Yep we paid $230 for Ego LB6500 with 56volt CH2100 battery - piece of JUNK. Apparently there is a known problem with the battery. It does come with a warranty and you have to call and go through about a 30 minute to 1 hour wait to speak with someone. (yes I tried leaving my name & number for a callback but they never called back - I waited until the next working day to call back). Then you have to go through the whole troubleshooting process. I did the 45 minute phone wait then asked if we could skip the troubleshooting because I didn't have time (I do have to work!) and the condescending person said no basically. So I guess I'll have to take some vacation time to call. SIGH. I told him tell management if they have a known problem just send a replacement for goodness sake. So tired of these huge companies jerking customers around. SO SICK OF IT. Rant over. Thank you for letting me vent LOL. EGO I HOPE YOU READ THESE COMMENTS.
I agree in general. Half the time I'm talking with someone in customer 'service'; I know more about the tool than the young college graduate girl I'm speaking with. When I had a problem with MY 7.5; I got hold of the 'right' person. I talked with HIM for about 15 minutes; and he sent me a new battery! It's not just EGO. I have had similar problems/arguments with Greenworks too. Battery says fully charged; but won't run the saw. I call the next day for a replacement; and they ask me to test it while I'm on the phone with them. I put the defective battery in my saw; and it WORKS! That makes it very difficult to prove my complaint. Anyway; they ended up sending me a new one. As wonderful as the tools are; I just wish they had service to match.
the wire inside from teh controller is pinched. It happens sometimes with how they are made at the factory. You can open it up and make sure all the wires are not bent and that will fix the problem.
I guess I just must be lucky. My lawnmower is three years old and works great. The 7.5 developed a fault; to where it would only cut the FRONT yard; instead of the whole yard. The battery hasn't gotten any worse since the initial fault after the first year. Anyway; EGO replaced the battery for me.
Mine was nearly 5, but after 2 weeks of using it to plow through blackberry vines and insanely high grass (36+ inches) the battery and motor appear to have sh-- the bed simultaneously. I ordered commercial grade greenworks mower, waiting on its arrival.
Yup, same here. I have all types of ego tools. The batteries suck. I came here looking for an answer to your question. I guess I gotta call ego or buy a new battery. That sucks
I kept buying it I decided not to so yea I have like three small battery and four large battery. I have two red flashing red small and large what the issue both of them. Lastly two large battery light is not on idk what going on.
Unfortunately EGO batteries have gone downhill - I've had many with dead spots. Unacceptable really as they charge a premium price for them. Luckily they replace them under warranty but pain in the arse having to fill in claim forms. When you need them for work you need them - you don't need to be waiting for the shop to tell you want you already know - that they're stuffed!
I have many ego products, and they are a joke. When they were great it’s awesome when they don’t you’re screwed. I didn’t know about registering online when I bought my $1200 snowblower with two 7.5 batteries. Both batteries started to die two years later. They work for about 5 to 10 minutes and then flash red and won’t work again for about 40 minute. When I contacted ego, they said I was more or less out of luck, because I didn’t register it immediately after purchase. What a waste.
I have two (7.5Ah) batteries that both do this. The first one did this after a few months, the second was the the replacement they sent me and it did it straight out of the box!
You probably figured out whether it’s bad or not but if you Google it, it says to hold down the fuel gauge for 2 to 3 seconds then press the button again and wait for two minutes for the battery to reset. It worked for me.
My 7.5 EGO battery 🔋 started doing tge same thing wont charge won't work . I put it back in the mower and try to reset it and suddenly it show 2 green light. I put it back in the charger and it started charging. Thank god .
I love the tools but hate the batteries. I've been buying Makita because of this. Their batteries are cheaper + easier to replace the cells and the management systems inside the batteries if you're not afraid to solder.
I came here looking for a review of this battery, because Ohio Power Tools is having a sale on these for 169 dollars. I am now uncertain about them after reading these comments.
ego lost me after 2 yr their battery no longer charge or work just red light of death…. buyin battery seems to cost more than buyin gas now…. for 2 yr wtf
It tends to happen after storing the battery fully charged or leaving it on the charger for long durations. Battery is still likely good. My recommendation is to store half charged and charge fully before use and do not charge back up. I had this problem and no longer do with the same battery. Hope that helps
I'd recommend you read the instructions which clearly says to leave the battery on the charger for an extended period time because it Will automatically drop down into storage mode and discharge the battery to a safe storage level. That said, you're normally right but not with these batteries you're not.
It means the hope you have the original purchase receipt or $180 to purchase a replacement battery. I finally got a call back from them yesterday and we went through their various checklist tests and yep the battery is bad but yet the battery says full charge. I think it has more to do with the circuitry on the boards in the actual blower than the battery
Mine was flashing red, charger showing green light like yours. Inoperable in tool. Measured 46volts. I held button down 6 to 7 sec, then slid into charger while holding button flashing red. I waited a minute, pulled it out of charger, back into blower, blower started up but died after a few seconds. Put it back in charger, it started charging, completed charge. Now measures ok at 58volts.
Same for me. 20 minutes of mowing and battery overheats. Yellow light flashes and mower shuts down. Wait a few minutes to restart and get another 10 minutes of mowing. AArrgghhhh
I got this exact same thing. I saw another video where it could be a sensor on the lawn mower. They suggested unscrewing and screwing yhe blades. And idk if I just got lucky or something but I did the blade thing and the battery started acting normal again. All this happened today lol so it's probably a sensor in the lawnmower itself causing the battery to act this way. Mine was blinking red like this as well. I also cleaned the dry grass underneath because i noticed that i had a lot of it and when the trigger happened a lot of dead dry grass came flying off right before it started acting up. And then it's wouldn't start at all. Unscrewing and screwing the blades back fixed it for me or I just got lucky
Mine did same thing so i put volt meter to it to check volt s and it started working so i ran it in my chainsaw for about 2 minutes and put back on charger and now its fin
Lowes refused to take mine back, even though it had been only 2 weeks since I bought it, still under the one month Lowes requires for returns. I had my original receipt in hand, but they came up with the excuse that I didn't have the box. Who the heck keeps the box? So I called eGo, and long story short, they refuse to take it back. Their solution is to throw new batteries in, I'm on the fourth one already. That's why I'm here, trying to find a way to restore the "bad" batteries. No. I'd not recommend this piece of crap.
@marcalexander5594 ive added A video in the comments on how to fox it a separate person made a video. It's basically a blown fuze internally. If you know how to soder it's an easy fix!
Its called get a new battery. Its a lithium ion battery they dont last long if you dont maintain a consistent charge... Meaning if you have ran it down to dead multiple time it has had its life cut in half every time.
If you have left it out in the cold that could have done it. Plus some lithium ion are just defective and dont last long. But its a catch 22 lipos are notorious for dieing if you use them 24/7... It blinking red and blue might be the battery telling you on of the cells might be damaged.
I always store inside and i dont use them heavily. I already got a new one sent i just want to know if this one is fixable for an extra spare lol. These batteries will also drain themselves after 6 months of non use to save the lithium batteries. I think it shorted out for some reason and tripped a sensor or messed up the connections or something.
@@__J-Fish__ you cant really fix lipos and i wouldn't try yourself. Unless you know someone who works with lithium ions. But they probably wouldn't want anything to do with it if it is shorted. If it didn't give that blue and red signal to you it could have been a very poor brand and kept "working" and it could have bloated and blew up. So you are Lucky the battery caught itself if it actually shorted and threw its signals.
Yeah i dont know much about them so thats why i posted hoping someone has seen this code before. I tried looking up a bunch of videos and i still can not find what quick flashing green and red means. Usually people just see flashing red when they go to charge or whatever. But the tools and charger dont even recognize that this battery is plugged in. Thats why I thought it may just be a bad connection because when it sparked it left black marks on the connections but its so tight i cant really get in there to clean them up.

