will NEVER buy another Samsung anything after dealing with this ice maker issue for years (after spending ~$3,500 for the fridge alone). For those of us that don't have a backup fridge/ freezer what a disaster this is to actually fix it correctly (and following this video). I mean who can empty out there fridge and have it at room temperature for the amount of time this takes!? At what point is it a good time to have to replace ALL food items in your fridge/ freezer?? Ugh...
Same here, under warranty and I also have a kitchen full of Samsung appliances. Everything works except the Ice Maker and we pd $3200. for our Fridge. My scheduled service has been cancelled 4 times now and I'm totally frustrated, may think about doing it myself. They had the new ice maker sent to my home so it's tempting to fix the problem on my own!
This was helpful. I installed the kit and was pretty straight forward following this video. Unfortunately the PCB board supplied does not work. Fridge only cooled 10 degrees and then started to increase. After 8 hours I put the original PCB back in. Everything is working. We will see if ice still builds up. Samsung confirmed I had correct kit but no help on replacement PCB. Anyone else with this issue?
HI, I found out my blue waterline for the water keeps freezing. I also have problems where I need to manually defrost the fridge. Could this potentially solve both issues? Since the water line runs through a tunnel that also happens to be near the icemaker, I think this makes the most sense.
How did you find all this out? I am a month in as a new service tech and I hate the fixes I've been trained about. This is so helpful. No one has told me about the ice dispenser seal or proper depth of fill tube in the back... How did you find all this information? Samsung ice rooms are terrible... see them so much
Awesome video guys. Using the lots as a reference. Got an icemaker that won't fill up with water. Even if I push the test button. Is there a water level sensor in the ice bucket that I can check? How does the water valve to the ice bucket know when to open and close?
I did everything as suggested but when pushing the auger motor in it stops about 2mm away from fully clicking in place . Any ideas? Is the new tube preventing it from going all the way?
to assist in the defrost you can place a cup/mug of hot water in the ice maker compartment the steam coming from the hot water will help with a defrost
Hi Your video is excellent. I have another problem maybe you know how to solve it. When you press the test button the tray does not stop when it comes down. He keeps trying to turn around and makes a noise. Thanks
How to tell a new board from the old? I took the board out and compare old and new side by side and now do not remember which is new. They are identical.
I defrosted my ice maker with a blower dryer. Now I have to keep resetting ice maker for it to make ice. It does work one time after each reset. Suggestions? Please.
I replaced the auger assembly, thinking this was the problem. It was not. Through trial and error, I found out it is the ice flapper. I think this order of operation should be made more obvious. Press the ice lever, the flap motor turns until the two switches show the flap open. Then the auger starts. In my case, I removed the flap assembly, put the flap in the open assembly, and the auger worked. I tested the flap switches and motors, they are fine. So what I don't have is 120vac going to the flap motor when the ice lever is pushed. Do you know how to correct this issue? Thanks.
well i managed to melt the back and and now cant get the ice maker door back on. beyondddd frustrating. had problems since day one. as you mention numerous times 'it's not repairable' apparently which is infuriating. ayyyyy
Great video, I have model RF34H9960S4. do you know which service kit to use as I don't see it on your list? Also, do you how to do "force defrost"? thank you
There is no service kit for this model. Troubleshoot and order the parts individually. Try the bottom left and top right buttons to access force defrost mode.
Thank you for all you do. Do you have a video demonstrating how to replace the LED on the bottom of the flex drawer, that illuminates the the freezer of a Samsung RF31FMESBSR?
If your refrigerator is one of the models and date ranges that requires a service kit, you should order and replace the service kit. If yours is not one of those models or it is outside of that date range, you usually have to diagnose and replace parts individually.
