It looks like an old Porsche but don’t be too confident in thinking just because someone has a Porsche they’re super rich. Having a good car in Canada could mean two things. Either you’re actually rich or you make bad financial decisions. It’s not difficult to loan a car with no money in your bank.
@@firexallst4rz277 Not exactly, old gen consoles maybe but next gen consoles run games in 4k even with ray tracing sometimes. The games are optimized for them, it's not the graphical settings.
yes more better and stable for gaming , i personally wil go far mac mini or macbook if i want to any work task , macbook + xbox series X is perfect combo
optimization plays a huge part as its "easier" to uptimize consoles since theres usually only one playstation and one xbox for example but pc's have numerous builds so it becomes a bit more difficult to optimize
It shouldn't be though if you think about it. What to they create these games on? PC's. Just add more graphics settings, which a lot of games do, and there you go.
@@mv223 They create and test them on a console development kit with the exact specifications of whatever console platform is being used (PS5, XSX) not PC. When they are creating a game in say Unreal engine, they are using hardware and code on the development kit. The Kit is plugged into a PC only to access file/project data etc. This is the reason for optimisation they are specifically developing it on the hardware.
@@mv223 That's not how that works though, sure the code is made in a PC, but the code written isn't a code FOR PC, each system has different firmwares. I mean if PC is JUST PC, why aren't all games in MAC and Unix PCs? If all apps are on a phone, then why is there an iOS and Android version? You're hypersimplifying here.
@@mv223 No, that's the thing, you said "if they weren't so damn lazy" tells me you don't get it all. So I'm gonna oversimply: porting a game from one OS to another isn't copy paste kind of BS. An analogy would be, someone creating a fully articulated figure out of Legos (no Bionicles) and the same person has to make the same figure - looking entirely the same - but with K'nex.
Not to mention optimizing done by game studios is different for PS5 vs old PC. Few years ago it's performance level was measured around equal a 2070, currently in Alan Wake 2 the PS5 seems to do better as the 3070. The PS5 hardware didn't change but the Studio made more effort for the PS5

Issue i’ve started to have with consoles is losing access to your games. Recently got a mini pc and bought a load of my games i either have or had on console. I’m not saying I’ll never lose access to them, but they seem to last a lot longer on PC. If I upgrade to a better PC i’ll still be able to play the games, on PS5 i don’t have access to my PS3 library, i even bought Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon on PSN for PS3 and its on PS4/5 but i have to buy it again. But on performance what you get with PS5/XBX you cant match on PC without paying a lot more
The performance thing is definitely true, but I personally also prefer PC as not only can it run games, but also it can be used for a HUGE amount of more things like work, running businesses, social media platforms, and so many more that make it a undeniable win for PC when your looking at the grand scape of capabilities. Also PCs can be upgraded as much as you want to your standards and modified in so many more ways. I see PC as the win in any argument here as most people tend to focus on performance and games only when there is so much more to be seen in the grand scheme.
If you need a PC for work, you get a PC for work. Why even compare it to something that exclusively does gaming and media playing? Cause for that purporse it's not even close if you conisder new prices.
This is called marketing. See Sony made such console and gave it such a price, so that it seems appealing at first, but where they actually earn is when u buy games that cost 5000rupees(60usd) to 8000(100usd) and then they purposely give u 825 GB SSD so that u spend money on extra SSD and if u want 8k resolution be ready to spend 2,50,000 rupees(3125usd) on a new 8k OLED TV. The normal controllers that already costs about 5000 rupees(65 usd) have stickdrift problem, due to which u spend 18000 rupees(225usd) on an edge controller u have to spend more than 2,86,000 rupees(3575 usd) if u want a perfect ps5 setup, there is much more than this but these are the main ones i have listed, and over that the past console games becomes useless which is really annoying, judging by how much u had to spend to buy those games. Few years and the ps4 games will become outdated and all the amazing games u had bought would be for nothing, even I went to buy a ps5 myself but I bought a gaming laptop instead as I can do external activities other than games, thats why ps5 deserves an L, but its gaming experience is great that's one thing great about the ps5.