yes. easy replacement process if you register it online immediately upon purchase.

My Ego battery would not charge a year after having the mower. Called the warranty department. They mailed a new battery.
Hold the button down for 6 seconds and install in charger while you are still holding button down then release. That fixed mine
Oh wow that worked for me so far, thank you though
I did it ! It worked! Thanks!
I did it ! It worked! Thanks!
I did and it didn't work
Wow.. Thanks. That worked . Battery actually started charging again.
I was seriously considering going back to a gas mower again. Lol
We use these every day we blow out around 100 shipping containers a day I have noticed our batteries draining a lot faster during cold and hot seasons
My 7.5 EGO battery 🔋 started doing tge same thing wont charge won't work . I put it back in the mower and try to reset it and suddenly it show 2 green light. I put it back in the charger and it started charging. Thank god .
Update!! I fixed this battery!!! This is the video I used to fix it!

I like Makita's bettery. Cheaper batteries, easier to service, repack the cells later on in life.

More likely the circuitry in the battery.
I got a brand new one and trying figure out how to charge with the power ego inverter..it won't charge past 2nd green light
It is happening to me right now. I have no idea what to do about it! Fortunately I have a 2nd one so I can blowout all these leaves for the 4th!

Mine flashes red and green
Sounds like battery voodoo
Same bullshit here. Went to ACE and this battery was $250.00. Yeah you read that right. F this battery shit
Bought an Ego lawnmower last year and it can barely cut my lawn without overheating the battery. Decided to go back to gas

Put your battery in the freezer for 10 mins. Let it cool down. I have the same issue. Part B, change the inner battery source. 😊
It didnt get hot it just did it that day for no reason.
May have a blown fuse, saw it on a UA-cam video today
Is it fixable?
Yes! I hate it and I do t know ow what to do…😢
Run out my second battery, these are truly BS products going back to gas so I don't have to deal with their headache.
It's a reset
Mine just died in 2 years.!
So why are you holding the button for 5 seconds to begin with?
Bc it wouldn't work in any tool or charger but said full charge. It was the internal fuze and I fixed it recently!
