I love Keaton's character portrayal in this show. I'm playing Carrie currently, and I've watched every online portrayal there is, and from an acting standpoint, Keaton is the only one I've seen who's really nailed this complex and difficult character. Well done.
@@marissaashleyy not that i can share publicly hahah, but there is a clip of me singing the end of Beautiful in the Mr. Golightly “who sang it best” compilation for that song! :)
The original casts always have something special in my heart, but Ms. Whittaker here has something special about her that I can just see. She seems to be the perfect Carrie, in my opinion. The entire cast that is chosen was an all around great choice!
Keaton is just the most amazing Carrie. She's amazing at every role she does. It pains me that I've never been able to see her live, what with me being her biggest fan and everything.
I adore Keaton as Carrie, but I have to say, it's nice to hear her sing this without flubbing the lines. And that piano player needs to take a chill lozenge. Slow it down, hon!
Would it be possible to upload: In, Eve Was Weak, Evening Prayers, World According to Chris, I Remember How Those Boys Could Dance, and or Alma Mater/ Destruction.
I've been looking all over for the sheet music for this song, does anyone know where I might be able to find it? I would even be willing to buy it... Right now I'm using a cut version of the original but it isn't nearly as good as this one.
Carrie: That’s not my name! Doesn’t anybody ever get it right, Carrie, When’ll they remember I am Carrie White? Carrie, Is it any harder so say then; God damn total spastic, and weirdo and dumb bitch Doesn’t anybody think that I can hear? I hear! ‘speically when I’ve got them screaming in my ear, I hear! Every day they mock me and push me around, ‘til I drop If I had a wish, God, I wish they’d stop When will they I wish they’d When will they, when will they, when will they? Sometimes their hatred is out of control, God how they hurt me. Mama says suffering is good for the soul, But they hurt me And if I could, I’d bring them all, Down to their knees! I’d make them sorry forever for teasing Carrie Carrie, Carrie! I will not cry, I am okay, I try so hard to play their way. Why do they find it so hard to say Carrie? Why do they always treat me so bad, They all know my name? It’s Carrie! I don’t know why they all get so mad, It’s always the same! What’s going on deep in me, All of these feelings suddenly? If I am changing, will I still be; Carrie? Or what if I am somebody new? Imagine, the things I might do! I might take a chance, I’ve always wondered how Or maybe I’ll dance And try to laugh more than I do now. And the world will open its eyes, And for once the whole world will recognize Carrie! Then all those people who scream night and day: “Poor praying Carrie!” They’d see the new me, And they might even say: “Look! It’s Carrie!” And finally, I’d hear that word, Sounding so sweet! Thousands of voices forever repeating: Carrie, Carrie, Carrie! I am the sound of distant thunder, A colour, a flame! I’m Carrie! I am a song of endless wonder, That no one will claim. But someday, oh my, someday! Someone will know my name!
You know she could have sang the original lyrics but of course everything has to be the revival which is stupid because the original may have flopped but it's better to fail on Broadway then not get on Broadway at all they were aiming for Broadway originally but never made it how sad they deleted some songs changed the lyrics which almost all of the original lyrics were on key and went with the beat the revival was so off key
Ok so I don’t know the original lyrics so I can’t comment on that specifically, but just because it’s the revival doesn’t mean it’s bad. And as great as broadway is, it’s not the be all end all. There are plenty of wonderful productions that never make it to broadway and there’s even some that are received better in their off-broadway runs than their following broadway runs. It’s totally understandable if you don’t prefer this version, but there’s no need to be rude.
@@erinr8614 this was eight months ago honey, I no longer have an opinion on this musical because I focused on other musicals and books that I prefer, I would do admit I was being rude at the time but that was because I was angry at the revival and I was angry at the fact that so many people were praising it over the Broadway version, and when I said my opinion that the Broadway version was better they attacked me for it, so yeah I had every reason to be salty but I'm not like that anymore.
Okay, I actually don't like this performance. At all. I started listening to this with Molly Ranson, so I may be biased, but I really don't like this...I think overall, Molly has a better voice, and portrays the character so much better. I'm personally starring as Carrie in October through my community theater, and I really cannot draw from her performance right now...vocally and acting-wise, I think it's very much lacking.
Really? I think Molly's voice is beautiful, but I feel like she sounds to mature for this role. Keaton's is higher and more child-like, so I feel like it matches Carrie better. I respect your opinion, but personally, I love Keaton's.
I’m personally not a fan of molly in the Carrie role. I really love keaton’s more childish and vulnerable take on how she sings as Carrie. Molly has lovely vocals, but I don’t really enjoy her as Carrie- she did do a great job in the revival studio recording though!
you need to listen to the version that’s actually the performance, i way prefer her over molly though, she fits the role and does it well this is not the video to be watching if you want to draw inspiration from her because she’s not actually performing she’s just singing in this (they’re both great though btw)

Rose Riley did you also play Veronica in Heathers?
Julius Berdin Yes I did!
Rose Riley do u have a video of it? I love heathers and I’d love to see it
AHHI JUST SAW YOU IN A VID!

There's something about her voice which is so powerful and blissful.
I JUST SAW HER IN THIS!!! CARRIE THE MUSICAL!!!! SHE WAS AMAZING!!!!!!
bring this show to broadway! alice ripley and keaton whittaker!
Whoever was playing the piano was mucking up this performance big time. Keaton did solid despite that hindrance
Holy $#!%, this girl just blew me away! What a production this is going to be . . . give that casting director a medal!
I absolutely ADORE Keaton. So excited to be playing Carrie this summer!
I spent more time being distracted by the piano player than actually paying attention to her performance.
I adore Keaton as Carrie, but I have to say, it's nice to hear her sing this without flubbing the lines.
And that piano player needs to take a chill lozenge. Slow it down, hon!
Get it Keaton
Saw this show last week! Keaton couldn't have been better
piano player is going too fast
Samantha Mattson what? No, it doesn’t.
The first time I've been thoroughly entertained by this number. Brava!
Im so beyond excited for this show!!
Holy heck this makes me feel old.
Fantastic job Keaton!
Booom!
This is amazing!
Amazing!
I think she will be an awesome Carrie

Why is it so bloody fast? She's out here playing Eminem playing Carrie