here in brazil the ps5 costs R$ 4.000,00 ($ 800,00 USD), but with R$ 3.000,00 ($ 613,00 USD) you can build a pc with Ryzen 5 5500, RTX 3060 or RX 7600, 16gb Ram and 1TB NVMe SSD. R$ 3.000,00 is a lot of money for any normal brazilian, but is way better to spend that money on a PC than buying a PS5, only rich people gets a new gen console here. Most of the people that likes games just build a PC with used parts or parts from china (not anymore because of new importation taxes), this comparison would never make sense here hahahahaha, but its nice to see the PS5 performance against a $ 500,00 USD PC.
I have an upper-midrange PC from around 3 years ago (£1200), a PS5 (£479.99) and an Xbox Series X (£399). The consoles definitely offer way better value for casual gamers that only play a handful of games, but PC starts to make a lot more sense if you are the type of person (like me) that plays multiple games every month. My PC outperforms the consoles by a decent margin, but the biggest benefit is that I save £20-40 on every game I buy for it. Over the last three years I have saved well over £1500 on games compared to what they would have cost me if I bought them on console instead due to access to sales, multiple giveaways and key selling sites. PC gaming definitely is a "go big or go home" type of industry though. If you are spending less than 800 on a system, you are likely better off just buying a console.
In my country the consoles are way more value for money for casual gamers even including expensive games which consoles have . Things have changed a lot in the last 10 years
on ebay u grab a 1050ti 70-80$ dell opt plex with i5 6500 or i7 6700 50-70$ ssd 20$ flash drive 3$= 153-173$ i sold this many time for 300$ I've only heard good things from my customers 120 FPS on fortnite
The only way you are saving £40 on each game you buy is if you are not waiting for a sale on console or you are pirating your games on pc, and you can buy game keys on console too, at least on Xbox.
My opinion is that the PS5 and Series X are better for this money because the game is optimized for the hardware, and the consoles have been mass-produced. On the other hand, a PC is unfortunately more expensive, but it offers much more customization. Due to the recent increase in hardware prices, I personally switched to Xbox.
But if you really spend a lot of money on PC, you can get up to 500 fps. I am planning to sell my xbox and get a PC instead. The PC I am buying costs about $585 AUD and provides: Core i7, RAM 16GB, SSD 1000GB, GEFORCE GTX 1060, WiFi, NEW RGB Case, Windows 10, M1. I think i will buy a seperate graphics card becuase 1060 is too low and 2060 or 3000 would be better. The advatage of PC gaming is that it is Upgradable and in future you can get even better graphics card and keep the system up to date with the latest technology. But yes it can get very very expensive.
@dudepowerful5757 bruh the specs you have the 1060 or 2060 are trash and no way they will beat the PS5 To get performance better than the PS5 you will have to spend $850+

Pc can be expensive if you want a great gaming experience but personally I think the console can be costly too considering you have to pay for online service, and the fact that these companies are buying into the idea of digital properties. On the other hand PC has free online service and some new game can be played for free through piracy, the only disadvantage I see Pc having is poor optimization for games of which I know these companies want y’all to upgrade your cards. Your PC thus can be a working space unlike these consoles.
@@juju5460 I completely agree with you. On the Xbox, I have the Gamepass with lots of games and the annual membership is included. On the PC, you simply have the freedom and can do a lot more. You can also "test" games before you actually buy them. xD

