In AOE I've noticed it feels good when ice fury is up with your pwave/lmt package to ice fury before you drop the totem for a tiny bit extra stat bump. It makes the AOE outside ascendance feel a bit better.
it is definitely worth for use on a prio target or a first option for movement, but I don't know the exact target count where it starts/stops being useful in multi-target situations. Something can feel good to use for sure, but seeing it in the data is much harder to find. Writing that conditional use of icefury in an APL is above my skill set, but I might ask those who are more knowledgeable on sims about this. I assume there's a target count where above it this isn't worth (and probably not worth at all with an elemental blast build unless specifically for added prio damage) but I don't know where that point is. I do appreciate this kind of comment though as it makes me want to figure out where it becomes beneficial and where it stops.
Great video, I like how you actually explain the rotations for each build, I've seen a couple of guides now and people just say a bunch of words and expect everyone to know what they're talking about. It got a little confusing with the way you said some things during the rotation breakdown so maybe some kind of visual on top of the video, that displays the actual spell order would be helpful for the next one you do? Like at one point you said press primordial wave before ascendance and then said, activate primordial wave after ascendance and my smooth brain went into overload trying to figure out what you meant but quickly realised you meant lava burst after ascendance XD Regardless, it was super helpful how you broke all of that down, I was able to understand why we are supposed to do certain things now.
Thank you Ridmark!! Will make a few amendments in raid - hopefully some more dips.. I'm quite enjoying the play style since 11.0.5; after raging when they made Mastery the main stat, I've come to appreciate it overall - the ST build is pretty versatile and keeps up with the other classes.
Been using the Chinese build and it definitely feels the most fun and engaging. Elemental blast looks sick coming out and I love me some chain lighting but it can get a little stale just spamming it constantly
Earthquake will auto apply lightning rod to a target that doesnt have it. So if you're just spamming earthquake you dont have to target switch as much.
Love the videos keep them going lol, would love to see an ele update on this next patch with the buffs and do you think farseer will be viable after the patch today or still stormbringer? Again ty for the content!
Hi Ridmark, thanks as always for your guide! Love it! Just 2 quick questions: 1 - isn’t better to alternate lava burst with lighting bolt to max benefit from masters of the elements buff? 2 - is there any difference proccing ice fury with flame shock rather than a nature + fire spell (like lightning bolt + lava burst)? Thank you very much
I have had decent results using farseer in raid, specially on queen. Not sure if it is the way my guild approaches the fight but I find the instant cast of spirits to run better for me. Tempest can just take to long to cast at times and if you need to move and recast it that sucks. Use it for most encounters though.
Are we suppose to use instant lava burst in aoe to get that buff on next skill or we just spam both CL n earthquake and forget about lava burst totally
Perfectly viable. I would however consider swapping talent in eye of the storm over to elemental equilibrium. 10%dmg for 10 sec after every primordial wave.
Thanks for the amazing guide. Question: if your LB is on cd, can you go IceFury directly into ES/lighting bolt? or you'd better wait and align it with a LB when it's off cooldown? Is it somehow better in terms of overall dps to use it before ES rather than LB?
If you have just used an Icefury, as long as you're using a nature and fire spell before the next Icefury, the order doesn't matter. You do want to try to use lava burst before your earth shock, but not at the expense of over capping your maelstrom.
yoo hi there, Ele shaman newbie here, just 1 question for example in the chinesse build, it supossed to use LB after PW to get haste right? but that doesnt work in Chinese build or what im missing? im talking about the prio target demostration thanks for video and If you or someone else can answer me, I would be very grateful.
It works the same as the other builds. I wasn't sure what you were talking about at first and then I went back and watched the clip and for whatever reason the lava burst didn't go off and I didn't notice. Must have gotten gcd locked but that's a big oops. I say it correctly but, for some reason, missed seeing that in the clip. My bad :/
couple questions about es/lmt/pwave build: if asc is up, i just send LMT and pwave then let asc get the flame shock count up to 6 before i launch the empowered lvb. is there a notable advantage to spreading 6 flame shocks prior to asc? second, i've been using flame shock/prim wave before LMT and it seems LMT has been consistent in hitting 3 new targets. this has been notably easier for me than hitting LMT first and having to click/tab through 2 new targets to shock/pwave. any reason for the preference in shock/pwave before LMT? thanks for the video. ain't a lot of ele mains making guides throughout the years so always look forward to when a post pops up from you.
In all honesty you dont have to lmt if you have ascendance since you get the 6 for free with ascendance, however, for the sake of keeping things simple and easily replicable for a guide, I included it for all situations, as it allows for some extra damage that wont typically pull off threat as the tank gathers. The order for flame shocks, lmt, and/or pwave do not matter for the sake of aoe. If you find it easier to use pwave before, then go for it and is probably better anyway. I usually do the reverse out of old habits but it wont make a huge difference either way.
@ got it, thanks for response. even though the lmt flame shocks are redundant if you have asc, I like to send it anyways just ‘cause I wanna keep it sync’d with pwave.
Not really, as it will depend on your specific gear, however you can sim all of these for your character and get a much more accurate picture. Though you can still make an argument to use any of them if you simply like the playstyle or are better at performing on one of them.
@@ridmarkgaming Guess I have to do that then. I really like the chinese thing, after seening Bond using it. It's fun, but the numbers are lower for me, than smooth brain. The Boss dps is higher tho. I think I'm just not playing very well. I'll try to sim it. Thank you for the advice.
Do you take earthquake on target or at location? as a shadow priest main looking to alt shaman - if I used shadow crash on target and they charge out and miss the rest of the pack that's all my damage gone - I guess it doesn't matter as much as shaman cause you'll get multiple casts of earthquake vs the 1 shadow crash every 30 secs
I always use the "at target location" as opposed to "at target enemy." I would argue location is better in all situations, but the difference is usually minimal so if you're more comfortable with "at enemy," it's not worth worrying over.
Surge of Power feels very odd to play. It synergizes less with Deeply Rooted Elements, it synergizes less with our tier set and playing it is very clunky with having to use Lightning Bolt in AoE if its only 5 targets or avoiding Lightning Bolt like hell because you have Tempest up and you’re trying to build up Maelstrom to proc Surge of Power. And heck, Aftershock even helps go into DRE procs with Maelstrom.
The only time its Worth casting LB over CL in AoE with Surge of Power buff is at 2 targets. Dosent matter if the buff goes to waste on 5 targets, you still press CL. I do agree though that SoP seems the worse choice no matter what sims say. I like my ele to be a bit RNG with aftershock and DRE.
Mastery procs are buged and consume storm frenzy stacks. Same with stormkeeper, instant cast LB and CL consume storm frenzy stacks. Sometimes you cast CL with 1 storm frenzy stack and if you immediately recast CL or Temest, it casts with the same speed of a frenzy stack even though you just consumed it. It significantly impacts cast smoothness especially in aoe, you cant predict when mastery will proc and fk up the casting speed of 1 CL...Doesnt matter so much in single but dps loss is dps loss. Literally a beta game, im getting tired of it.