Great video, I repaired an error 40 C on a RF28JBEDSR following the removal of the ice maker and the auger motor. The auger motor was very humid. I let it dry on the sun. Put everything back an the error disappeared. Thanks. One question, the cube function is not working, it appears that the auger motor does not lift. Can this motor be replaced? Thanks for your tutorial. Well done.
does turning off the icemaker prevent it from freezing the fridge side? will the freezer still freeze the meat area? i don't mind not having ice. we don't use it anyway
I did all of this except the control board. Great results for 2 months, now ice is frozen over again and same issues as before. Is replacing the control board the final step I need or did I damage the new parts I already replaced by not replacing the control board the first time?
When everything ices up, it can damage components. The control board in the kit is different than the original. If your model is within the date range, all parts in the ice maker service kit should be replaced and installed.
@@PartsDr I replaced everything and my new issue is it is acting like it will never stop making ice. So it eventually gets stuck because there is so much ice in the bucket.
I dont have a freezing problem Ice maker just takes Like 4 hours to make any ice whats that issue ...yes the filter is clean and I have water running thru the unit I really started doing this since last year
Great video. Explained everything except my final problem. I did replace the ice maker. The problem being that the ice would refreeze in the ice bucket/container and then would not dispense. I think I found the problem. In the auger motor assembly, the "U" shaped adapter that connects to the auger in the basket is very loose. It just spins. Looks like what ever holds it is broken. Perhaps a shear pin. The motor will run and the shaft turns, but it just spins and will not turn the auger in the basket. I know I could probably replace the auger motor assembly, but is there a less expensive way to replace the "shear pin"?
@@PartsDr Thanks. When I pull it out again, I'll have to take a look at it to determine if it can be repaired by a non-certified non-Samsung non-person.
Any reason why (after replacing everything including main board) everything works including the icemaker chute but the augur motor won't spin any more? Does the mainboard have a power conenctor to the augur motor?
I get no water to the ice tray. No ice build up. Already changes water inlet valve, but still no water. Does the actual ice maker send a signal to the water inlet valve to open and provide water? I'm wondering if I should change the ice maker now. My samsung has the icemaker on the freezer door. A little different than the model you have here
Great video. Noticed that the top of the auger motor assembly has a thin gasket. In my case when assembled a portion of the gasket which surrounds the opening above the fan was dislodged (rolled up into a thread) forming about a 1/2" gap in the seal. Should the gasket tape be replaced and if so with what? Looks like a very thin (maybe about 1/8" thick) adhesive backed foam tape material. What problems might this cause. Would really hate to have to replace the auger motor assembly for this.
I have a side by side Samsung the newer one and the water button is crossed with the ice maker so that when i press the water button it continuously let water into the ice maker and if i hit the ice button it shoots the correct amount of water into the water cup dispenser on the outside of the door, what needs to be fixed on it
We bought our Samsung refrigerator in Sept 2017. The ice maker was fine for the first year. But then it started this icing problem. Samsung came out and replaced the ice maker and heater in Feb 2019 under warranty. It wasn't any better. I'm very tempted to try this repair, but I wonder if I need the complete kit since it includes the ice maker which was replaced about 2 years ago. Advice?
Hey Parts Dr. First, thanks for the instructions... very easy to follow and I just completed my service kit on my Samsung fridge. Will ice start to drop on it's own after it comes down to temp or will I have to reset the ice maker via the right side button? thanks in advance.
Sorry, there is no kit available for this model. You can order these parts separately on our site partsdr.com DA97-15217D, DA97-19898A, DA82-02367A and DA94-02679J.
Our Samsung fridge "spits" ice without us pressing the dispenser & ice comes out so forcefully 1/2 the ice misses the glass, even if we use large mouth glasses & hold it per recommendations - it looks like there are collars available on other maker fridges to help with this - is there any kind of part for Samsung to help get ice in the glass? Thank You!
My freon loop is stuck in the down position. I have removed all ice and frost with a steamer but the loop won't budge up. Never had this issue before and I am afraid if I push up too much the loop will break. Why is it stuck if not ice or frost???
great instructional production, editing, and camera work. Your content did not cover just what the new service kit will do. Does the kit resolve the problem with this badly designed ice maker? That is not clearly explained at the beginning of your video. Replacing the same bad component will only result in failure and reoccurring freeze-up. This freeze-up failure is extremely common on this brand of refrigerator but no explanation if replacement parts are different and so is the fix for this poorly designed ice maker..
