Can you talk about resolutions and framerates when you make direct comparisons? Some game get extra assets when using higher internal resolution, which is interesting to see. Frame Generation on PC gives you a huge framerate boost too, even with hardware that performs similar to that on the PS5. It is something that some people may like to hear.
I usually discuss this towards the end as I want to avoid going into detail on things like resolution and framerates, areas that are already explored in great depth by the good folks over at DF

its because nixxes ported this, they did both spiderman ports alongside ratchet and clank, best ports ever imo. im so happy they doing ghost of tsushima in may, what a relief after all the bad ports we had last 4 5 years
I've just noticed your comparison with the PS5 version when it comes to the particles and especially waterfalls. I think it's to do with you disabling motion blur, it's the per-object motion blur that creates that illusion in the waterfalls and other effects. They don't really look any better on the PS5 they're just blurrier in motion which suggests lack of per-object motion blur on the PC. Perhaps you can have another look.
That section was initially longer in this video and i cut it short, because i disabled motion blur in BOTH versions of the game. The per object motion blur shouldnt be required to see a waterfall rendered properly. Most PC players on higher framerates want to disable motion blur effects because the higher framerates negate the need for such an effect. I initially wrote/recorded that this lower quality waterfall isnt necessarily a problem with the port, but rather the downside of switching to a higher framerate to render effects intended for 30fps w/ motion blur effects. I will say though that even when enabling the blur effects (because i had the same thought when i first saw this), the waterfall STILL doesnt look as good for some reason. Because of that, i reduced the length of that section of the video and simplified it.
@@Nick930 Fair enough and I agree with you. Like I said before to my eye they don't particularly look any better per se on the PS5 (like the number of particles and or meshes look to be the same or of similar quantity in between the versions) just that the PS5 has that stop-motion blur effect applied. So perhaps it's an upscaling thing or the PC version is lacking per-object motion blur all together.

Im ngl. Love these games, but Aloy's quips like "Going down!" or the ones she says whenever you run out of inventory space. Wish there was a setting for that.
a really very good port for PC, probably no one will notice any major differences during gameplay, the noticeable difference will definitely be in the number of frames, probably adding the ray tracing option would give a greater advantage in the overall appearance in favor of the PC. Most likely, the modding community will correct some imperfections for the developers :)

I think overall it's an excellent port. When I see the models up close it honestly looks like there is some texture sharpening issues on the PC. As in lack of. The details are there but just not as pronounced. I used nVidia filters to adjust sharpening and clarity which seemed to make a huge difference. I like your comparisons.
btw i noticed some of the issues you present with the pc version like the hair seems to be a bug with LODs, it looks kinda like when you set the negative LOD setting in NVCP for witcher 3 to clamp instead of allow, (makes textures and certain meshes really low quality) from what i have also seen in some comparisons, dlss does not seem to have this issue while native and DLAA do "i could be wrong on that" but its defo showing the signs that the negative LOD value or just LODs in general are bugged.
hello mate ! great comparison like always , hope to see PC version gets some fixes for the Graphic issues :( should not be like this for a PC game , one question tho can you please tell me what software and with what settings do you use to Record gameplays ? they look SO detailed and clean , what bitrate etc
2:45 the dude in this image looks very realistic both on pc and ps5 i think what we see is the result of over optimization from pc that has to sacrifice a lot of detail for older GPUS.
it seems like the ps5 version of the game had some type of object motion blur for the water falls wich the pc version lacks so the pc version looks more grainy. i could be wrong but thats definitely how it seems.
@@MLWJ1993 i would have initially thought the ghosting dlss usually causes in many instances would help the waterfall but here it seems to actively work against it

I don’t know if you are a fan of this series but I think you should try out the JRPG series Persona from Atlus, not just a documentary but also for other content you make in general including direct comparisons, one I think you should try is a direct the original version of Persona 3 from 2006 & Persona 3 Reload. So, I would like to ask if you would have a go with Persona content on your channel?