Thank you for breaking this down, I appreciate it. I had been struggling trying to get down a build/rotation.
very nice guide, thanks for your effort!

Is it really necesary to use Totem+ flame shock spread on opener?
I mean, using ascendance already casts flame shock on nearby targets.
Where can we get your WA package? The one on your discord just links to the Luxthos pack without your edits.
Subscribe and liked the video! Thank you so much! I wanted to play Shaman, and I have been struggling so bad and this has been extremely helpful!
Tried every single one. Chinese build for me is the best.

really thanks for this video. I was looking for something like this. BTW, do u have any video like for enhance?
Can someone explain elemental equilibrium and when to use it? I see builds take it but don’t mention anything about actually using it or it’s priority
What weakaura and plater are you using?
yay!
With smooth brain, at what target count do I switch to CL / EQ spam and forget LB, FS, Ice fury etc?
Settle this for me once and for all. What is the best weapon enchant? Depths or radiant power?
Wouldn't having 1 Vers/Mastery gem increase your DPS as it ties into the Prismatic gem's effect? I've never simmed it where it didn't.
Are we suppose to use instant lava burst in aoe to get that buff on next skill or we just spam both CL n earthquake and forget about lava burst totally
Jet stream is bonkers for the first pack in MoTS.
What about doing the "chinese" build with ES instead, would that be a loss?
Perfectly viable. I would however consider swapping talent in eye of the storm over to elemental equilibrium. 10%dmg for 10 sec after every primordial wave.

Hey, Thank you so much for the new video. Can you roughly estimate the dps difference between the different builds?
Not really, as it will depend on your specific gear, however you can sim all of these for your character and get a much more accurate picture. Though you can still make an argument to use any of them if you simply like the playstyle or are better at performing on one of them.

You can. As I said there are a few 1 or 2 point talents that come out to perform about the same, but they don't have an effect on gameplay.

Mists of Pandaria challenge mode set.

Nope, but who knows if it will be at some point in the future.

Ok
Stormbring is more fun too though haha and it’s not too hard
