    I love asmr but your regular videos give it to me with your normal voice! No need to do anything particularly dedicated to please those of us who love unintentional asmr!
    In fact its why I started watching your channel in earnest. I saw one video where you talked about a particular problem 3D printing and how to fix it. It was fantastic unintentional asmr. You have the best speaking voice for it.

    Shhushh! 🤫 Hi 🤗 This is a veeeery gentle video. Some friends told me they wanted to see a longer editing of the engraving process. So, I decided to make this "ASMR"(ish) experiment. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Let me know!

    Great demo! What were your settings for the etching. What bitmap mode did you use?

    I found it interesting how you treated the peace after being engraved - what is it what you used, oil?

    • @GeekDetour
      @GeekDetour  Рік тому +1

      I am still trying to find something that keeps it dark - for more contrast - AND that is food-safe. I read people recommending: if you use olive-oil, it makes it temporarily darker and it is ok to serve food and use knifes and everything… it doesn’t keep it dark for long, though. Still looking, still learning! 😄 Hi mom! 😘

      @@GeekDetour in a second view I could read it was olive oil, well I think it is pretty good, it is used exactly for food, a good result and can be reapplied as much as needed to keep it nice looking.

      @@GeekDetour How heat tolerant is the slate? Kinda wondering if you could cure the oil (though I don't think olive oil is suitable for this because of its smoke point) with heat like with cast iron?

    what were the settings you put in the recording, the speed the power...?

    • @GeekDetour
      @GeekDetour  Рік тому

      This is an excellent question! I don’t remember! BUT, here is the secret for success: ANY new material you purchase for a project, get a few extras and BURN a Power-vs-Speed chart. Lightburn has a tool for that, and then you can see what will give you the actual results and chose what you prefer. Every material, even from different manufacturers, will behave slightly differently.

    How do you engrave gold text?

    • @GeekDetour
      @GeekDetour  Рік тому +2

      And I was asking how do people engrave completely neutral white text 🤣 I didn’t have the chance to run a Power VS Speed test on these Rock Slates. It was my first one and what I noticed is a difference between the stripes in the middle and the rest of the logo - because I used different power settings.
      Also, I am absolutely sure every batch of slates might have enough chemistry differences on their compositions so it would advisable to run a test en every new batch, to get the best results.

    Haha I also tried rubbing mineral oil on my slate once and it left those terrible strands of lint and never again 😂

      Ha ha ha, yeah! I need to get back to testing lasers again on the Rock Slates - mine got a little bit “goldish” color, instead of completely white. I heard some people put mineral oil before burning the design… So many cool tests yet to be done! Need more space.