you're forgetting lots of people want a pc to do non-gaming stuff too, so they'd probably be spending at least $300 for a semi-okay laptop on top of the cost of a console, so if you combine the cost of the two you might actually save money, and get better performance for productivity stuff to boot.
Initial cost of a PC is higher than a console, but down the line a PC will give you the better deal than a console, since you can always upgrade your hardware for newer gens. Your SSD/HDD, Case, Power Supply, Fans etc. can all be transferred to your next build, and often you can still use the RAM aswell. So you only have to upgrade your Motherboard/CPU and GPU, sometimes not even the Mobo, and for the price of a PS5 you can easily find parts that outclass a PS5 in that regard.
yep. my ps4 has gone to shit in terms of performance now and theres literally nothing i can do bar complete replacement. Something goes wrong or slow on my pc, all i got to do is swap the bad part/parts for a new one.
It would be interesting to see what you can build and how it compares to a ps5 but not only performance wise but with all pros and cons of each platform.
This is a bad example of a 500 dollar pc. I built my brothers pc for $510 dollars with tax and without tax is was $482. really good idea for a video, ive wondered about this. what i will say is that its easier to justify spending a little more on pc because it can be used for more things and games will feel better on pc because of lower input lag. and also graphics settings between platforms isnt the same, should also be noted that maxing out a game isnt the same quality as console, there is resources out there where people have matched up the settings (digital foundry etc). but its clearly alot easier to buy a console than it is to try find a good value cheap pc, overall decent video
The answer is simple: devs optimize games for consoles, they rarely give a fuck about PCs. Because of this, either you're willing to spend 1000$ for a good gaming build that will overpass the absence of optimization, or you spend your 500$ on a new gen console.
Just shows both Microsoft and Sony were far less conservative this time with the hardware then last gen and actually pushed toward the higher end Now 3 years into the generation ( usually about halfway) i bet we will see devs really show us what these machines can do it will be interesting
Given how many people complain about optimisation id say most people had a pc worse than it in 2022 and 2023 was a wake up call for people to upgrade then the average pc catches up. Say what you want about consoles they are decent value especially at launch
on the flip side of that, it wont be long until games push past current gen consoles' abilities and there's nothing you can do about bad performance since its a console. and when they get old and begin to run poorly just in general, your only option is replacement. You should see my old ps4's performance lol
I always laughed when PC snobs said you can get better performance on a PC for the same price. The Xbox Series X and PS5 are really marvels for their price point still offering things some of the newer specs can’t
@@kkxi2289 You get a barebones kit, you can find them for cheap. Just gotta do some shopping. Processor and ram you can get cheap depending on what you get. Just takes a little time searching.
A direct comparison between console and PC is difficult. simply because the consoles play the games in different settings usually some mix of medium, high and ultra. then the vast majority of games are not in native resolution. rather something like 1200p instead of 1440p, then often upscaling or variable resolution. or the classic when rendering on consoles, checkerboarding. So without thinking too much about it, I would say a €500 PC doesn't beat the console. Only a system with an i5 10600k or ryzen 5 3600 with an rtx 2080/2070 super will beat the console.

first of all, consoles don't run games on ultra settings. If they did, they would let you mess with the settings like you could on PC. Console games are pre set on available modes, which means that the 4K at 30 is not running everything on ULTRA settings, its running at lower 4K settings.
The other thing to consider is that windows is way more versatile, you could do way more than just game on it. Also there are some games not meant for console that just work better in oc

The reason why these consoles run how should I say better then that budget PC you have is because with consoles they really scale the resolution down or they cut corners when it comes to certain graphics settings with the PC that's not the case. For instance on Digital foundry videos they compare both the PC and consoles settings to see what the console settings are running then they try to match those settings on PC.
Consoles have gaming-optimized software, developer tools, OEM support and devs do their best to squeeze the performance out of the platform, as opposed to a PC which have 1000's of configurations.
Great video but games in regards to consoles are optimized specifically for PS5 and settings sometimes can’t be replicated on the PC. Also the tech in the PS5 is better due to the age in the tech in the PC. The 1660 wasn’t designed with Ray-tracing in mind and is basically a 1080p /1440p card. PC gaming is about creating a custom gaming experience on an open platform. If you’re looking for just gaming then the console offers a less expensive option since Sony and Microsoft usually make their money initially from the software sales and sale their consoles at a loss
Yeah but thats also the point of the video, for 500dollars you arent gonna get uch in terms of a good pc. Having a pc is an expensive investment which you will only lose money on. So if youre just looking for an easy and more inexpensive way to play games consoles are probably better.

except that "RT" on PS is not true Raytracing. it's ambient occlusion, it is another Sony marketing scam. You can compare on other videos. Ground apart, Shadows or light reflections on buildings and structures are sometimes absent on PS5 versions. Digital Foundry talked about it even for Pro version.
I tried today as a challenge and managed in a pretty standard build with a ryzen 5 5500 and a rx 6600 xt in under 550 dollars. What really is an issue here is that: 1. you have to know how to build a pc, a ps5 comes ready to play 2. you have to know how to flash a brand new bios, otherwise the cpu will not run on older gen mobos With that said, this kind of pc is upgradable (you can just replace the 5500 with a 5600x or a 5800x3d, or you can replace the 6600 xt with pretty much anything even tho i'd change the mobo as well to get that fresh 4.0 version out of your gpu)
My question, why the hell are we, as a society, making hyper realistic games, that can't run on most PCs, and struggle, even after optimization, on consoles?
The way I think of it is if a console is $500 and a non-gaming PC is $400, that means my budget for a gaming PC is up to $900. If you put a PC in that range (or less if you include the Series S) against a console you would see some very competitive results.

