Hello and good morning RVA Hiker Girl, so sorry we missed the premier, we had crashed out this side of the pond! Still a welcome treat to join you this morning, what a fantastic video, the tree are immense! You and Kat would have a field day, or a forest day! Cracking camp, we to always carry our water too, luckily no bears over here! Thanks for the video and sharing your trip with is, have a great week, Ceri and Kat ♥️☕🏕🌲🌳
Good morning back at ya! Glad you stopped by this morning to take a look at my latest. Appreciate ya! Sent you an Insta message fyi about a possible mini collab if you're interested.
We enjoyed watching your Caledon SP primitive camping adventure! We are so glad we found your channel - we have lots on interesting videos here to get caught up on! We are new friends here and look forward to following your outdoor adventures! Have a wonderful day - take care. -Jody & Chris
Very cool that you saw a bald eagle on trail! Too funny with the chair on the beach! Nice to have State parks like this when they have campsites that off the beaten path. Cool to have privacy versus standard State Park campsites that can be super packed.
I’ve only seen 1 other bald eagle while hiking before so I was like a little kid tripping over every stick on the ground because I didn’t want to take my eyes off of him! I don’t do busy campgrounds I prefer the solitude of stealthing whenever possible. Thanks for checking out my video!
Ha ha be careful sitting down next time, i was waiting for you to fall out of your hammock as well lol 😆 What a beautiful place for a camping trip, great video all the best Chris 👍
JByrd is the one that falls out of hammocks and flips completely over. Ha Ha! I had put drift wood under the legs so it wouldn't sink in the sand and the chair slipped off. At least I had a soft landing in the sand!
Looks like some bautiful camping! We just recently started tent camping again and just love it!! We will definitely be coming along on more of your tent camping adventures! Thank you for coming over to our channel - we appreciate your support!! 😀💗
You are very welcome! I am back to the tent in my next video coming out this week. Hint Hint and I found a great swimming hole right next to camp! Tent camping is where I feel the happiest!
The shores of the Potomac look absolutely beautiful. That was a lovely sunset from your cool campsite in Caledon State Park. Sounds like it was great for seeing all that wildlife too😊 A great trip👍
Your videos are always such a nice, peaceful alternative to the high speed pushing I experience while running! I can't wait for cooler weather for camping!
Aww thank you so much DevRunner! So glad you enjoy my videos. I am used to pushing some high miles hiking but in this heat, a shorter hike to an awesome campsite was just perfect. I am with you on the cooler temps. Bring on the fall weather!
Really wonderful video. LOL, those chairs do the same thing when we try them in the sand in Hawaii! They need to have attachments so the feet don't dig into the sand. Patent, anyone? Nice sunset. Looks like some great camping where you can just relax and enjoy nature. I liked the pauses for sound -- that is a big part of the experience, that videos don't often capture well.
Helinox actually makes a sand guard for those chairs with a netting structure on the bottom. I was on a piece of driftwood and the chair slipped off sinking into the sand. It was pretty funny. Senior Hiker 77 has the netting and he said it works. (Just 1 more thing to carry right?) Thanks I do love music, but I like always making sure the true sounds of what is around me comes thru as well. Appreciate the watch. ~RVA~
Fantastic video! We really enjoyed watching, what a beautiful place, we would love to camp there. So much wildlife! And that 4 trunk tree was amazing! We will look forward to watching more of your videos😊🤟
Thank you OB's Outdoors! Love these primitive camping areas that the state parks have. Plan on going to another one soon. Appreciate you watching this one. ~RVA~

Sometimes I hate giving away my spots I find for fear they will get overcrowded. This is def one of them. My next video coming out is the same way. But I always have the pull to share with everyone these amazing places to be outdoors.
Hey, I actually grew up a few miles down the road from Caledon. It's a great little spot! Didn't know about any bears in the area, coyotes, opossums and raccoons everywhere though.
The park ranger said there was a recent bear sighting in the park so I don't take that lightly. I always hang my food bag. Keeps mice and squirrels from chewing a hole in your tent too, looking for food. Coyotes, really? I have never seen one in VA as much as I hike. Now I am intrigued. Their numbers must be low and they are probably pretty elusive.
Beach camp looked and sounded great and those feet looked real relaxed in that hammock! That was a lot of water to carry and I read in this weeks papers of a grizzly pulling out a woman from her tent and despite her friends shooting it away with bar spay, she did not make it - terrifying! Loved the sun setting over the water, what an awesome sight. I always take a table when I camp, so I can read in the dark and its nice and thin to pack too. Been reading about the hots temps you guys have been getting, I could not cope to be honest, anything over 70F would waste me, we are not used to anything more in the North of England, cheers Alan
Yes that story is tragic, however those people kept their food bags with them in thier tents in grizzly country. Not smart at all! They took the food out the 1st time the bear came around. But the bear came back because it still smelled the food inside the tent. You shouldn’t even cook near your tent in Grizzly country. Grizzly bears are much different than black bears where I live. They are much bigger and more aggressive. I want to live and not teach bears that humans = food. I always take that seriously. Plus mice, chipmunks etc will tear through your tent trying to get your food too. I don’t want damaged gear or a visit from a mouse in the middle of the night. Thanks Alan for checking out my latest video!
I showed up late for the premiere was happy to say hello in real time, this was an awesome hike, so glad I came back to watch the whole video. Happy Hiking my friend.
Ha Ha thats right! The 3 up front are the best for water views but there is one in the back in front of this beautiful pine forest. The smell is incredible. Thats a great spot too!
Great campsite! I also sometimes sleep without the rainfly! 😁 Thanks for getting up early for is, even without the beautiful sunrise! All the best! Kaat
Sometimes I just need a relaxing camping trip to beat the hot temps out there. It's kinda miserable hiking long distances this time of the year in 95 degree weather. Awesome camping without the rainfly. Enjoy your weekend Kaat!
Looks like a great trip! I hope you flipped that poor turtle. I have only caught glimpses of bald eagles so far. I'd love to watch one. I love camping with the rain tarp off of the tent; it's bliss!
Hey stranger! Great to hear from you! The upside down turtle was dead - I think he prob got too far away from a water source and this heat did him in. 😞 We got luckily and spotted a bald eagle nest in a dead tree and that’s where the eagles were. They won’t let you get too close. But one of them flew from VA across the river to MD. Loved it!
Very nice and relaxing trip. I'm surprised it is considered primitive camping. Those camp sites looked pretty nice and developed. No matter, it was a beautiful area with lots of wildlife. Funny mishaps with the chair. Glad you didn't get hurt. Cool turtle and awesome sunrise. I would be having a sweat bath for sure with your humidity. Great trip. Have a great day.
I agree. I think they consider it primitive because you have to backpack or kayak in to it. No electricity or water. They put the pads out to lessen the damage done to the plants in the area for conservation purposes. Doesn't feel as primitive when you have a picnic table, but it is nice to sit and eat at. Thanks for watching, really appreciate your support.

The driver was really moving on that bumpy fire service road but I was sitting back pretty far and holding on with the other hand. We were very thankful for the ride on that super hot day. I had already hiked there 2 previous times so I had already put in those miles on foot.
I always carry bear spray and alot of times if I am doing a 1 night campout i eat before I hike and camp to avoid bringing food....I need to use my hammock more often..looks like it was a good time and that is good medicine!
I always bring food no matter how long of a hike I’m on. I always fear that I could get hurt or lost, so I always want to be prepared for those type of situations.