I own both the PS5 and PC versions of the game. On my pc a medium rig - 5600x cpu, 3070 gpu and 32 gb ram - I used the dfs fsr mod to get higher frames rates and I got it. However the game suddenly does huge framedrops mostly in cities and some other areas (1440p/high settings). Its amazing how well optimized and good looking the PS5 version is.
5600x + 3080 here, I had huge fps drops in cities and cutscenes for no apparent reason (when camera was facing certain direction only), issue was fixed for my by latest nvidia drivers
I don’t get why some people here argue about image quality on PC. This is a port not a game design with PC and PS5 in mind. IQ is clearly better on PC as is frame rate but that’s it. As it should be for a port of a game that is couple of years old.

The game looks blurry if played on a good monitor or TV and overall the PC versión even on low or medium graphic quality is way better looking than the PS5 version
I think DLAA was to blame for the lack of some detail on the character model, I would love to see if using DLSS gives you a better result. In some games DLSS looks superior to a native image with other AA applied.
I was very excited when they finally made it available on PC. With all the beautiful textures of the game at the highest settings, I am now able to run it at 60fps only 😭😭😭

Games do not get extra assets on resolution increases, you are simply able to make them out more clearly lol
nah some games literally have higher quality textures while on 4k and give 1440p same textures as 1080p.
@@resColts no they do not its just the fact you need 4k in order to make visible use of the high res textures. They are still there at lower res but cant notice it as well
@user-rt4ct6tq3r games with 4k textures as downloadable file exist you can go educate yourself on the difference
Honestly, the 40fps version on console serves me REALLY well, is is one of the only games I didn’t feel jealous of not having a high end pc
Guerrilla is amazaing!
Same honestly
main difference between both versions is the resolution and the FPS, but in terms of graphics fidelity (textures, shadows, LoD, etc) are practically near the same even on maxed settings on PC
Which fps is greater?
13:49 "the game runs beautifully on my machine". you mean the highest end machine there is, lol. :)
Yup. And it runs beautifully!
To be fair this game is well optimized and you dont need the most powerful pc to make it run well.
Tbf that does not remotely guarantee great performance these days. Ask him how great Dragons Dogma 2 runs....
well the game runs fine with my RTX 3060 at 1440p and as u can see if u wanna run the PS5 version at 4k max settings u must play it at 30 fps and i can run it at a4k also with my card tho thats cause we got DLSS
Akshually you dont have the highest end rig. Where is your 14900k?@@Nick930
This is one of the best PC ports I've played. Only encountered a single bug throughout the whole playthrough.
The quest log is bugged. Everytime I select a quest category, it remains yellow, as if it were selected.
its because nixxes ported this, they did both spiderman ports alongside ratchet and clank, best ports ever imo. im so happy they doing ghost of tsushima in may, what a relief after all the bad ports we had last 4 5 years
You beat it already?? Did you take time off work lol.
You need to disable the frame generation, cripples the image@@Nick930
@@Nick930 Fair enough and I agree with you. Like I said before to my eye they don't particularly look any better per se on the PS5 (like the number of particles and or meshes look to be the same or of similar quantity in between the versions) just that the PS5 has that stop-motion blur effect applied.
So perhaps it's an upscaling thing or the PC version is lacking per-object motion blur all together.
Why did you turn on the frame gen? Doesn't make sense in a visual comparison.
Frame gen Literally doesn't show any artfact in the game, and he only have framegen in the sound comparasion.
@@hicarodestruiFalse I would guess you are PS5 fan
@@jmangames5562 He literally stated in the comments that framegen was turned on only during the sounds comparasion.
+ I literally played on my 4070, dlss3 framegen does not degrade the image quality.
And what this has to do with "Being oa5 fanboy??"
I noticed Frame Gen enabled have some artifacting in the low part of my screen, but well it doesn't matter too much
For a Open Wolrd game, Horizon 2 is the best looking game ever made.
DLAA will blur the image somewhat. Not as bad as TAA. Comparison should have been done without it. That's why there's a difference at 1:45.
Tested with dlaa on / off. Just showing the footage i captured here
DLAA does not blur the image.