The PS5 uses upscaling And dynamic resolution scaling to get its performance. That PC is actually more powerful. This is actually not an apples to apple's comparison. I think this guy said he was in Canada. Well, here in the US, you can definitely find A PC with a RTX3060 in it for $500.
One thing worth mentioning you don’t have to pay to play online so technically you can pay less overtime for example Xbox live gold is $60 and you pay for it for 5 years that’s $300 the pc overall can be cheaper
If you want to look at it that way, using an older console as an example, PS4 & online subscription from 2013-2020 would cost a total of £770. If you built a PC in 2013 with a £770 budget it would struggle to play any tripleA game released after 2018 at 1080p/60fps. Budget PC hardware is not future proof.
@@LoganLayneOffical That's a totally different situation and irrelevant to the conversation. Nobody is buying a console for productivity, so there's no point bringing it up. If you're comparing home entertainment capabilities, a console is far more capable & cheaper.
@@anita.byou can do that but you dont have to do that. You can upgrade at any time at any price range you deem worth it. The ps5 and pc will degrade in performance overtime so make a pc youd be happy with the performance with years down the line. Which leads nicely into mid gen upgrades if/when we get one which also adds to the cost. Moreso if you collect consoles making it another 500 dollars purchase. We can also count in the new console itself since assuming backwards compatibility you can do like pc gamers and hold out as long as possible but if you want the nice new shiny performance you will have to shill out whatever that price is and whatever games you rebuy for your new box.

I 'm lucky enough to be able to use both console and PC and I like both. One thing that is rarely considered in these comparisons is the time period. What I mean by that is the console is not upgradable, so you basically pick a generation, say PS5 in this case, and that will perform well for what? 6 years before the PS6 comes. Now you match that to a PC that you will not upgrade either for that 6yrs. Why because to run a $500 console also takes about $80 per year for the Essential membership that would be another $480 over the 6yrs. That presents more options in the budget.

Like someone once said :PC units come in so many configurations, Cpu, Gpu, Ram etc. It's so very hard to optimise games for such platform whereas consoles have the exact same configuration for thousands of units, therefore it's easier to plan and execute games for that. However, a Pc can play all kinds of games both Pc and Pc ports for consoles, you can use them for work, 3D rendering, AI and all sorts of other tasks. Again, the age old dispute, consoles versus PC goes down to function : a console only has one function. Also, there are various users, myself included, who simply can't get used to playing with a controler, only mouse and keyboard

optimization plays a huge part as its "easier" to uptimize consoles since theres usually only one playstation and one xbox for example but pc's have numerous builds so it becomes a bit more difficult to optimize
It shouldn't be though if you think about it. What to they create these games on? PC's. Just add more graphics settings, which a lot of games do, and there you go.
@@mv223 They create and test them on a console development kit with the exact specifications of whatever console platform is being used (PS5, XSX) not PC.
With a lot of ps4 games atleast, you get free upgrades to PS5.

My opinion is that the PS5 and Series X are better for this money because the game is optimized for the hardware, and the consoles have been mass-produced. So you only have to upgrade your Motherboard/CPU and GPU, sometimes not even the Mobo, and for the price of a PS5 you can easily find parts that outclass a PS5 in that regard.