Thank so much very great video, I have Samsung smart fridge model FR28N9780SG/AA Rev 01, ice machine is working fine not frozen ice and it produces ice cubes, but when I click on Ice dispenser the dispenser light up but the motor is not moving and no Ice is coming out, what could be wrong? Cold water is working perfectly
Thanks - I was able to fix my flapper leak just by cleaning the calcium off the opening - now just hoping that was the sole cause of frost build up. There is small amount of water that will dribble out of the ice box itself when I do the water test. Should I still seal that or having fixed the sizeable leak in the flapper should that be enough? If I do want to do the sealant, can I empty and defrost the fridge top compartments without also emptying the freezer compartments? I don't know where I would put all that stuff...
Yes seal the ice maker box. The stuff in the freezer will stay about as cool as if you kept it in a cooler. It won't be cooling down while the refrigerator is off.
@@PartsDr Ok will do. So I need a couple hours to thaw out the ice compartment - there is still some ice stuck in the back nooks and crannies - then I need 24 hours to cure, so I'm assuming my food will be all good.
Decent video yet leaves out the most important part of trying to keep the refrigerator working properly which is cleaning the condenser and fan assembly and cleaning or replacing the three drain check valves. these valves will clog up as fast or faster than the water filter needs to be replaced allowing the water to back up into the refrigerator or ice maker section. because of my hard water every time I replace the water filter I also service these items. This video will give you hope that buying a few parts here and there will keep your expensive appliance working at a reasonable cost. I am here to tell you this is bogus for one reason. The ice maker is not in the freezer and will always cause you problems and become a maintenance nightmare. even keeping up with maintenance since 2015 I have had to replace the ice maker three times, all three check valves, The ice maker bucket because it split in half and the metal rod on the auger rusted allowing rust in the ice bucket. I have sealed the ice compartment, added the heater y clips kit, replaced the heated drain tube. now I have to replace the control board, the dispenser cover assembly and internal door parts for the ice dispenser. All in all the Samsung has been a good refrigerator other than just trying to get ice and water. I should have stuck with a simple side by side which is what I plan on doing. What a nightmare this has been, videos like this are great but do not be fooled they are here to just get your money for replacement parts eventually costing you more than what you paid for the appliance to start with.
All true. And one thing everyone leaves out.....No matter how much you seal the ice maker area, there is still a hole in the ice tray where the ice drops out into the door. Each and every time you open the left door, you are letting warmer air in the ice maker. This flaw, cannot be fixed.
It could be many different things. Bad ice maker, bad water valve (inside the filter case assemlby), bad main control board, blocked/frozen water line.
Is there any information after this video's publication date that shows that models after these production dates were also affected by the bad ice makers? We just purchased one made in May 2021 and Samsung claims there are no known issues with it.
Where did you find the list with model numbers? We have an RF23HSESBSR/AA manufactured in April 2015 (it's the model with sparkling water in the door - something that never worked from day one). It's not on your list. I've tried contacting the Samsung parts distributor twice now and no one can help. We recently replaced the icemaker for about the 4th time, but we want the extra kit parts if I can figure out what will fit. thanks.
I have a 2016 model and recently installed the Y Clip kit. Before that I was getting heavy ice build up around the old plastic cooling loop container every 2 weeks or so. Now, the ice build up occurs less often but I still need to get to the Y Clips every 6 weeks to defrost the ice build up around each clip. Once the ice is gone I get regular ice making. Do you think it can be the auger drain? Also, I checked for overall level of the fridge. It is tilted slightly towards the back (about half the bubble in the level); both from levelers are retracted and not touching the floor. I wonder if the water is draining to quickly along that cooling loop?
Where can one find the information for a Samsung RF28HMEDBSR with a June 2016 mfg date. I replaced the freezer in May of 2021 with a DA97-15217D and still have the same issue. How do I know if I need to change the PCB board.

