Could you do an update on this product? Just wondering how these are working for you.

I use the Rocky Mountain Soap Co's shampoo bar which also is made in Canmore! But they only have one bar currently. So happy to hear about this brand!
I will try them out next and also add them to my list of companies making shampoo bars in my video about shampoo bars. :)

There's a Canadian brand called crate 66 I think. They are usually at trade shows and the CNE (if you're in Toronto). They have a beard soap with beer in it that you can use as a shampoo bar, it's quite nice. All natural and vegan ☺

Crate 21. Toronto based. My bfs and I use their body soaps and they are by far the best I've ever found. My bf is spoiled now and refuses to use any other soap. What type of hair do you have? Mine is fine and greasy but I switched to just sea salt water and flour for the scalp to clean it now and it's a lot less greasy.

There’s a Toronto based handmade soap company called Skipping Stone Soap, they make great shampoo bars and they have online orders and a few local retail spots in downtown.

For realy greasy scalp you should try scalp scrub before hair wash once a month at least, because schampoo it self can't remove all sebum with dust and other hair care product leftovers.. I tried few scrubs until now (Natura Siberica scalp scrub, Togethair peeling scrub) and now am satisfied with DSD de Luxe 1.3 peeling (antiseborrheic treatment). That works for me to control sebum and prevent dandruff..

Hi Sarah, how long does a soap bar last for?

    • @sarahhtran

I am still working at my first Gingerbeer bar! So far it's lasted me a month and a half, and I wash my hair once a week :)

Hi Sarah, I have hade problems with my hair and scalp for a long time. Bought so many shampoos and som are good for my hair and bad for the scalp( I have dandruff) and som are okej for scalp and bad for my hair and some are terrible . It is very difficult to find a shampoo that are good for scalp and does not make the hair oily/Shine.
My hair was amazing but now it gets oily and I hate that. The only thing that helped my scalp is LEMON

I've been using baking soda for 5 months but want to swap to shampoo bars. I have noticed my hair becoming do much fuller and healthy and I worry if I swap to bars my hair will stop growing and thickening. What is your experience with this?

Since I started using nature shampoos, I started to get dandruff and my scalp are flaky and itchy. Do you have similar experiences? Does the gingerbread shampoo bar helped dandruff?

    • @sarahhtran
      @sarahhtran  7 років тому +3

TheLoveWithYing that is very interesting. I actually had dandruff issues before I started no-poo/using all natural shampoo bars. Dandruff is actually the reason why I started more natural methods but no, I have not found any shampoo bars to actually get rid of my issue, I only find temporary relief. This is also why I do a coconut oil and lemon treatment before every wash to prolong the scalp relief. Nothing g has been able to get rid of it completely and for me it could be because of either diet, or genetics or I've heard gluten could be the reason. For your experience I am not sure since you developed it after trying natural shampoos. I would suggest maybe trying out methods like my lemon and coconut oil to get rid as yours does not seem like it could be as permanent as mine.

TheLoveWithYing I had the same experience, where at the beginning 2 months (after transition phase) my hair were actually stronger and cleaner. after that i started having hair loss, dandruff and weak hair. i don't know whether it's the problem of shampoo bars, the vinegar rinse or my own scalp. my condition now is better, the dandruff is less, but still there, and it's been a about a year and a half now. what i did were: 1) try different shampoo bars instead, especially trying out those have weaker cleansing power/for dry hair. 2) switch back to conventional shampoo but only to those with better ingredients e.g. avalon organics; 3) washing with shampoo bar and conventional shampoo alternatively; 4) visit chinese doctor to fundamentally improve my own body, and this has obviously helped my hair sebum secretion, allowing me to wash less frequently.
On the other hand, I've heard people making and using soaps saying although soaps are good, perhaps it's simply not suitable for some people, it's really down to personal situation and there's no need to force yourself to use soaps if they really don't work for you!
      Hope that helps somehow!

Ja K Ja K Thank you so much for your information! I think my situation could be result of my genetic oily combination scalp plus I was using head & shoulders for years. My husband has the exact same condition as he uses what I uses =p I actually haven't try any shampoo soap bar but only nature shampoo. I have been eyeing on dandruff focused shampoos like Avalon organics, I guess my journey of fighting for dandruff continues...

what do u use as deodorant? i used to use shimdts deodorant for about a week but had to stop. I use the stick version and it makes my underarm got darker. now i use calamansi as my deo.

I have tried Meow Meow Tweet & Kaia Charcoal Deodorant but nothing has worked as well as my lemon method and it lightens your armpits which you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/TdS7kOTv4pw/v-deo.html. This method doesn't stop you from sweating but it will get rid of odor.

sarahhtranTV I am using purelygreat deodorant and it works and does not darken my armpits. I have been using it for almost three years. They are also Canadian and they do 20-25% off every quarter or so. Hope they will work for you too! Good luck!

Wonderful! Super excited to try it. Almost all the shampoo bars I've found, including a great local one from Oakville, use palm oil. Which is something I'm trying to avoid in my products. Gah, I wish the shipping was less though! Hmm.. Maybe I'll see if anyone wants to join me in a mass order to Ontario lol.

Hi, are you still around on UA-cam? Just wondering how O' Canada Soap Works has been a year on. There's a real sparsity of no 'poo and long-haired Asians buying Canadian-made products so I'd love to hear how it's worked for you!