Please make a direct comparison on the new Age of Mythology Retold versus the original game!
Reflex latency : On+Boost lowers the fps drastically like around 40 to 60. Just only on ON does the trick and you won't be needing FG. I was getting around 100+ fps at native 4K DLAA and everything at max.
Anyone know what happened to this channel? The guy uploads at least once a month, especially if there's something new out, but he hasn't uploaded in 2 months.
I don't have a Twitter account, so I can't tell what he has posted there.
Edit: Woops, always make sure you've checked everything before asking lol. Just checked his community tab right after posting this.
Has anybody checked on Nick? He hasn’t uploaded in a while. Just want to make sure he is ok.
I wa waiting for this video forever man😊
The fact that this guys got this game on PC as well is a fucking huge W for everyone that loves gaming and also a great story.. Thanks Sony!
Bro, where did you go ? It's been 2 months.
man, I had no idea that the audios changed in the PC versions or remasters, now I'm going to be paranoid...
"some post processing effects will be disabled to provide cleaner images for comparison"
*uses FG and DLAA*
I understand the photomode stuff in regards to FG, but at least turn of the AA if you're going for clean comparisons
Since when are we turning anti-aliasing off for comparisons lol what?
lol tf turn the aa off and it’ll look like a ps3 game
Well yeah... if you have a pc that can churn out DLAA at high fps then your gonna use it lmao. Same with FG, which doesnt do anything visually but produces more fps. Pc version is far superior as always 🤷♂
The fact that I can run the game at 4K/60fps with an RTX 3080 and i7 9700K with DLSS (Quality) just tells me that this game is an extraordinary PC port.
Other developers should take notice of this, so we won't get those terrible PC ports (I am speaking of you Iron Galaxy Studios - TLOU).
This is such a gorgeous-looking game!
TLOU runs 4k maxed out HDR dlss quality at 120+fps on my rig. Upgrade your toaster.
On god bro, I'm surprised how well this game runs I can play all high stable FPS no stutters with 2060 8 GB
@@RobertZ1973 On my rig run at 8k 120 fps!
Is it true the "shadow quality" set to anything other than off causes severe stuttering inside caves or in other words in indoor environments?
Didnt experience anything remotely like that. But it might be an issue with some other configurations if thats being reported as an issue.
@@Nick930 hopefully I’ll have a chance to test it tonight. I’m running a 4090 and it’s annoying me experiencing this. I’m suspecting reflex too but we'll see
Turn off reflex. It’s currently broken.
@@GOPNiK-47you should try adding the other components like a cpu and ram. gpu only rigs are a bad idea
@@RicochetForcemaybe on your toaster
I’m wondering if the differences are a result of going from APU hardware dedicated to gaming to cpu gpu 🤔 either way it’s acceptable without a doubt in my mind being on pc, I can make sacrifices for the higher frame rates and ditching the controller in favor of my keyboard and mouse.
Ghost Of Tsushima PC/Playstation "Direct Comparison" would be great :)
Love your work nick! keep it up 👌
Im ngl. Love these games, but Aloy's quips like "Going down!" or the ones she says whenever you run out of inventory space. Wish there was a setting for that.
10000% agreed. I like aloy... but she doesnt need to comment on EVERYTHING
Somehow Guerrilla and their Decima engine does faces waaaaaaaay better than anyone else, two years ago and it’s still the best by far
might be on your end. I checked and compared the details on your video and mine doesn't look like that on PC.
Different game version
Would love to see a comparison between the recently released Talos Principle 2 vs the original!
a really very good port for PC, probably no one will notice any major differences during gameplay, the noticeable difference will definitely be in the number of frames, probably adding the ray tracing option would give a greater advantage in the overall appearance in favor of the PC. Most likely, the modding community will correct some imperfections for the developers :)
Have you really seen a 4K texture /graphics in fine detail? I'm not talking running things in 4K resolution there is a difference.