how do i know which one of these to buy to fix it? My ice container was freezing up every few months and I would thaw...repeat. this last time it stopped working all together. How do we know what to replace???
Dude, from what I am getting from all the UA-cam videos, is there are no little fixes. It's the entire unit or let it rot. It's $300 for the total repair package for the ice maker. O.K., then what happens when the main compressor dies or the main motherboard dies. It's all B.S. Once mfg left the United States, it's all Chinese crap. From now on, I buy simple and use....................wait for it.......................... plastic ice trays. They cost .99 cents each and not $300.

Great to hear! Thanks for the feedback!
For the DYI UA-camrs that take the time to make a video like this. They get an A+ Thanks
Thank you so much for this comprehensive video. Like many people, i have struggle with Samsung ice maker for a long time. I have since replaced all the parts mentioned in this video, except for ice maker. Now the ice maker is working wonderfully for months now. Your solution really works for me. Thanks again!
Great to hear! Thanks for sharing!
Did you replace the control board too?
Wow, thank you for that video, very informative and the instructions were very clear.
Happ that we could help!
Absolutely the best educational dialogue for clear precise step by step instructions.
My compliments to the presenter.
Thank you!
This is great video to show us how to install and remove parts. We need to know how to test each of the parts to determine whether they need to be replaced. How else are we going to know what part to buy unless all parts are replaced one at a time.
Just wanted to say very good video, explains why they have so many defects in their products,
Very inexperienced company on making Appliances.
Nice job!
@@PartsDr He also did some silicone caulking. Sounds like it is an extremely common problem. He thought the motherboard replacement provides updated software to have a longer period of automatic defrost. Hope it works.
Dang he thanked you 6 consecutive times. That’s customer service! 😂
As I don't have much appliance repair experience, I'm so dissappointed my model doesn't have a kit! "Problem solve which parts to order" is beyond my skill scope. Not your fault, though! Thank you for the video.
How old is your fridge?
Heads up - while you have the ice auger motor out, check the operation of the small 12V fan that is mounted on top of it. Mine would start and stop, and sometimes not start at all, when supplied with 12V power. Ice was all frosty and clumping. I replaced the fan while doing the service kit and have great ice now. Fan really could have been all that I needed, but there are some design changes with the new ice maker and defrost tube and mother board so all in all I feel I'll be good now. Note did not mess with caulking the ice compartment. Could not even slip a small piece of paper between the joint and also it passed the flashlight test.
UPDATE: Two months and ice condition is great and no problems at all.
Excellent video luv the way you formatted video driving home basic key points!
Thank you!
Glad I watched this!
I won’t be buying a Samsung fridge!
Do you need to drain the water line going into the fridge or just close the water line ??
This was helpful. I installed the kit and was pretty straight forward following this video. Unfortunately the PCB board supplied does not work. Fridge only cooled 10 degrees and then started to increase. After 8 hours I put the original PCB back in. Everything is working. We will see if ice still builds up. Samsung confirmed I had correct kit but no help on replacement PCB. Anyone else with this issue?
Thank you. Most thorough and expert instructions I've been able to find.
Thanks! We are glad you found it helpful!
Well done ! I love the simple directions.
Thanks!
HI, I found out my blue waterline for the water keeps freezing. I also have problems where I need to manually defrost the fridge. Could this potentially solve both issues? Since the water line runs through a tunnel that also happens to be near the icemaker, I think this makes the most sense.
Your vids are great and really simple to understand
Glad to hear that!
How did you find all this out? I am a month in as a new service tech and I hate the fixes I've been trained about. This is so helpful. No one has told me about the ice dispenser seal or proper depth of fill tube in the back... How did you find all this information? Samsung ice rooms are terrible... see them so much
I've found using a steam jet (karcher) defrosts things quickly and reasonably softly.
Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic explanations. Talk to me like I'm 5.
