Yeah I love all the extra details but the coloring (overall) just isn't as good to me, less vibrant somewhat- or maybe it's the yellowish filter over everything in the evening that makes it look less vibrant.
I think what's happening is that the original game has places where the artists had to subsidize a less powerful engine and console while Guerilla is letting their engine lead their artistic decisions in the Remake. I think you can see it in little things such as the lighting having a baked-in tint, the water having a deliberate murkiness on the bank, and the skybox having a consistent pattern rather than a dynamic one. - Source: out of my butt

I'll probably get the remaster but I'll be turning up the saturation a bit. I love the stylized colors of the first more. I prefer the more colorful pallet. Not everything has to look ultra realistic, that ends up making a lot of games look the same
You mean look like the Resident Evil Remakes? The Last of Us remaster? The Red Dead Redemption pc release? What are you on about, there are a number of well done remasters or even remakes out there. It's not like they reinvented the wheel here.

RDR PC is not even a remaster, its the same as the PS game with uncapped fps. Just look at Marvel's Spiderman PS4 and PS5 versions or TLOU2 PS4 and PS5 versions. They are remasters and are practically the same game with higher frames and some lighting changes.

UA-cam does not do this justice. The remaster actually blew me away! It was like playing Horizon for the first time again. That’s how every remaster should be.
I played the game on PC and I was really surprised by the appearance of the "original game... I quickly went and checked. Yes, there was actually a remastered version on PC from the beginning :D
Played it way back in 2019-2020 on my ps4 and honestly didn’t remember a whole lot besides what the game looked like and a few of the mechanics. Picked up a ps5 a few days ago and this was the first thing I played and it blew me away. It looks like movie. Imo hair has been a big obstacle for games and this remaster is the first game that I feel, made it look as real as possible. Not only do I love this game’s story and gameplay, but now it has graphics that do it justice. Truly a masterpiece.
This remaster was heavily criticized because the original game still looks stunning to this day, but ngl this really showcases the jump in graphic fidelity allowed by the ps5

Just look at Until dawn. Where they even used the same Motion Capture, while in Zero dawn they completely redid that.

Hats off to the Devs for going the extra mile with the remaster and making it look nearly on par with Forbidden West. It's been a joy to play back through and experience it all in much higher fidelity and immersion.
In that comparison, yes the rain looked better in the original, but I suspect that it wasn't a 1:1 of weather conditions. There were just different densities and intensities of storms playing out. I'm pretty sure the remastered's rain looks just as good under the exact same conditions.
So many improvements around the board. It just looks amazing. The only thing bothering me is the color grading. Good thing it's only ten bucks on steam to upgrade to this edition. I'm going to try re-color grade it by changing monitor values to see if I can match the original.
Honestly this is largely an improvement, but i like the color grading on the original snow area better. But otherwise some of my favorite changes are night time and indoors color grading, water rendering and the extra particles in the desert!

The one good thing about having huge backlog/years behind with gaming (like me) is getting to experience older games remastered years after their release first hand with better visuals/graphics 😂
Some of the atmosphere feels off in the remaster, but this doesn't do justice to the resolution and clarity bump. Also, the upgrade to mouth movement and teeth shape is huge in terms of game experience.
For me Horizon Zero Dawn is still "new" like with the graphics and everything that I don't really think it needs to be remastered. Other much older pre-ps4/5 games are what needed the most. Sony is really pushing Horizon
I love the world of Horizon. The machines are a ton of fun to fight with all your different elemetal types and weapons. The lore and world building is amazing and I didn't mind the direction Forbidden West took as much as some did. I totally understand them remastering Zero Dawn to have both their games looking top-notch. Kudos to Nixxes 👍

Hi, my question is, would these differences be noticeable on low to mid range hardware? My laptop has ryzen 7 and rtx 4060. Which version would be better for me?

This why they deleted the original from the PlayStation store when they released the remaster. So if you have the original it's either you upgrade for $10 or delete it and buy full price of the remaster

The remaster looks good, I honestly didn't realize at first. But the sound quality, especially in the German language... Voices partially sound like they are recorded with a camcorder microphone and environmential sounds are sometimes quite off, unfortunately.
To be honest, the beginning of the video had me thinking they screwed up the look in the remaster as everything was too sharp, defined, or objective felt out of place due to its detail (like alloy standing in the grass. Very detailed and did not blend too well with the surrounding environment). I was leaning more to the slight blur the og game had since details fade the further distance they are from you in real life. The point where things started to slowly move to the remaster looking better for me was the first desert change. New rain sucks and needs less visual drops and more slight blurs falling.
Kinda wish they'd give a discount to people who already own the original but wth, this looks dope might grab it and go for another playthrough I wanna see how carja outfits look
The remaster certainly looks very detailed and nice but I like that the colors pop a bit more and are brighter with the OG. Aloy's hair looks more colorful, and it helps a lot to distinguish the character form the environment. The trees and grasses look more colorful. I feel like often remasters tone down colors in games and I'm not always a fan. It looks beautiful but less like an actual video game. Also grass vegetation density is a bit overrated I think that just distracts and clutters the screen from the actual gameplay. Still again it looks very beautiful
Before trying the remastered version myself i was like "what's the point of this?" It looks drop dead gorgeous. This might as well be the best looking game I've ever played right next to Cyberpunk.
Whilst i am annoyed they remastered a game that's not that old i appreciate them going above and beyond with the changes the games look so much better in almost all areas
Honestly I thought this was going to be a useless remaster, and a lot of people have complained about it .. but after watching this video, it’s simply beautiful. I love this game so much and for 10 extra dollars it’s definitely worth it for who already has the game.
I don't think a remastered version was absolutely necessary, as the original still looks great. But I'm quite happy that they did it. It just looks great and now that Aloy looks like she did in HFW, it feels more organic. I now have almost 70h on Ultra again and have only reached 68%. There's just so much to do. Sometimes you just have to look into the distance. Although that's even more fun on HFW. 😆 I love both games!

Gameplay is still the same with some QOL improvements. e.g. you can disable the animation when collecting something.

wow, at least the reflective qualities of the water in the remaster intentionally exposes the fishes. Before, it was impossible to find the fish.

Whilst i am annoyed they remastered a game that's not that old i appreciate them going above and beyond with the changes the games look so much better in almost all areas

The precipitation effects for rain and snow could’ve been better, the first one is so much more realistic.
The snow and rain effects look so much worse in the remaster
Man the original character models were rough. Aloy face looks like a mannequin.
Honestly I thought this was going to be a useless remaster, and a lot of people have complained about it .. but after watching this video, it’s simply beautiful. I love this game so much and for 10 extra dollars it’s definitely worth it for who already has the game.

I don't think a remastered version was absolutely necessary, as the original still looks great. But I'm quite happy that they did it. It just looks great and now that Aloy looks like she did in HFW, it feels more organic. I now have almost 70h on Ultra again and have only reached 68%. There's just so much to do. Sometimes you just have to look into the distance. Although that's even more fun on HFW. 😆 I love both games!
