    What I noticed....whenever Amber is not threatened by a witness, she has that scary frozen stoic "model" face. Yet, if she feels threatened (because she knows witnesses speak the truth), she grabs that pad and begins scribbling! Lol. If you've watched enough Law cases - you KNOW the defendants are instructed to do this to prevent/offset any emotional expressions! She's so obvious.

I have BPD and it frustrates me that she has no self awareness or intention on becoming a healthier person and managing her mental health when there have been ample signs indicating she should and now it has resulted in her hurting someone so much and yet still, I don't believe she sees it for what it is. She doesn't think she needs help and so she won't get any better.

    I've met one person I definitely think was histrionic. She was a manager at a restaurant I worked at a long time ago. She definitely played the princess role and would go into victim mode sometimes, crying even. She saw my passcode to my phone one time and I caught her going through my phone! She bragged about herself constantly and always HAD to be the center of attention. She would insert herself into any situation and schmooze. I personally got along with her but observing her was amusing. She was so obsessed with being "perfect".

On the off chance I ever tell stories I may get some details wrong but I don't make things up, seems unnecessary. Attention getting, I can see it for narcissists. The way she described identity is outdated. Given our cultural shifts and hyper exposure to media it is actually more “normal” to shift interests, hairstyles, clothes, etc and do them all or shift in phases. It is more acceptable now as a “norm” people want the latest trends that change quickly or go back to a different trend once another is out. Also, her thing on being like the ppl around them, that is also so common. In every social circle the peer pressure ppl feel, again more than ever now, people want to fit in or pretend like they don’t but then mimic the popular group’s behavior who they are trying to be like, whether that’s for a promotion, climbing the social ladder, likes on social media, people will shift to gain something. Those things aren’t that relevant everything else makes more sense in the case but the identity thing did not have relevance, ppl do that and at the end of the day they are still able to choose and made the choices, she made the choice to lie.

    • @Liminal-Galaxy-System6819
      @Liminal-Galaxy-System6819 Рік тому +4

      It’s true that people are by default social creatures and herd animals, so-to-speak, and will do things to conform to their peers if it means fitting in (remains of evolution where being part of the pack = survival that hasn’t gone away despite our domination as a species over the planet). However, BPD identity disturbance goes well beyond this causal, normal need to fit in. It’s an extreme form of that insecurity.
      Firstly, all personality disorders are a disruption of the narrative self. Secondly, the way the narrative self is disrupted and the coping mechanisms to mend it are different from PD to PD. For BPD, they literally feel like they do not exist unless they’re being interacted with. And this isn’t emptiness as in the feeling you get when you’re alone on a Friday night; when Dr. Curry says ‘identity’ she’s really referring to ‘core sense of self’- when a pwBPD feels empty it means dissociation or derealization/depersonalization, along with feelings apathy, anhedonia, etc. They don’t know who they are unless they’re around people. They don’t “exist” unless they’re around people. They *need* to have someone to tether too in order to feel like a person (and the fear of abandonment ties into this, if they’re alone the Void will consume them, and a lot of pwBPD self harm, either as a means to combat their huge emotions and/or as a way to try and feel something when they’re alone/isolated).
      Yeah, some brown noser in corporate America may suddenly take up an interest in golf when he hears his boss talking about how he likes to golf on Wednesday, but that’s not the same thing as having an identity disturbance as is in the case of BPD.
      And finally, the idea that you believe that everyone is incredible fluid in personality and easily influenced by outside trends and external factors suggests you either have PD or at the very least PD traits (possibly HPD- part of the diagnostic criteria is easy suggestibility meaning they’re people who follow common trends and are willing to do what others around them want if it means being the center of attention, as Dr. Curry pointed out).

      @@gratielaion6767 If it is simply style change it could also be curiosity, liking novelty ect. Maybe someone has ADD/ADHD and likes novelty more than the average person, because novelty is one of the things that triggers dopamin, which is too low in pwADHD. It could also be someone who is a scanner personality. Who is motivated by doing the thing and likes to experience different things, instead of wanting to archive great skill in something.
      There are so many reasons behind a behaviour, that I think we really needto look at the inner workings of a person to say anything at all.