Awesome video guys. Using the lots as a reference. Got an icemaker that won't fill up with water. Even if I push the test button. Is there a water level sensor in the ice bucket that I can check? How does the water valve to the ice bucket know when to open and close?
The water valve is controlled by the main control board. There is not a water level sensor for the ice maker.
I did everything as suggested but when pushing the auger motor in it stops about 2mm away from fully clicking in place . Any ideas? Is the new tube preventing it from going all the way?
So I purchased the service kit and changed the parts and board and plugged it back in. It made Ice three times, but that's it. any Ideas?
to assist in the defrost you can place a cup/mug of hot water in the ice maker compartment the steam coming from the hot water will help with a defrost
Thanks for the tip!
A well done instructional video. In the top 2 percent.
Thank you!
Excellent video. Thank you so much!!!
We are glad you found it helpful!
Hi Your video is excellent. I have another problem maybe you know how to solve it. When you press the test button the tray does not stop when it comes down. He keeps trying to turn around and makes a noise. Thanks
Do you know if this is still working?. I know this video is eight months old and was wondering if it was a permanent fix?
Hi, thank you for informative videos. Could you also please show how to check the BLDC compressor or 220 V compressor outside of the circuit.
You're a beast thank you my man!
How to tell a new board from the old? I took the board out and compare old and new side by side and now do not remember which is new. They are identical.
I defrosted my ice maker with a blower dryer. Now I have to keep resetting ice maker for it to make ice. It does work one time after each reset. Suggestions? Please.
Thank you ..best video and great instructions
You're welcome!
Thanks.
Best Best video and instructions by far !!!
Thank you! We are glad you found it helpful!
very good vedeo.thanks alot guy.
We are glad you found it helpful!
well i managed to melt the back and and now cant get the ice maker door back on. beyondddd frustrating. had problems since day one. as you mention numerous times 'it's not repairable' apparently which is infuriating.
Very best information
Thanks sir🙏
We are glad you found it helpful!
If replacing ice maker assembly and motor assembly, is it suggested to replace control board? Thanks for any help.
We don't think turning off the ice maker would prevent that.
Does this actually fix the problem? I have ice build up in the back of the fridge too
I am having this problem with RF23M8070. How do you put this model into Force Defrost? The button layout is different. Thanks for great video!
Most repair guys use steamers on these units to thaw them out. It's not always easy waiting for the unit thaw and not having a fridge
@@PartsDr crazy thing is when I empty the bin it no longer freezes up and works again. I ordered the control board from your site. Fingers crossed!
@@PartsDr I replaced everything and my new issue is it is acting like it will never stop making ice. So it eventually gets stuck because there is so much ice in the bucket.
@@RyeMoes Double check all of your connections. The ice full sensor is an IR sensor that is part of the auger motor assembly.
We haven't seen that pin available separately, it may only be offered by the manufacture as part of the auger motor assembly.
Try swapping your old main control board back into the refrigerator. That will rule out whether it is a control board problem.
I get no water to the ice tray. No ice build up. Already changes water inlet valve, but still no water. Does the actual ice maker send a signal to the water inlet valve to open and provide water? I'm wondering if I should change the ice maker now. My samsung has the icemaker on the freezer door. A little different than the model you have here
On most Samsung models, it is the main control board that sends the power signal to the water valve.
Are new 2020 Samsung refrigerator/ice makers still plagued by these issues?
Great video. Noticed that the top of the auger motor assembly has a thin gasket. In my case when assembled a portion of the gasket which surrounds the opening above the fan was dislodged (rolled up into a thread) forming about a 1/2" gap in the seal. Should the gasket tape be replaced and if so with what? Looks like a very thin (maybe about 1/8" thick) adhesive backed foam tape material. What problems might this cause. Would really hate to have to replace the auger motor assembly for this.
Great DIY video. Thank you
We are glad you found it helpful!
I have a side by side Samsung the newer one and the water button is crossed with the ice maker so that when i press the water button it continuously let water into the ice maker and if i hit the ice button it shoots the correct amount of water into the water cup dispenser on the outside of the door, what needs to be fixed on it
It hard to say without getting more of the back story. You might find this video helpful here: ua-cam.com/video/qUblOnomHHY/v-deo.html
Advice?
