    You can actually etch on stainless steel after coating the surface with mustard (or possibly vinegar--haven't tried it yet). My uncoated stainless steel attempt (with just a 5w laser) also caused smooth metal discoloration but the mustard coating actually created a rough surface.

    I really feel a contrast with this video. How can the people could have so little imagination that they only ask you to engrave logos and brandmars ? Is there no creativity and ability of thinking beyond commercial designs ? Do we need to reproduce again and again, pictures and symbols that are already so much imposing themselves and colonizing our imagination through advertisement ? The content of engravings might be very poor and cheap, but still it is nice to discover with this video what materials can be cut and engraved, it is up to each one to get good ideas then, thank you for sharing !

    For metal I always use Brilliance. LBT does work, but can be wiped off, you have to clear coat it after for a lasting impression. Dry lube Moly doesn't work well at all. On tiles, Cold Galvanized spray does work, but you have to be real careful about over spray, as it will go into the pores of the unfinished portions. Rustoleum satin white also works, but you have to use lacquer thinner to clean off the excess paint, which is offensive.

    In your opinion, is the lack of limit switches and, therefore, homing ability a big issue for the Xtool? At this level, that omission seems a bit strange.

    • @BuildDadBuild
      @BuildDadBuild  2 роки тому +1

      I don't really have an issue with it. Where you may run into issues with it is if you have jig and set it up to zero in reference to the jig. The Aufero Laser 2 does't have limit switches either. I think they're trying to make the machines a little more user friendly and less intimidating.

      Get a sheet of steel as a backer, spray paint the sheet metal with rust Oleum dry galvanizing spray, once dry, lay the acrylic on top of the sheet metal and laser away... I set mine (d1 10w) to 25% power and 55mm/s... It'll cause the paint to permanently transfer to the plastic... Good luck!
