Pull out the tabs for the frying pan to aid air flow.

Hey Rachel,,, Y’all have so many amazing vendors and craftsmen available in the UK 🇬🇧. I’ve purchased several items from Tjm metalworks (Treavor) and David Friars,,, not to forget Zed Outdoors 👍👍I would also enjoy one of the Spoon / Carving festivals that are in Your neck of the woods. Even the look of your wild birds ( compared to the US) are so unique, yet similar.
    Blessings to You,,,,
    Appalachian Trucker,,, in Virginia

Hi 👋 I keep meaning to get to more bushcraft events. Maybe this will be the year. I live in a fairly flat region, no mountains or big hills but have access to plenty of woodland. Thanks. ☺️

This looks like a lovely bit of kit, nice to see the unboxing. Nice to hear high street shops matching online prices, it’s the way forward. Love the logo on the kit. Sounds like you have a good handle on the wind and how that will affect the cooking. Great that you have taken the time and care to carefully experiment indoors first. Look forward to seeing what you cook on it! 👍

Thanks for watching! It’s a great piece of kit, used it on Saturday and very pleased with how it performed. I hope you are both and having a good week.

    Happy New Trangia Day. 😊
I bought mine in 2009 after doing a BELA course and, although I have had too many retail therapy sessions since, the Trangia is still used weekly. I’ve lost the yellow bag and the Trangia strap, and the pan/lid needs replacing (too many fry ups 😂).
I also invested in a kettle and one of those lid things that treble up as a lid/strainer/cutting board.
Hope you enjoy using yours 😊

      Hi, 👋
I’ve had a Trangia Spirit Burner for a while and it’s served me well. I thought it was about time to get the cookset and make some better food. Thanks for stopping by. Have a good weekend.

Hi Emz. Thanks for watching. 👀 I took it out Saturday and really liked it. Not sure if I’d use it on a multi day hike though as it’s big.

Nice cookset , please remember to let the spirit burner cool down before replacing the screw lid otherwise the black rubber "O" ring seal will get damaged.

That´s a nice unboxing of a nice piece of gear. I have a kettle, a cheap tea towel, an Opinel and a lighter in my Trangia kit(s). The spirit burner is not ideal for cooking steak. It just does not get hot enough for a good sear. For other meals it has a satisfying performance. If you like mac´n´cheese that´s worth a try.
I own a Trangia 25 for 30+ yrs and a Trangia 27 - both in dousal. I am happy with both. I like the option to get spare parts for the set.
The holes in the windshield are for ventilation and not primarily cooling. It can be advantageous to only partially expose the holes to the wind.

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by. From what I can gather, when someone buys a Trangia, it tends to last. It had a good life scan. I might try a steak, maybe not a thick piece but thanks for letting me know. Have good week.

I think a nice chicken, Madras, myself. As for the pronunciation, I say 'Tranjia', but if you ask Google how to pronounce it, then it's completely different. I'm looking forward to the first outing. Thanks for sharing, Rachel.

My Trangia is looking a tad weary compared to your shiny new one. I only use it for static camping as I find it too heavy and rattley (is that a word?) to carry in my rucksack. Trouble is, I use it so infrequently that I forget how to re-assemble it afterwards... it becomes a krypton factor challenge!! Thanks for sharing, it was a good refresher session for me. 😊

    Ey up me duck.
Looking forward to seeing you knocking up a five course meal on it 😉 *pull the three arms out for the frying pan, it'll then sit tightly inside them.
    Ay a good'un 🙂👍

Ha! How much do you think I can eat lol!
Yes I realised the arms should have been up afterwards. For a first attempt I think I’ve got it, in terms, now how to put it all together.

Enjoy your Trangia cooking! Maybe you have worked that out already but those tiny things the pots stand on inside the windshield are meant to be flipped upwards when you are using the pan. Since you don’t bother reading the instructions .. 😊

Hi Rachel. One thing with the adjustable lid for the flame, it can't be used when the burner is in the bottom of the pan set nor when used with the crissy-crossy thing on top. (I know all the technical terms as you can tell.) Use mine mostly for boiling water for my tea, but do occasionally cook on it, no adjustable flame thing but yes to a crissy-crossy thing and I have a round twig burner which it fits in perfectly and my 700ml pot on top, keeps the heat where it needs to be and acts as a wind shield as the pot fits inside the twig stove thingy. Don't forget your crissy-crossy thing, although to be fair the pegs worked well... (Smiley face) Keep safe.

      @ramblingracheltrailtales  Рік тому +1

Hi Paul, thanks for the advice. I’ve had a spirit burner for years, it’s the the cookset that’s new to me. I’ve just a few different combos, such as a criss cross pot stand and a stick stove. All worked fine, however, wanted to get into cooking for real food once and and while. Thanks again.

You can cook anything in your Trangia! Watch Going solo here on YT www.youtube.com/@GoingSoloOutdoors and you'll be amazed what he cooks! I love our Trangias - we also have the gas adapter and also the burner for gel fuel!

    Hi Rachel,
Welcome to the world of Trangia. For decades they were the choice of Scouts and DofE. Completely idiot proof, bomb 💣 proof and durable at the price of weight. So many videos showing adaptations with other stoves so you can use with gas, multi-fuel, even twigs. Just you try and find a negative video on UA-cam. I'm sure it will last you a lifetime, so many adventures to look forward to. You could if you wish do a unique series of videos, Trangia with a twist your choice.
    Cheers for now.
    Graham

Hi Graham, thanks for stopping by. I hope your having a good weekend. I love the robust nature of Trangia products. I do have lots of gas stoves, and they do feel bit flimsy, I doubt any of them will last as long as this stove and cookset. I tried it out yesterday for the first time and loved it. My next vlog will be out next week, do pop back then and see how I go on. Take care.

Can you use these pans with a normal gas stove? I could do with replacing mine but I can only use that size for my car camping as I struggle to fit everything else in on my wild camps as it is! 🤔🤣👍

I can’t see a reason why you couldn’t use the pans on a different stove. The handle that some with it is very handy.

Its a great bit if kit, I recommend getting a bag of some sort to keep it in to prevent soot/grease getting on the rest of your gear in your pack.

Hi, I have read the instructions, that was for comedy value. Also, I’ve been using a Trangia Spirit Burner for years, just not the full cookset. I did realise the pan stand needed to be up for lid/pan, but I wasn’t cooking on it just an unboxing. 😀