I am a huge graphics enthusiast and the first time I played Forbidden West, it was on PS4 Pro and I was mind blown by how good it looked on a regular 1080p TV with PS4 Pro Supersampling mode. They truly have made one of the most stunning looking games ever made. Hats off to the devs 👏🔥
Nick. where are you man? Are you alright? Have you lost your password? Say something to know you're fine
The PS5 PRO is going to play this at minimum 60 fps in fidelity mode (maybe even better visuals)
Could you maybe make a follow up video in a couple of weeks to see if the issues were fixed?
Nah. I'll update in a pinned comment if anything changes. Working on a huge documentary atm.
Nice, thanks! Looking forward to that documentary!
A new patch has dropped which introduces some texture streaming improvements. Might be worth checking out.
btw i noticed some of the issues you present with the pc version like the hair seems to be a bug with LODs, it looks kinda like when you set the negative LOD setting in NVCP for witcher 3 to clamp instead of allow, (makes textures and certain meshes really low quality) from what i have also seen in some comparisons, dlss does not seem to have this issue while native and DLAA do "i could be wrong on that" but its defo showing the signs that the negative LOD value or just LODs in general are bugged.
hello mate ! great comparison like always , hope to see PC version gets some fixes for the Graphic issues :( should not be like this for a PC game , one question tho can you please tell me what software and with what settings do you use to Record gameplays ? they look SO detailed and clean , what bitrate etc
running this game in 5k ultra settings is a huge honor. My game looks better on pc
2:45 the dude in this image looks very realistic both on pc and ps5 i think what we see is the result of over optimization from pc that has to sacrifice a lot of detail for older GPUS.
This game looks unbelievably good, truly shows how little of the next gen hardware’s potential devs are using
it seems like the ps5 version of the game had some type of object motion blur for the water falls wich the pc version lacks so the pc version looks more grainy. i could be wrong but thats definitely how it seems.
This might actually be fixed by using TAA. They might be blending the effect using Temporal Accumulation which DLSS/DLAA could break here.
@@MLWJ1993 i would have initially thought the ghosting dlss usually causes in many instances would help the waterfall but here it seems to actively work against it
@@ThatsMySkill DLSS/DLAA actively does MORE to counteract ghosting than TAA does in pretty much every instance.
That might also be why these look different than perhaps intended.
@@MLWJ1993 yeah i dont know enough about dlss. i just know from gameplay experience there are some instances where there is slight ghosting so i thought it should have blurred the waterfall too. just a wrong assumption on my part
Finally a graphic that looks fantastic and is also contemporary
the game is really fun and the port is more than successful
the whole thing runs super smoothly at 1440p on max, with a 4070 super and DLAA at always over 75 FPS💪
increasing the sharpness might effect how you see aloys character model. i noticed when maxed you see her hair strains better. by default its set to 5/10 i think but thats using DLSS.
The PC version has to be bugged on the highest texture preset. I'm sure they will fix it by the time i'm finished with the game like most PC ports.
Sony limita intencionalmente la Calidad de sus juegos en pc para no quedar mal con sus usuarios de consolas.
The Sunwing episode felt like I was Toruk Makto. Those Visuals were just eye Candy
The frame rates on the PC version are buttery smooth, especially with a high-end NVIDIA GPU, like the 4070 Ti Super, 4080 Super, or 4090!
I like the ps5 version, of course the pc one runs better, but the physical copy for me it's fundamental. So Playstation for me. Great video, thanks!
Nixxes is good at ports, but when it comes getting everything out of the PlayStation hardware guerrilla can't be beat
The fur thing looks like some kind of anti aliasing. If you haven't already tried, try to turn off any antialiasing like effect. Or yeah, might be something that needs fixing dev side.
Tried it. Thought it might be dlaa but no dice
Hi Nick930 :) When is your History of Prince of Persia documentary going to be released? I am dying to watch it!
You can see at the model of Aloy that the face has been "adjusted" in a few details regarding skin but IMO compared to the motion capured model, her face is wider and only looks like it. I never liked it as it does not fit the body proportions. And also, does not appeal at all in some cases.