really good idea for a video, ive wondered about this. what i will say is that its easier to justify spending a little more on pc because it can be used for more things and games will feel better on pc because of lower input lag. and also graphics settings between platforms isnt the same, should also be noted that maxing out a game isnt the same quality as console, there is resources out there where people have matched up the settings (digital foundry etc). but its clearly alot easier to buy a console than it is to try find a good value cheap pc, overall decent video
The answer is simple: devs optimize games for consoles, they rarely give a fuck about PCs. Because of this, either you're willing to spend 1000$ for a good gaming build that will overpass the absence of optimization, or you spend your 500$ on a new gen console.
Just shows both Microsoft and Sony were far less conservative this time with the hardware then last gen and actually pushed toward the higher end
Now 3 years into the generation ( usually about halfway) i bet we will see devs really show us what these machines can do it will be interesting
GTA 6 will probably be one of those games pushing it to the limit
The best game's always came towards the end of it's life
Given how many people complain about optimisation id say most people had a pc worse than it in 2022 and 2023 was a wake up call for people to upgrade then the average pc catches up. Say what you want about consoles they are decent value especially at launch
on the flip side of that, it wont be long until games push past current gen consoles' abilities and there's nothing you can do about bad performance since its a console. and when they get old and begin to run poorly just in general, your only option is replacement. A direct comparison between console and PC is difficult. simply because the consoles play the games in different settings
usually some mix of medium, high and ultra.
then the vast majority of games are not in native resolution. rather something like 1200p instead of 1440p, then often upscaling or variable resolution. or the classic when rendering on consoles, checkerboarding.

first of all, consoles don't run games on ultra settings.

As an "older" gamer (38), it's just wild to me that we can even have this comparison. Back in my day, consoles could never match up to PCs. Their value back then was just simplicity and easy couch multiplayer, but definitely not performance. The fact that you can have a serious conversation comparing the value proposition based on performance between PC and console shows how much console gaming has changed in recent years.
Bro no offense but with that hairline you got , you might as well just go fully bald bro. You look funny now 😢

Honestly you could get a better PreBuild for about $500-$600 that have a better GPU that’ll give you a bit better bang for the buck. GTX 1070 is about 24% better from the base GTX 1660 and the best I found being a 1080ti with about 81% better performance from the GTX 1660.

All consoles are made on a PC, this PC is forever.
Not only that he was using the wrong GPU. Lots of stuff missing in this video, it's misleading.
500 bucks for a 1660? No way.
At this price range you could build one using at least the RX 6600. Maybe even 7600 if you're tuned in the best offers.
yep + 8GB RAM instead of 6 GB and overall much more GPU-Power. GTX 1660 is simply an odd choice.
Consoles have gaming-optimized software, developer tools, OEM support and devs do their best to squeeze the performance out of the platform, as opposed to a PC which have 1000's of configurations.
So much for "muh PC master race"😂🤣
You can replace better cpu and gpu and the motherboard (only desktop but laptop is no good)
Great video but games in regards to consoles are optimized specifically for PS5 and settings sometimes can’t be replicated on the PC.
@@mikkelbendixen6595 You will always lose money on PC as long as you only game on it. It can as well be your workstation and you can earn money with it, which you cannot say about console.
Exactly, A PC solely for gaming doesn't justify it's price but if you wanna do other things on it like programming on the side like me than the PC becomes the obvious choice
except that "RT" on PS is not true Raytracing. it's ambient occlusion, it is another Sony marketing scam.
What really is an issue here is that:
1. you have to know how to build a pc, a ps5 comes ready to play
2. you have to know how to flash a brand new bios, otherwise the cpu will not run on older gen mobos
With that said, this kind of pc is upgradable (you can just replace the 5500 with a 5600x or a 5800x3d, or you can replace the 6600 xt with pretty much anything even tho i'd change the mobo as well to get that fresh 4.0 version out of your gpu)
My question, why the hell are we, as a society, making hyper realistic games, that can't run on most PCs, and struggle, even after optimization, on consoles?
Did someone say money?
Dumb question. Think ahead
The way I think of it is if a console is $500 and a non-gaming PC is $400, that means my budget for a gaming PC is up to $900. If you put a PC in that range (or less if you include the Series S) against a console you would see some very competitive results.

