What a cool campsite! We don’t have tent pads in the UK 🇬🇧 so it’s been to me. Digging the Lanshan! You live in a beautiful area. So peaceful. Happy Hiking 🥾- Julia from the UK 🇬🇧
Only in the state parks do we have tent pads but on the Appalachian Trail and in the mountains the primitive and wild camping doesn’t have tent pads, Thank goodness! I prefer not having them. Thanks for stopping by, watching & commenting. I greatly appreciate ya!
Thanks for checking out my video. I know right, I love when you are just in the right spot at the right time to catch something magical like that spider winding up its prey.
I'm from RVA as well. This is my favorite VA state park to go paddle board. It's such a beautiful park to just relax and take in the water views. I just purchased my camping gear last summer after not camping for 30 years. Looking forward to camping here this upcoming summer. It's a great place to SUP because of the two creek options, as well as the Rappahannock if it's not too windy. I loved seeing the campsites at Brewers Point, I may have to consider backpacking. Currently I'm a car camper due to GI issues and needing a restroom nearby. I'm enjoying your videos immensely, especially since I've been to a number of the same places! Happy trails!
So happy you found my channel. If you happen to be on Instagram, I post even more over there. I love primitive camping at this park, as I never see anyone else when I am camping. There are like 4-5 campsites, but they never seem to be used. Caledon has a great prim camping area as well. Both on the water. I just got a paddleboard last year and looking forward to the warmer weather this year to get back out there on it. ~RVA!
Plenty of corn there to keep you going and you spoil us with not only one but two eagles, something that we do have in the UK but I have never seen one, as they are so rare. Nice to have the whole campsite to yourself and a camp and hammock with a river view, that's pretty cool. Must be honest and say, I never bought a drink on the prettiness of the can before but raspberry chocolate is right up my street! I think I would have had my cans cooling in the lake and I did like your dinner spot but wow 8.50 was a blast - what a view! It looked a fresh morning and we live close to the North Sea and even in mid summer a breeze that comes of there is absolutely baltic lol. Great camp, although, not that keen on the spiders and snakes........cheers Alan
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my latest video Alan! I've been pretty lucky at spotting eagles lately. But it's been at lesser-known places where there are no people. That's really the only way your gonna see them. I had thought about putting the cans in the lake to cool off. If I would have brought some cording with me to tie them up I would have. Otherwise, they would have sunk or got pulled away with the tide. Appreciate ya my UK friend!
We're pretty sure that any tent used to the advertised capacity ends up being a pretty tight fit. Pretty sure what they mean is how many dead bodies you could put in the tent without having to stack them like cord wood. Not a bad spot to spend the night here, and we love the look with the fairy lights. Really can't complain having a night out like that with nature.
Well said! I could never do a 1 person tent. It just isn't for me. My pack was heavy extra with additional water carry , wine and lights. But I didn't have to hike very far. Luxury over pain! No complaints here, loved my night there! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my video. Awfully nice of ya!
What a beautiful location. It is always nice to see wildlife included in people's You Tube camping videos too, especially the ospreys, one of my favourite birds. Best wishes, Chris
Ahh you picked a good one to watch Chris. Loved this solo camping trip. I have been fortunate lately on spotting bad eagles and their nests. I only really see them on the coast though and not too many in the mountains even by the rivers. Appreciate the watch and welcome to my UA-cam family!
Aww thanks so much! Glad your liking my videos! It’s great to hear from you! I know a ton of hikers with that tent. Everybody loves it. Just makes sure you seam seal it before you take it out.

The sceneries are breathtaking and you can’t ask for a better place for a solo camping! I loved the thick lush green forest, the corn 🌽 field, the rabbit and everything else! I would pay for anything to wake up in the morning and see the views like this! Amazing camping! Glad to connect with you!
Thanks so very much for all your kind comments! I was so lucky to have the whole place to myself. It’s not often I have a view like this to wake up to. Appreciate ya stopping by and checking out my channel.

