I hope you enjoyed this adventure! It means so much to me that you spent the time watching it. If you enjoyed this, please consider subscribing. I strive to bring relatively unknown, odd, unique, and special places to you each week from the American Southwest.
---------------
👍How to be a respectful visitor to these places👍
Native American groups still live in this area and beyond today. These places are still special and hold significance.
1️⃣Don't climb on walls or structures. Don't lean on or climb over them. Many places don't even need to be visited up close. View these places from a distance or with binoculars.
2️⃣Do not touch the rock art. Don't touch or create new rock art to preserve ancient stories.
3️⃣ Leave All Artifacts. Leave artifacts and structures undisturbed to maintain their historical significance. It is illegal and wrong to take artifacts. If you want something to take home, support local tribes by buying their handicrafts and jewelry.
4️⃣ Manage Waste Responsibly. Use waste bags; don't leave human or pet waste behind. Don't 'go' near cultural sites.
5️⃣ Camp With Care. Don't camp near historical sites. No fires near these areas, and ensure all waste is packed out. Don't make fires in caves or alcoves. Camp in designated spots only. When you leave, make sure to make the site cleaner and better than when you found it. Pick up extra trash you may see.
6️⃣ Control Your Pets. Don't let pets roam freely near archaeological areas to prevent destruction. Pets are not allowed in or near sites.
7️⃣ Preserve Fragile Areas. Don't disturb fossils and please protect delicate soil and plant life.
8️⃣ Follow Rules. Don't engage in illegal actions such as building cairns, or using climbing gear to access archaeological sites.
9️⃣ Obey Drone Rules and Laws. Numerous locations in the American Southwest and beyond, such as the Navajo Reservation, Wilderness Study Areas, and various restricted spaces, enforce strict drone usage prohibitions. It is crucial to not only honor the legacy of the people who once inhabited these areas but also show respect for the present-day residents and adhere to their local laws, customs and regulations.
---------------
NOTE: I don't claim that I am the first person to "discover" these places. I just find things on Google Earth and want to go see what they are!
I do not claim to be an expert on anthropology, geology, or archaeology. I say that my channel is about "amateur archaeology". I don't have a degree or formal training in archaeology. I am just a hiker who loves to explore and see new things especially the ancient history in the American Southwest. This is what my channel is about. I hope you stick around and explore with me!
I do not give out locations to the places in my videos. I take seriously the responsibility to protect and respect these ancient places. If you do find/visit one of these locations, please visit respectfully. I try my best to hide noticeable landmarks, mountains, and canyons in my videos.

It's not about the destination, it's about the journey. That was a beautiful trek. Thank you.
Thank you for coming along!!
@@TheTrekPlanner I just saw a pop-up for a search engine other than Google.
The ad starts with a green screen of a dessert mesa and this guy that could play *YOU* in a movie of the week, I'm thinking more National Treasure than 100+ Hours.
So it's confirmed, you are an inspiration.🤣🤣🤣
Just wanted to let you know that I will never abandon your channel to the POV guy and the poetry walker dude. You are the true Google search and find OG...your number 1 fan for life son! #keeptreking
I watch them all. I'm too curious...
@@SimonSozzi7258I don't ... after watching a couple of the others, they were just not as authentic as Jeff seems to be so I'm sticking with The Trek Planner.
@@fergalohearga9594I watched a video of POV guy and it did feel a bit too scripted.
But... do check out Desert Drifter!!
It's a party, not a competition.

Zion is awe inspiring. My dad and I used to go up to the ZNP and do the hikes in the area. Everyone should visit at least once in your life.
Your trip videos have become a fabulous combination of landscape and history. As an Aussie, I am loving travelling in your country without having to actually go there. Thanks.
It means a lot that you spent your time watching! I love doing this and it makes me happy to share even just a few of these places with you all :-)
completely agree with Pippa, its great. thanks Jeff@@TheTrekPlanner
Welcome to our country! 🇺🇸 & 🇦🇺🫡 🫂
thanks - never heard of a passive repeater before. lovely scenery.
I think this one was really cool. This brings back history!
I grew up in Oregon & in the early 1960s, it was this style of system that beamed the only available TV channel into our rural community in the western Cascades.
I'd classify this as a treasure.
You think that it was beaming TV signals?
I used to live in Hurricane, Utah. The video brought back some memories, my parents would take us all up to Zion quite often for picnics and camping.
It was the last place I visited with my dad before he passed. Great memories❤
Matts Off Road Recovery
Did your family enjoy the La Verkin hot springs? I realize they’ve been closed for years but used to visit back in the 70s.
Beautiful landscape and mountains. I can’t imagine being rich enough to actually own that amount of pristine land.