One thing worth mentioning you don’t have to pay to play online so technically you can pay less overtime for example Xbox live gold is $60 and you pay for it for 5 years that’s $300 the pc overall can be cheaper
PC users will spend $2000 over 5 years "futureproofing their system".
If we're saying things "worth mentioning".
@@labibahasan8302 I suppose that’s true but the pc does more then the console
@@LoganLayneOffical That's a totally different situation and irrelevant to the conversation. Nobody is buying a console for productivity, so there's no point bringing it up. If you're comparing home entertainment capabilities, a console is far more capable & cheaper.
@@anita.byou can do that but you dont have to do that. You can upgrade at any time at any price range you deem worth it. That's why it's advised to not overspend because time makes any console obsolete and it doesn't make financial sense to buy a 4090. which you buy when "financial sense" doesn't matter.

That presents more options in the budget.

yes thats right @@zilverman7820
the psn has great game sales all the time, why do pc gimps think that console players don't get sales???
he compared a $500 pc vs $500 ps5, if the pc would match the ps5's specs the pc would be like 750 dollars
Because they get an ego boner everytime they suggest getting a pc or pirating games because they think the average gamer especially on budget knows how to do or is eben willing to lesrn about that
Like someone once said :PC units come in so many configurations, Cpu, Gpu, Ram etc.
You need at least 700 euros build and even then.
pc always better
Not really.
I don’t know what it’s like wherever you live, but for me in Australia, I was able to find a used PC for my dad with a 2070 Super and ryzen 5 3600 for only $550 AUD (360 USD). This was only about 6 months ago, and there were deals like this all over Facebook marketplace (with a bit of searching and waiting), it wasn’t a particularly unique case. PC still works fine at the moment, the only downside was the awful case, which most people don’t mind anyway and it’s cheap to replace
If you count ps plus fee for 6-7 years your budget on pc goes up to almost 1k. And any gaming pc destroys the ps5
There’s no pcs competing with the ps5 at its price. And if you really want to look 6-7 years down the line the ps5 pro, and or ps6 will be out by then, and the price will still be relatively better than any pic for the pice
@@deyd.8659 yeah but the cost and ps plus subscription is still there. And don’t forget, games cost 15-20% more on ps than on pc. If you game a lot different games the savings are also there
@@deyd.8659No that’s wrong pcs compete with ps5 now and are better value at first they weren’t but now they are so they’re isn’t really a point to get a ps5
But the price on the PC is at least 1k to 5k when you can just go out and buy ps5 for $500
Not anyone can afford a PC these days they’re really expensive to get a decent pc you need to spend at least 1k to 3k not even $900 gets you a decent PC these days
Most PC haver be compare $1600 PC to $500 PS5 and call it a day
Should test against a RTX 3060 pre built because they are so cheap now.
Also, should have recorded the seller reaction when you stepped out of the Porsche after haggling down $50 on a used budget PC 😂
Console is trash and pc is much better
Why are consoles trash exactly?
@@chloepilledGames for $ 70, DLCs giving 60 fps for $ 30, a paid subscription to play online, the inability to upgrade further, disabling the servers of the game you bought, Sony really likes to do the latter.
PS5 beats a $5,000 PC. What chance does a $500 PC have? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Are you serious?
@@TheAnarchist99 Name some great PC exclusives. 🤡🌍
@@TheAnarchist99 Name a year PC beat consoles for graphics, art, animation, sound, design. 🤡🌍
@@TheAnarchist99 Oh sorry I didn't see the anime and foreign language in your profile.
I now realize you're a poor 3rd world foreign child and don't know any better.
@@Dan-cm8df GTX cards for the most part and even the cheaper RTX GPUs can run games pretty damn well if you don't really care about playing videogames in 4k ultra settings and expecting over 60 fps performances. As long as my PC runs games 1440p acceptable frame rates or even 1080p for more demanding games I don't really care too much graphical fidelity. Also Playstation exclusives are coming to PC, I already have God of war 2018 , the last of Us and other ex playstation exclusives and I enjoy the games just fine and I don't care if it takes longer for current ps exclusives to come to PC I haven't even completed many videogames, I just don't care if a PS5 or a better PC performs much better. There are still people out there who play on PS3 which is obsolete yet they have fun
1660 is definitely holding back like crazy any rtx card should make this rig a little beast
A Skytech Shadow 4 on clearance sale would have moped the floor with a PS5. A lot of people get deals on PC by buying them on Sale or on Black Friday.