Been waiting for this
Hi Nick930, great Direct Comparison & I’m excited for your Prince Of Persia Documentary but I would like to suggest something,
I think there’s one RPG series that you’ve probably never covered on your channel.
Yayyy it’s been so long since I have watched a direct comparison
sucha beautiful game.
on both devices.
tho i really couldn't play it on 30fps, unfortunately.
but for those who didn't see 60fps yet, that's gonna be an increadible experience !
12700k 5.2ghz here and ddr4 4800mhz ram. I get no such drops in the cities at all.
5600x + 3080 here, I had huge fps drops in cities and cutscenes for no apparent reason (when camera was facing certain direction only), issue was fixed for my by latest nvidia drivers
@@Crackhonos Seems like the latest update did some good. However the 3070 is really starting to show its limitation of 8gb vram now.
I don’t get why some people here argue about image quality on PC. This is a port not a game design with PC and PS5 in mind. IQ is clearly better on PC as is frame rate but that’s it. As it should be for a port of a game that is couple of years old.
ummm buddy, the game is native 4k on PS5
@@Aid3nn33 I don’t understand your point
Image quality is the same.
Nick didnt mention that the snow and sand deformation is still wierd with how the effect dissapears literally a few feet behind aloy. Considering it could remain for a very long time in the first games DLC
That's just the limitations of the effect. Its the same across both versions.
@@Nick930 I know its the same across both versions. What I was trying to say was I was hoping the PC version would fix this. As Frozen Wilds had a similar effect but with a bigger area of effect
Been waiting for your video on this games PC port...the only comparison i need👌👌
one of the reason that you don't need Ray Tracing on a newer games look at this beautiful game it runs better because there is no Ray Tracing.
Dude, I can't wait for your Ghost of Tsushima comparison!
This channel are abandoned
Many of them facing stuttering issue in day one version and still the cutscenes have low fps issues....some areas are low fps
You said you have frame generation on... so wouldn't that slightly degrade picture quality for the sake of better frame consistency with the ai frames?
Duh
I think the PC version has a "Texture/LOD" streaming issue. Either this or it CAPS at a certain level. Most likely a bug no one ever noticed since no one @Nixxes made a comparison like your video :) (Probably)
Fabulous Video Compare! Much love!
I played the ps5 version for about 20 hours but the story just couldn’t drag me to the end of the game with all other games there are to play. Maybe I need to go back and give it another try on pc
I felt this way after being a huge Zero dawn fan. Push through it picks up drastically after that.
I played in both PS5 and PC and this is what i think
In PS5 you need to play on performance mode otherwise the game is unplayable at 30k and being a game where you need to shoot and aim with less fps is a nightmare and feels cluncky, this said we will discuss only performance mode. The game looks blurry if played on a good monitor or TV and overall the PC versión even on low or medium graphic quality is way better looking than the PS5 version
this game must play with dual sense controller to experience the immersive haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers when archery.
The trigger literally feels like your pulling on a bow string it has this woody feel to it.
I think DLAA was to blame for the lack of some detail on the character model, I would love to see if using DLSS gives you a better result. In some games DLSS looks superior to a native image with other AA applied.
Pc version's colors look a bit on the warmer side too.
Are the weird downgrades patched? Or does the game still looks worse than on PS5?
I would like to know as well
Is it just me, or does the PC audio sound slightly delayed?
I wonder if DLAA being affected the visual quality in any case?
I was very excited when they finally made it available on PC. With all the beautiful textures of the game at the highest settings, I am now able to run it at 60fps only 😭😭😭
9:19 big difference between this to versions: The movement animation in the jungle, linke the movment of the plants 🌿. Much better on the PS5 than on PC.
They have to fix it on PC! 🙏
The best comparison🤘
I didnt enjoy it as much on PS5, 6/10. On PC Ultrawide and a 4080 its a 9/10. I think this also has a lot to do with the kb and mouse controls being infinitely superior to controller.
Thinking those water effects being less believable on PC due to you cranking off motion blur. Probably looks the same if adjusted up
Except motion blur was disabled on the ps5 too.
Whats more, i tested the water with motion blur on as well.