The very second I saw a clear aerial photo of that thing I knew it was a microwave reflector without even having watched the video...I did watch, though. Nice job as always.
Same, but not going to watch. I have seen these around other mountains in the Sierra's.
I thought it was a soccer goal lmao
You're correct !
Another Beautiful Area - wow - the River is Fantastic ! Ah - it was a 1994 Repeater - very Interesting indeed ! You had a good look at old Shunesburg from up there - nice one - what a Place ! The Hike was Brilliant - thank You and many Cheers from Australia !!!!
How beautiful! Thanks for making the hike and taking us along.
I like how you fill us in on what you see. It’s always interesting, even the passive repeater that works without electricity.
Getting my popcorn and favorite drink!
Nice comment 🙂
Woot! 🥰
Its only 9 minutes, hurry lol
@ 5:40 i drove shuttle jeeps to a wedding party at that property. The owner was a cool guy.
Who’s the owner?
@@corneliusdinkmeyer2190 I'd rather not say. It's not my place
I was on a movie shoot out there last year
Great hike. Beautiful area. And I learned about Shunesburg and passive repeaters. ❤
Good job brother! I didn’t realize shunesburg has a large reservoir next to it. That’s def an area I’d love to explore and walk the bottom of those cliffs.
That is the weirdest find. So does this mean there are more? You really find cool stuff. Thanks for taking the time g us along.
I really haven’t seen too many of these! The only other one I can think of is in Salt Lake City. Thanks for watching, Patricia!
lol! Loved the Trek Planner ad on the “billboard”. 😂
😂😂 Gotta inject some humor in my videos
Stunning views Jeff, I would have never seen without you. Thank You Jeff, confidentially i just got back from my second 6 mile hike in the last two days. Your video was perfectly timed to allow me time to relax and enjoy the view, OH YA.
Zion looks amazing.
It was a very beautiful hike 😊👍
I always enjoy hiking with you. I don`t get to enjoy the bugs like you do, but I will still hike along as long as the video allows it. :) Love the scenery!
Going to ba another good one! Awesome!!!
Nice comment 🙂
When there's lots of flowers, like on the sage, there are going to be bees buzzing busily. They won't sting you as long as you keep a calm demeanor and don't emit fear. Same for wasps. If you don't surprise them, they will leave you alone.
Love your treks thanks for letting us see too
A ten minute adventure, perfect, thanks!
Oh what a blue sky.❤
Right?? Such a perfect day
It’s so beautiful! I’m an amateur radio operator, so my first guess was that it was a repeater. 😊
That was a unique adventure with gorgeous landscape. Never heard of passive repeater, especially out in the middle of nowhere. Who knew. lol
So good to be back with you 😊 What beautiful landscape. So interesting. Thanks again 😊😊😊
I always thought those were screens for hike-in theaters.😂 Thanks for taking us up close to one, Jeff
😂😂 I would climb up again there if I could watch a movie on it!
Beautiful hike brother, Beautiful views.. thanks for sharing!😅
Thank you, Sean!
I liked learning about the passive repeater.
It must smell wonderful, All he bees!
What a beautiful day & a good walk!!❤😊 Thank you for taking all of us along!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for all your hard prep work and then taking us along. That was fun. Have always wanted to visit Zion.
Wonderful trek! Thank you for taking us there! Made my day!😊
Thank you for watching! :-)
😀👍🙏>>>💚~~~ THANK YOU BEAUTIFUL OUT THERE
Beautiful scenery. My mother's back yard was Zions national park.
Banner views! Great exploration! Appreciate the knowledge👍
Nice hike with beautiful views. Thanks for posting!
Cool. I like stuff we can see with you on Google Earth. In Ogden, there are some ruins of kilns, right in town. We can see one clearly, but the other 2 are right there too, but hidden. One is part of the sidewalk at the beginning of the street, but we can only see part of it. The other is in the same area, but a little higher from the marked kiln. Any of the old charcoal kilns sites are cool to look at. "The Kiln" in Utah is pretty cool too. On Google Earth, it looks like there are possibly more kilns or ancient structures, near it, but we know how different things can look in person. I'm pretty good at picking out ruins though. Get an eye for it after a while. You have one of the best eyes I've seen for ancient ruins. Thanks for taking us along.
Wow that was gorgeous senery , I wud love to live out there and have me a ranch ❤ thank u for sharing !!
As a matter of fact, it does look like fun!
Thanks for sharing!
Jeff, Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Never been to Zion, but it’s on my bucket list. Along with all of Southern Utah.
I believe that thing is a microwave reflector, used for bouncing signals around things.
Really
You are correct
So interesting! Beautiful views as well.
I love Zion NP, so was immediately interested. That was a beautiful hike. What was the body of water that looked like it was on the billionaire's land I wonder?
