Aw...Angels Landing was an amazing hike, I'm sorry you didn't get to summit it. I did it with my son in late August 2017, no big crowds. There were people, but nothing like the line in your video.
The Zion 'signature" hikes, other than Angels Landing, are all closed at this time; Observation Point and Hidden Canyon (rockslide), and The Narrows (high water) have made Angels Landing even more congested than normal. Things should normalize once these hiking opportunities are available again, but the summer season brings a lot more people to Zion so either way Angels Landing will remain crowded. Monday-Wednesday, early in the morning or late afternoon are the best times for Angels Landing hike.
Ah...that could explain things. The park itself wasn't bad at all. That's why I was so surprised. No lines for shuttles, we parked inside the park no problem, etc.
im not sorry to say it, but the foreigners are the worst, no trail etiquette , they don't say please, thank you, or excuse me. or at least try too. believe it, the ohioans pennsylvanians and the midwestern people are the best. they were kind, friendly and polite . ill go back, but you have to get there early.
That line of people was horrendous (not to mention dangerous)! I love that hike but would not have put up with that either. They should really permit that hike.
Really nice video. I agree with all the comments about the music choice and how it's incorporated. A great score for a great movie. Keep on having fun.
Thanks for the video! Good call on not going out to the peak of Angel's Landing when it is so crowded. Not only is it not so much fun, but it can be more dangerous with so many people. I strongly recommend hiking Angel's Landing as early as possible in the day to beat the crowds, even if that means hitting the trail at the crack of dawn. The lighting on the red rock is far more impressive at sunrise and most people are too lazy to get a truly early start.
We should have definitely gotten an earlier start. It was dangerous with that crowd. We saw a guy slip a bit and he tried to grab onto a girl standing near him. That was enough for me to say "no way".
Isn't it terrible that these areas, supposedly preserved so people can enjoy them, are now beset by so many people enjoying them? What to do, what to do...
I hate to do this to you but I have one more personal question how old are you??? I thought you were young girl about 25 my daughter look at you then tells me she doesn't think I'm right for the sake of a fight between father and daughter would you let me know
Beautiful. I was just there two weekends ago. Thanks for posting stuff from angel's landing. It's the only trail I didn't go on because of some rain coming in later the day I planned to hike it.
Zion is so absolutely beautiful! Wow, the line to get to the top of Angels Landing looked like a line at a theme park. The Virgin River was pretty high and rushing. In the summer, I love to camp right on the river and play, swim and go tubing when the river is low and clear. I hope to hike The Narrows in full someday. The fraction of it we did hike was breathtaking!
Hi Catherine, It's cool that so many people are not doing something else... I like that, but...I am not fond of crowds. It is not personal, I have crowd issues. I am glad so many people like the same natural wonders, that is great, I am just not wired for big crowds. You have a graceful way of changing course. I like that about you. Good job. Smiling, George.
Came across you through MyOwnFrontier, love these places as we have nothing like this in England. No surprise re all the people though I prefer no people at al!
Looks awfully crowded in places Catherine, not your normal speed. Like your solution. It is like Disneyland on a regular day. Zion is terribly crowded at the wrong time of year.

It is amazing how quickly the crowds have increased at the park. Just ten years ago you could have the park to yourself for most of the year. Now days there is no down season as the park is still crowded in the winter. However, it is understandable as it is soo beautiful. Fortunately there are still many unknown locations throughout the southwest and mountain west where you can get absolute solitude. Unfortunately Utah's national parks are becoming WAY too crowded.
Epic video ... thank you for taking us along. Your editing skills are over the top. Loved your music selection ... very nice and peaceful! Happy Birthday, Julie!
The funny thing is getting around the park and parking etc. wasn't bad at all. I think it just bottle necked at Angel's Landing. We should have gone much earlier. It was actually a good time to visit. I'd say before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. If you plan on hiking Angel's Landing go early and you will probably be fine.