      She is a forensic psychologist and she was asked to evaluate her. She is not her Dr as a treating Dr would not be allowed to do the evaluation due to the potential bias. The court ordered the evaluation because she claimed to have ptsd as a result of their marriage. (She specialises in ptsd and said she didn't find ah having ptsd).

    Most couples I see in relationships become their partners taste and interests, and how many American Couples want to dress the same. I believe it's called Twinning. I'm sure if all of us had a Pshyc evaluation we would all have a bunch of disorders because we've all been through challenging experiences in life that have an impact on our mental health. If any person wants to judge Amber I would tell them first to go and look at themselves in the mirror. If you can say you have no wounding from your childhood with your parents, ex partners, friends in your past, bosses, and work colleagues, well lucky you! Never judge another person unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. I think the majority of people on this planet are screwed up, there is no normal.

      The difference between that and BPD is that you might see changes through years and years of marriage, like your wife slowly tolerating and actually starting to enjoy your music taste, whereas someone with BPD will completely mirror your opinions and personality, they’ll pretend to be whoever they think you want them to be, in a addition to this someone with BPD has a low threshold for this behaviour, whilst a normal person might be seen to do this after years of friendship, the borderline will do so in having just met their new ‘favourite person’

    • @caitlinkearns6675
      @caitlinkearns6675 2 роки тому +2

      @@bigeddiespaghetti5618 this isn't actually fully correct. I have BPD and I do not take on other peoples opinions or pretend to be who i think the person wants me to be. I have my own opinions regarding things and I won't change them for others, but I will take on interests (e.g. listen to new music, like new movies/tv shows/games) the other person has, and as I slowly get to know them better then yes, I'll start mimicking the personality in some aspects. Not all of us copy people to that extent.

I can understand why she was so uncomfortable hearing her disorders; she's not used to having her actions exposed, only exposing others. I hope that she continues to work on herself, if not for the people she loves, but, especially for her child.

    When I was in my twenties I read The Prince, Machiavelli. After which I found The Princessa by Harriet Rubin conveniently lying around for my inspecting grasp, so I read it. I tried to understand it. My biggest take away was that by emulating women energetic tones & behaviors I could pick up women incredibly easy. As an experiment it was rather disheartening because I’m really a very masculine male & immediately realized that all these women were attracted to was a relatable reflection of themselves & not actually me. They made me feel like the perfect man, I didn’t agree. Although I found both of these books enlightening in the perspectives, I don’t really apply them, but beware them, & would rather just be myself. I would rather listen to myself/heart, my environment, & listen to God. I’d rather adventure into the miraculous strange of God’s reign studying greater things than our own small mindedness then to sit & roost over our regular repetitious games. I am a dreamer… I believe in greater things then what the average life has to offer. I absolutely love the golden nuggets I find in the Holy Bible & cultural histories that associate so profoundly with the anomalies I’ve witnessed. There’s humans & cultures out there.

      @lt7378 2 роки тому

      @@KitKatSukiKat I know it is serious and you’re right the histrionic/BPD explains a lot. (I figured she was borderline years ago). This is a behavior issue that probably started early in life when she got her way in most everything so it only “strengthened” her impulses. I grew up with a sister with this disorder, and it should not be an excuse to being abusive, jealous, selfish, vindictive and entitled. For example , a pedophile is most likely born with some of his innate perverted tendencies, but we should not excuse his acting out his perverted desires because, “he can’t help it”. Odds are the desires began early in life where it started out only as temptation. In my book, one needs to “kill it (impulses) before it grows.” We all have our “demons”, but we must not act on them or the desires only get stronger until it becomes reality and people get hurt- including the perpetrator . I’ve seen this happen with every type of sin inside all of us. Amber got away with so much in life in hurting others to feed her ego. The best thing for her is to get punished so she can rethink her path. I think it will improve her as a human being. I think jail time would do her good.