Hi Mark, I am shocked I had it all to myself as well! But I am not complaining 1 bit. It was not long mileage hike this time around, but a shorter backpacking trip to beat the VA heat in July and still enjoy the outdoors.
Really nice hike and camping spot. Your views you had were just fantastic. I would had stayed in the hammock for a while too, just to peaceful. I am on the west coast, so your secret camping spot is safe with me. LOL

Peaceful solitude! So much fun! Couldn’t swim tho because there were so many jellyfish in the water. But that’s ok this last trip I just came back from I got to swim in the mountains in a beautiful river right below my campsite. Enjoy your Sunday Jenn⛰

Belle Isle is a fantastic park and highly underrated. Probably because its kind of out there in an out of the way part of Virginia, even though its not far at all from your area. I discovered the Northern Neck a number of years ago when work took me to both Tappahannock and then to Warsaw, so I was out there for several months during all seasons. I don't think there's a piece of public land anywhere I didn't go explore. Loved it out there, its a whole other part of Virginia. Belle Isle still stands out as one of my favorites. You're right though those flies are vicious. You must pray for wind out there, its about the only thing that will keep the bugs down LOL! Back in those days I used Tea Tree Oil a lot as a repellent but it had no effect on the flies. I tried everything. Believe it or not I found an insect repellent designed for kids at a Target store (had picked it up for my son) and one day I was out there on the NNK and had forgot to take my normal sprays and found that kids repellent laying in the truck so I used it and lo and behold the flies didn't mess with me at all. I forgot the name of it but if I see it again I'll remember the label, will have to take note of it if I see it. Anyway your video was excellent, loved the way you put the footage together with the music and your commentary. That is a great campsite and awesome that you had it all to yourself. Its a little unfortunate that housing development is so close and easily visible but there are plenty of views in the other directions. By the way, we usually harvest most corn in July in Virginia so there's a good chance you could have found an ear ready to eat lol! I'll check out your ramen recipe vid. I usually just dump generous portions of hot sauce on mine haha!
I really love places like this that are underutilized. They are great for us outdoor lovers. I have heard others mention tea tree oil for mosquitos. I def prefer natural verses unnatural stuff but I think the only thing that would have helped that day is full body armour so those little hypodermic needles couldn't penetrate. I have seen some other ppl wear those mosquito jackets, but man I don't know what's worse burning up in one of those or getting eaten alive by the little vampires. Oh and I grew up on a big farm in Powhatan when I was a kid and we grew all kinds of crops including corn. Those ears were teeny tiny, they must have been planted late. Thanks for your comments and views as always I appreciate ya!
Another nice relaxing trip. It is always great to have these spots to yourself. Awesome to see and hear the birds and wildlife too. Beautiful view from your camp! Awesome. Take care.

Beautiful park, location, and footage! That sunset! Thoroughly enjoying your videos. I will look to do this one in the late fall when the bugs go to sleep. Thanks for the share. 🙂
Thanks so much, appreciate your kind words. Good idea to do it when ever there are less bugs! I came home with about 30 bites on the backs of my arms and legs.

Aww thank you so much for your kind words. All my vids are different depending on where I am, what's going on, and especially how I feeling on that particular day. Appreciate you taking the time to watch. ~RVA~
Good afternoon RVA, loved this one from start to finish! The giant corn fields, the wasp spider too, we get a similar looking one over here too, normally on long grass and near water ♥️🕷 lots of other wildlife around the area too, what a treat! 🏕 Loved the look of you picth and the campsite, really nice. Loved the breaking of the waves on the shore, such a relaxing noise 🌊☕ the Lanshan is a very popular tent across the world it would seem, great bit of kit! Kat loved the custom Crocs too, so cool! 🍷🍷🍾♥️🍫 could have popped your tinnies in the lake for some coolness maybe 🤗 Loved you noodles, made us hungry over here, look forward to seeing more on them! What a stunning sunset too, picture perfection 🌅♥️🐸 So pleased you had the place all to yourself too, stunning 😀 Breakfast looked blissful, aaaah just lovely 🤗 and what a peaceful way to start any day, with Osprey too, brillaint! We have a nesting site not yo far away from is at RSPB Arne, trying to encourage breeding pairs over here atm 🦅🦅🥰 Smashing video RVA, enjoyed this one from start to finish 🌻🐇 stunning walk out too. Have a great day, Ceri and Kat ☕👍 big thumbs up! 🥰
I think it’s perfect for beginners or long time backpackers. It’s just a great quiet spot anyone can enjoy. The water views and solitude can’t be beat! Thanks for watching Brian C.
Great Video. Your going to get SR John all excited about that Ramen recipe. Love the band Little Big Town. Pretty sure I would hate that Rose. Pinot Noir guy here lol. On the road here watching my favorite UA-cam channels. 👍👍✌️
Aww your watching from the road and I am responding to comments on the road. I’m down in North Carolina for 2 days hiking and camping. I love all kinds of wine. It just depends on my mood. My NC video will feature a yummy cocktail that so love, so stay tuned for that!
I do time lapses from time to time. I did one for setting up my tent for this one. Other times I do sunrises and sunsets. I try to vary it up from video to video. I’m impatient for long time lapses, ha ha!
That looks like a fantastic place to spend a day or week at. Great job capturing that gorgeous sunset. I will definitely be checking the next video for the Ramen recipe. When I lived in China I came across some crazy tasting varieties. Many of which I miss to this day. Carpe Diem.🤙😎
Thanks a bunch for watching and your comments. My ramen isn't anything fancy. Just a quick budget-friendly variation of ramen adding a little extra nutrition to this hiking staple.