Call Samsung. They're sending someone to fix my 5 year old fridge for free.
Hi, could you give a tip on how to force defrost on a RT32FB... that has no control display?
Awesome work, thank you!
We are glad you found it helpful!
Awesome video. Thanks.
You're welcome!
Hey Parts Dr. First, thanks for the instructions... very easy to follow and I just completed my service kit on my Samsung fridge. Will ice start to drop on it's own after it comes down to temp or will I have to reset the ice maker via the right side button? thanks in advance.
Nevermind... Ice just dropped. thanks again.

I have RF28HDEDBSR/aa
, rec02 , manufactured oct 2014. Is a kit available and is replacing the circuit board needed for this unit? Great video!
Sorry, there is no kit available for this model. You can order these parts separately on our site partsdr.com DA97-15217D, DA97-19898A, DA82-02367A and DA94-02679J.
Do you sell that whole kit on your site? I cannot seem to locate it for my model
You don't say how to set the water line position for proper position.
Do you have the refrigerator unplugged while you are working on it?
great instructional production, editing, and camera work.
What indication(s) are there for a bad main circuit board? TIA
Ice auger assembly either frozen or needs replacement
Can the sealant be place on the outside of the ice maker, where youn had the flash light?
You can try it that way, but it seals better when done from the inside.
Out top ice maker is not filling with water? Is this a board problem? Bottom works fine
Not that we are aware of.
Where did you find the list with model numbers? We have an RF23HSESBSR/AA manufactured in April 2015 (it's the model with sparkling water in the door - something that never worked from day one). It's not on your list. I've tried contacting the Samsung parts distributor twice now and no one can help. We recently replaced the icemaker for about the 4th time, but we want the extra kit parts if I can figure out what will fit. thanks.
Sorry, there is not a kit available for your model number.
Ours freezes up, about every 2 weeks too. Did you ever get it fixed? And what did you do to fix it?
What’s this noise mean? Help!
Where can one find the information for a Samsung RF28HMEDBSR with a June 2016 mfg date. I replaced the freezer in May of 2021 with a DA97-15217D and still have the same issue. How do I know if I need to change the PCB board.
It looks like yours falls within the date range where yours uses this ice maker service kit here: partsdr.com/part/da82-02673a-ice-maker-service-kit
Ok. That’s what I thought but just wanted to check. Will be ordering. Appreciate the quick reply!
Just change out my first one today by myself the troublesome part for me was sliding the auger in and out
Nice job! That auger is a tight fit!
Radical - super useful
Great!!!
Does this actually work? Samsung has a class action law suite because of the icemakers freezing up.
Very good video💯👍
Thanks! 🙂
What's changed on the control board that makes it necessary to replace?
Rumor has it that they changed the software on the control board to change the time and frequency of the ice maker defrost cycles.
What happens if the coil breaks? I tried installing this and my coil broke . can I order a new coil do I have to get a brand new fridge?
Unfortunately, if the coil is broken it is not repairable and you will have to replace the refrigerator.
Just moved into home and have inherited this problem. I previously had an LG fridge and never had a problem with ice. This is very frustrating.
Can you tell me if this will work with Model RF263BEASR/AA (2013) as this is the one I now have. Also which part kit would I purchase. Thanks for this video.
They don't sell a service kit for your production date. But they do list these part numbers that you can order DA97-15217D, DA97-19898A, DA82-02367A, and DA92-00384B. Search these part numbers on our website partsdr.com

Awesome! Great to hear!
My Samsung Fridge ( Side by side) RF4287HABPXAA makes ice but it does not dispense ice, I don't hear the motor, it's just silence. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
To diagnose the problem, you would need to check the dispenser button/switch and check the power supply to the ice auger motor.
@@PartsDr Any videos on how to replace the switch and parts # or link?
how do i know which one of these to buy to fix it?
