She did a livestream on instagram last week and I asked her if she had any funny stories from making this film. She said no, "unless you like dark, nihilistic humour". I do like dark, nihilistic humour, so I wrote "Go on!". She giggled at this but still said she had no funny stories. But with a man like Vincent Gallo, how could nothing have ever happened? Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word "funny".
Buffalo 66 is a masterpiece! What makes it so funny is Gallo is literally fighting himself in every scene, as Ricci silently watches her kidnapper self destruct she falls in love with his vulnerability.
Most definitely. Plus all the rejections in the beginning just pile on to his madness. Layla was the only one who supported him really, and the bowler guy. Great soundtrack too.
Christina Ricci is an excellent human being and a fantastic actress with utmost dignity, she won’t really say how badly Vincent treated her during filming because she has too much integrity for that, you can read it in Wikipedia under “Production” …unbelievable!
Yes! I thought it was also hilarious when the two of them were like in the restaurant and Layla gets a hot chocolate and Billy gets ticked about something and goes on about how women suck and then he's like "f*** you" and Layla says "f*** you too!"😂😂😂😂
Moment of truth, she read the script then "called him the next day". I bet she went bonkers when she saw that and wanted to call him at midnight to be involved with it. She realized how good it was- no doubt.
I replied with links but it seems that UA-cam has deleted my comment. Anyway, you can type "Christina Ricci about working with Vincent Gallo" in Google and you'll get articles on the first page.
But the film is great. Those big new York artists are all pretty tough smart dudes, and had to hustle for years, dig, and like Basquiat or Amos poe or James chance is pretty tough. New York breeds these genius hard serious hustlers. Then on Freeway 2 whe Gallo played a woman, the director was very easygoing and was surprised Gallo was all business and tried his hardest, and was very cooperative. It's just like the personality in Buffalo 66 was basically actually who he is.
Who wouldn’t appreciate the most awkward, inappropriate romance movie with a pathos that would make Scrooge blush. This overly hyper hepster still flick STILL manages to break my heart & piece it all back together in a matter of an hr. & 50 minutes. Remains a quality span of time ✨

As interesting as this film is, what is inescapable for me is it is clearly the product of an unbalanced and very right wing mind. Billy (and perhaps Vincent as well) wants women to be submissive and childlike. He wants women to love him unconditionally regardless of how he himself behaves. This is a homophobic and misogynistic film. A fantasy. And whereas it likely speaks to any man and his deep seated desires, in the cold light of day the film can only be looked upon IMHO as a guilty pleasure.
This movie isn't making any brash statements like this, it's Gallo's self exploration and self critique of his upbringing and himself as a person. You were duped for even following the "love" story, it's not a romance, that's just a subplot in order to centralize the whole project, the real important tidbits to focus on are the scenes with Billy's family. The rest, like you said is just purely fanatical fiction.

I'm sure she has amazing stories about making these films but she ain't giving them up. If she writes a memoir maybe she'll let a few go.

You worded that perfectly!
lol "his vulnerability", you mean his looks

So true ..kinda stockholme syndrome
neglected children like billy ended up hating bonding because all of our relationship issues stem from our relationship with our parents

I just love this film. I was 21 when it came out and I had the biggest crush on Christina just from her performance on this film

When they made the movie Gallo was 36 and Ricci was 17. Just for added perspective..
and they did it beautifully with no nudity or sex scenes and barely a kiss scene.
She was actually 16 during filming , I think her birthday was a few weeks after filming
Is this a shifter car???😭😭😭
wonder if the 20 hour day was the strip club scene
Lmao
🥰 christina ricci es muy linda
Some years later she said that Gallo was rude to her and it was very hard to make this movie. Just sayin'.

HA!🙄
Pretty
why did he care so much about the girl making him look good when he didnt even care one bit to look good himself or be nice to his parents?
Bro said the word “span” like 12 times😭
I just watched this movie for the first time a week or two ago and I have to agree, Christina's costume was definitely skimpy in this one😂
Does anyone know the font used in movie opening scene or similar font please tell me immediately I've been looking for a similar font for a long time

Thanks for sharing your laughably "woke" opinion on a movie that's more than 25 years old...
