Thanks, Monica! I fell in love with Holliday Lake immediately. It's gorgeous and I hope to get back there very soon. Thanks for your interest in Virginia Outdoor Adventures Podcast.
There were so many like that there! One of the many reasons to love that state park. It’s in an old growth forest that has been protected for a long time. There are so many huge multi trunk trees there. 💚
We have been in all day Boxing Day in the middle of Storm Bella in the UK, with heavy rain and gale force winds, so I really enjoyed seeing the sun and some great outdoors. Looked a real nice walk out in the woods and around the lake, it was real cool to learn that Richmond is the capital of Virginia, as we have a Norman market town called Richmond, about 15 miles away from us, which as founded in 1071 and a place I have been visiting since I was a kid. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, cheers Alan
Our Richmond was named after your town of Richmond. Actually a ton of things are. The James River was named in ode to King James etc. Virginia is were the 1st English colonist landed at Jamestown. Richmond isn’t that far up the river from there. Hope your weather improves soon so you can get back outdoors. I’m eager to get back on trail myself after the holiday hussle.
Looks like a great walk! 😁👍 Jessica sure knows a lot! I'll try to listen to our podcast! 😀 Maybe when I'm driving to another hike one of these days...😀 Happy holidays! Kaat
Yes, she does! My favorite way to listen to podcasts is on the way to my hikes on those long drives. It makes the time go by so much faster. I think you would really like the solo female kayaker guest that was on one of her episodes too, Donna Shaunasey. They talked about women being alone in nature and how people think we are nuts doing it. I believe Donna is in her 60's or 70's and she has no plans to stop going on her solo adventures.
@@RVAHikerGirl Hi, I have send you a mail to your mail address mentioned on your channel. Don't know if you check it often. 😀 Let me know what you think... ATB
Yes and the trees there! One of my most favorite places to hike to see all the huge trees since it's an old-growth forest. So many triple and quadruple trunked trees. Great place to kayak and car camp right on the water too. And evidently, it's also a great place to see a ton of different types of woodpeckers and eagles. An eagle flew right over my car when I got close to the park and I about ran off the road watching it.

Oh and Virginia was named after the virgin Queen Elizabeth I. Sorry if you happen to already know all of this. I’m a huge history lover!