This was an interesting hike and you gave us a lot of interesting info, Thank you. Gramma Candy
Thanks for watching, Grandma Candy!
I’ve hiked in Zion N.P. many times but your trek was new to me. Such interesting history, too, about the ghost town. Wish I was there today to go on my own trek. I’m recovering from a fractured hip but who cares because a hike would beat that stationary bike that I hate! 🤬 Thanks for the great vlog. 😊
Loved this!! Enjoyed it thoroughly!
YES!!! I saw this from the road and was taking pictures zoomed way in. I thought the brown splotch was a horse!
Alone the last place I visited with my late Dear Ole Dad TY for the memories!
That was a very interesting area to see and thank you for showing it to us! That repeater thing was unexpected but it also didn't surprise me to see some modern day tech stuff. The ruins of native american habitats are way better!! That is a very pretty and unique area and the rock formations were quite amazing!❤
It must be good to be that rich.
Who wouldn't want to own THAT.
It's GORGEOUS!
Bruh, you are killing me! I've hiked all over that area, and well before so much was off-limits. I miss So. Utah so much it isn't funny, and thanks for letting me live vicariously through you good sir! I get back every year or so, but can't do the hikes that I once could - glad you are doing this while you can, and it will lead to some fantastic memories!
Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you!
Thanks. So much information and great scenery.
Spectacular and awesome colors!!! Thanks 👍...
Gorgeous hike, thanks for the share, sir!
Thank you so much for your treks. I'm far past such adventures in person and really enjoy coming along with you so much!
That was a very cool & beautiful hike!! Thanks again for taking us along!
Your broom plants grow like ours, and we're on Vancouver Island, and the bloom doesn't happen for another couple months!
That was a movie screen lol
Beautiful trek. Thank you for sharing.
Passive Repeater, I find this very interesting. Reflects back and fills in to cover below and left to right.
Cool video ! I love hiking ! Thanks for sharing that ! 👍
Billboard, in the middle of nowhere! Lol 😂 Nice one!
oh dear.
'went to go'
have fun
do good
be safe
and thanks for sharing
Beautiful!!! Haven’t been to Zions in years!
As a rock nerd, I'd love to see more close ups of interesting rocks... like what were they digging up in those pits? In another of your vids you found some interesting crystals. There are some interesting rocks, crystals, agate, jasper, fossils (ie dinosaur bone), petrified wood, and gold, in the SW... keep your eyes peeled and show us if you find something! Love the journeys even without cool rocks but thought I'd mention on behalf of my fellow rock nerds ☺
That's an amazing scenery! Thank you!
What a great hike through beautiful terrain! Thanks for taking us along!
Beautiful hike!
That was a lot of work. Great views though brother. Thanks again!
Beautiful views.
What a beautiful view. I went hiking yesterday and I saw a massive fat tick lol. I'm going to take a break from hiking until those nasty goes away lol.
They never go away. You just get used to them.
Thanks for the video. I moved to the St George area a few years ago and have always wondered what those "billboards" were. Now I know more than what I knew before I watched the video.
Hello from Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
Good job! Great video!
What a beautiful place ! ..and as always I learned something new thanks to you.
Love Zion Park. I've done the Angel's landing a few times. Really cool hike, view and vibes. Thanks for showcasing Zion Park this time.
Yes! Angel's Landing is one of my favorites. I remember doing the chain section once in a thunderstorm, back when I was young and dumb. Good times!
Thanks Jeff. What an incredibly beautiful place. Always wanted to visit and now I have❤️
Great scenery, always look forward to your hikes. Stay safe Jeff
Beautiful scenery, interesting history. Thank you! 😊
I've been close to there before, but so long ago. Great vid. Brings back a lot of travel memories.
Thank you very interesting trek.
I did enjoy this adventure!
You just never know what you will find!
Thanks, as usual, for bringing us along!
Stay safe and happy!
I love watching your videos. It makes me feel like I’m there. I get to see beautiful places I’ve never been and have an adventure vicariously 😊
Dude, you always pull me in and you never disappoint. Cheers!
The sounds of the river are wonderful! It brings back so many good memories!❤
Wow! I have never heard about that thing! Interesting! Thanks
beautiful scenery
Amazingly beautiful area. Thank you for this interesting adventure.
I really enjoyed this adventure... exploring the area and the history lesson.
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful scenery and great history lesson. Your videos are my favorites to watch above all the videos on UA-cam.
That was a wild trek, so very remote (it seems to me 😄) It is so interesting because it would be something I would never see. Thank you for taking us along!
The views were absolutely spectacular! Love it!👏👏👏
Enjoyed the hike and the history lesson!
That’s fascinating! I’ve never even heard of a passive repeater before! Now I’ve learned something new! 👍🏼
