So it turns out they made this and it slipped under my radar today. Thanks for saving me, a fellow fan of the original, from missing out
So far I'm more impressed by the attention to detail than the story being presented. The firearms and their cleaning equipment aren't something you see animated or drawn a lot but if you buy one and you try cleaning a rifle, a pistol or a shotgun without them (cleaning rods, brush, picks, oil or grease) then you'll only succeed in damaging the weapon or cleaning small portions of it.
It’s free ASMR
The 2003 adaption has this very thick atmosphere in regards to its episodic nature. The color pallete is noticibly darker, and most endings are left ambiguous. As a viewer, you cant help but feel uncomfortable for how the World around Kino works. In my opinion, the first episode of this new series threw all of that expectations out of the way. Visually, everything is already lighter. The stories they picked have good endings. Everything ended well for the characters. It was a bit disappointing. Still, I enjoyed it. I hope they adapt more in the future.
I fell in love with series after the very first episode of the first season. I was so glad when I found out that a second season was being made, with better animation. I wish they make another.
Hi, Finley, I love your videos, and I hoped you would return, but it's okay.
You're videos have increased my love of anime. :-)
Wow I didn't know the new Kino no Tabi was a sequel! I thought it was just a remake, gonna have the check this out now, the only complaint i had with the original was the art style and aspect ratio (i think it was 4:3). This new show looks amazing tho. I'd love to see a couple mini videos on the philosophy of some eps of the original Kino no Tabi. That show seems like a philosophy gold mine lol
It is a remake of sorts, but they adapted some other stories as well.
Me too ..i watched the newer version of this anime...when i watched the first episode it just drew me to watch the whole show at a stretch.loved it.
Thank you for this. Kino's Journey is regrettably unknown by most anime fans, much less most fans of film or literature. I'm an old guy and I was hooked from the first episode of the first series. I love it so much I tracked down the young adult novel translations ... and they are marvelous!
Kino's Journey reminds me of my own journey through life ... only I was not as smart and wise as Kino. She learns her lessons quietly and quickly whereas most of us -- well, me in particular -- have taken years to realize just what significance if any my life has taken. I wish I'd met Kino as a youngster ... that would have saved me a lot of grief and embarrassment.
Again, thank you for the great review and for bringing attention to this wonderful work of art and philosophy.
Imho i see Kino's wisdom came from her pov as an observer. She put herself as an outsider. She observe, anylize, but never sympathize with the characters she met along the journey. She never has the intend to interwined with other's life. That's why she can always stay at the neuteral ground and she things at it is and appreciated them as they are nomatter how shitty or good the place she travel to.
One comment for the algorithm.
Do you have any plans to cover any of the original Kino's Journey? Episode 2 of the original in particular has a lot of philosophy I would love to hear your take on
Either way, I loved this video! I didn't like this new show as much as the original (which is my favorite anime) but I agree this was a solid episode
your channel is fantastic and you are incredibly good at introspective outlooks
She's a girl btw. Love your vids!
Female, but does not like being called girl or boy.
The opening by the campfire is also the prologue to the novelization that tokyopop released (sadly, because of how they handled the translation, they lost the rights and only volume 1 was ever released).
I think a lot of people miss the greater point to this prologue as it sets out very explicitly the theme of the whole series and the towns they visit. Each one either hides an ugliness within an ideal that defines the town, or proposes a beauty to hide an ugly truth. These truths and lies and the societies built upon them contribute to an incredible view of humanity, one aspect at a time that cause you to have empathy for humanity while recognizing its worse aspects, and each side to this is intermingled and unable to be separated, hence, the world is so beautiful, yet so ugly as well... and you, as the reader, are compelled to read on....
EDIT: also, "Master" I didn't remember from the second series, but there were a few OVA's a few years back that you had to get through less than legal means that explain her. She was the first person really that Kino went to after the origin story we saw in the 2003 series, and someone who basically taught her how to shoot. It was a nice OVA.
The last show I enjoyed watching was Sagrada Reset. There's a lot of existentialism some clashing ideologies, so there's plenty to talk about.
the story of this episode can help give light to an other wise dark world
Delightful channel. I like it.
aMAZING.
I want to marry this UA-camr
Please make Great Teacher Onizuka or Hajime no Ippo
Btw, great video
Amazing video. I was not sure if I wanted to watch Kino's Journey or not but your video convinced me that it is amazing but, where would you say is a good place to start? The older series or the newer one? Or is the newer Kino's Journey just a remake of the older one?
I recommend starting with the older one. They're both good in their own way and it's a lot easier to go from the older, not as well animated, to the newer. They also both include stories that aren't included in the other adaptation so, I'd recommend both. Some episodes are just remakes though.
There's a new one?What?!
Is the ending music from Haibane Renmei?
Where can I watch this#!!
Two questions.
1. Alright with subs?
2. Take recommendations?
Yes, I take recommendations. Alright with subs?
I was going to recommend "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" but it's only subbed.
The Anime Philosopher Do Boku no Piko :b
Haibane Renmei is the best
Good video. Shame that first ep was easely best ep in hole series, which was disappointing
P.S I'm here from Mathwiz, +1 sub

Just discovered your channel and it'd be great to see a full video on anarchism from you, specifically because you seem to not view it in a positive light. Psycho pass might be a good show for that.
This was not the very first episode of Kino's Journey, it was ep1 of s2. The majority opinion of s2 was it was OK but not as great as S1 was.
