I’ve been doing a huge shampoo and conditioner bar experiment over the last several months, and here are my top picks: Superzero, Earthling Co, Peach Not Plastic Volumizing, and Conscia. I didn’t want to like Conscia because it’s so pricey, but I snagged some of their trial sizes during their holiday sale and fell in love. Sigh. 😂 I also had concerns with an ingredient in one of their formulas, and they emailed me back with a detailed explanation as to the extremely low usage percentage. Even so, they had already decided to reformulate, and offered to send me another formula in the meantime. So I was impressed with their transparency, commitment to improving, and great customer service.
Thanks for sharing this! Amazing info here. I’ll take a look at the few you’ve mentioned here that I’m unfamiliar with. That also sounds like incredible customer service…wow 🥰💜
I’m using Humby organic shampoo bars. I’ve used purple rain and at moment using blueberry fields. I’m happy with this brand so far.
I have always had fine hair and was looking into the bars
What’s your favorite bar? 💜
I'd love to know what you think of the Viori bars, especially for someone with fine, naturally curly and colored hair.
I'm currently using ethique, frizz wrangler. Its easy to use and rinsed well. The conditioner is a little heavy. I also enjoy chagrin valley and spinster sisters.. The bars last for awhile. Not sure how many uses though. I have fine wavy hair.
I’ll have to check these out! Thanks for sharing 💜
Would love for you to review Seek Bamboo shampoo bar. I found your reviews very helpful, thank you!
thanks for putting @seekbamboo on my radar! I'll take a look. And thanks for the kind words, so happy to hear the reviews are helping 💜
I’m not sure if you’ve tried it, but I’ve been liking the peach shampoo bar for my somewhat thick hair and dry scalp. the scent is also nice and subtle👍
I love peach too! I use the volumizing bar & it works great.
I’ve never heard of the brand until just now! I’ll check em out. Thanks for the suggestion.
I have been using the Kitsch rice protein bar. The shape is different than the one you showed. I liked it jnitially but over time my scalp started getting flaky and also, the bar stopped suddsing up. Not sure why. But I did see a difference in hair growth and less hair fall out.
yep, they redesigned the bar since I purchased last! 💜 interesting- I've heard with bars that some sort of clarifying step is a must. It's not my advice, but it has been suggested, so that could help with scalp build up.
Loving Superzero for over a year now! On your recommendation, tried Evolve, but the nominal difference just doesn’t justify all the plastic. But if Evolve were to use aluminum bottle. . .
Yes!! Nice. I know, I wish they could get rid of the plastic too
I still like the Odacite bar but am also trying a shampoo bar from Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve. So far so good. Oh, and now that I think about it the Kitsch shampoo bar runs out fast!
Thanks for sharing! Oh I haven’t seen the Chagrin soap, but also did see Kitsch has a new bar shape out. Doesn’t look like it will work as smoothly but I could be completely wrong there!
I just stumbled upon your site as I was looking at REI’s hibar stuff. Two things:
I feel like I need a primer on how to actually operate the bars successfully. Long ago I used a shampoo bar from lush and it just never dried out and turned to mush. Operator error I’m sure but how do you work these bars?
Have you tested, or do you know of, a biodegradable option for camping? Safe for rivers or seas? I’m camping and want to safely shower outside. Are bars a good option I wondering?
Thank you for any advice.
Ohhhh I haven’t checked on the camping front, I’m the worst camper ever so prob not your best advisor on that. But ask the brand for sure, they’re super responsive on social! Also, I usually keep bars outside of the shower if there’s space or in a closed container with slats on the bottom a la Ethique- seems to keep the melting at bay. 💜 Paint your hair with them. If that doesn’t work, suds between your hands and work into absolutely saturated hair. If it’s not wet enough, it’s a struggle.
I’ve been using Kitsch since mid of November 2023,the same shampoo bar and conditioner and I still have enough shampoo for another month and conditioner looks like won’t run out for another year 😅 I don’t understand how people use it if they run out their conditioner bar this soon?
Glad it’s lasting for you!
What do you think about Humby Organics? I've been looking at them but haven't ordered yet.
I just heard about them recently, but haven’t tried yet!
Would you ever try tallow shampoo? I’ve been looking at the Stone & Spear one but I’m scared
Hahaha I’m not sure. I’ll look into it!
Ethique is great! I have thick hair but have a super oily scalp. I go between their Sweet n Spicy for volume and regular washing, and then their St. Clemens for clarifying every few washes. It works great! Never have or want to try a conditioner bar, too afraid of a waxy build up. I just use a deep conditioner every wash as my ends are super tangly and dry.
Thanks for sharing! Ethique just sent over some samples for me to test out 💜💜💜
Could you try Humby Organic shampoo bars
I’ll take a look. Thanks!
Old trick for clarifying hair is soaking your scalp and hair in a water, apple cider vinegar and baking soda mushy paste. I haven’t tried bar soap shampoo because no one I know has had a long term good result. So discouraging. And what is up with the prices?? Great big eye roll with the prices. Thank you for all your efforts. Special hello to beautiful Blue! 💐
Thanks for the tip!
Try Ethique! They are soap free and ph balanced so they don't leave any build up on the hair. I use their Volumizing one and then every few washes I use their Clarifying bar to reset my hair.
@@priscillanieto3322 Thank you for your comment! Soap free, ph balanced and doesn’t build up? Sounds too good to be true but sign me up ! I will definitely give it a try. Thanks again for your message. It was nice of you to take the time for me. 💐
I found this because I was looking up the Kitsch rice and water bar. I've used a local shampoo bar for a long time, but I don't like the results, so I tried the kitsch bar. I'm totally let down. I'm also in contact with their customer service because the bar is cracking and full of a gross white residue. I keep it out of the shower, too, on a soap dish with a soap saver. I definitely won't buy it again. And, my hair is your length too. The bar definitely isn't 100 washes.
Thanks for sharing. Sorry it didn’t work for you
I use homemade goatmilk poo bars from Etsy
oh nice!