Great video! Love hiking and camping solo! No other feeling like it. Where did you get your Lanshan Pro 2? Cool how you spice up your Ramen. Kinda like Senior Hiker 77 lapoke ramen.
Thanks a bunch Metro! I don’t have the pro just the Lanshan 2. SH77 is the only person I know that has the pro. I got it 2 years ago off Amazon. It’s a double wall tent. It’s basically the budget duplex.
@@RVAHikerGirl very cool! Senior hiker 77 loves his Lanshan Pro and is his go to. Looking at new tents because my Big Agnes Fly Creek UL1 is a little tight. Great tent just a little small for weekend camps.
Great video! We have been to Belle Isle a few times. I wasn't aware the primitive sites were so nice. We will have to check those out next time. Are those the canoe-in sites?
Appreciate it! Yes you can canoe or hike to these and there’s an honor pay box down there. I think it’s like $18 a night. Def go down there and check them out. I get the feeling they aren’t used often.
You can hike anywhere in the park, you don’t have to hike to the primitive camp ground. There are trails with and without water views there. 1 awesome place
Not there! There were a ton of jellyfish in them there waters! Otherwise I would have loved a VA Refresh! Maybe a land between the lakes refresh could be in the future though!

Another nice relaxing trip. It is always great to have these spots to yourself. Awesome to see and hear the birds and wildlife too. Beautiful view from your camp! Awesome. Take care.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Hey let me know if you want to exchange stickers? I believe I’ve seen yours on SH77’s hat right? My email is in my about page, shoot me your addy. ~RVA~
@@RVAHikerGirl I'd be happy to exchange stickers. Senior was wearing mine on his hat brim. Pretty cool. I'll send you an email. Thanks.
@@Packsalot thought so! Awesome!
Beautiful video
Thank you for watching & commenting!
Very well done! Such an amazing spot to yourself. Fun to see someone who is clearly very good at this. A 2 can cheers to better sleep! :)
It worked! I did sleep better after those 2 cans! 🙌🏼
@@RVAHikerGirl Yay!!
Also loving the tent and crocs (they are sooo cool!) and the cans look really great too! Wish we could camp together!! Xx
Wouldn't that be so much fun?? If you fly across the ocean, give me a buzz! I'd backpack with you anytime!
@@RVAHikerGirl would definitely let you know!!! Xx
Love the crocs! And man I think i'm just going to have to find out what the Lanshan is all about! Great video RVA!
It’s a great tent! Love it! Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
@@RVAHikerGirl Always!
This was lovely. Hearing your excitement about the trip and sights adds to the experience for us viewers too. Thank you so much!
Aww thanks SuzTube! That really means so lot! I love being outside there! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! ✌🏼~RVA~
You create a really high quality video that is informative and engaging! We are hooked! You definitely gave us the feeling of a relaxing overnight. Beautiful scenery, sunset, a little wine, so nice.
Aww thank you so much for your kind words. All my vids are different depending on where I am, what's going on, and especially how I feeling on that particular day. Appreciate you taking the time to watch. ~RVA~
Lovely and interesting video. Really enjoyed watching and subbed you. Thanks Steve 👍
Thank you Steve for watching and a BIG 👍🏼for subbing! Greatly appreciate it!
Good afternoon RVA, loved this one from start to finish! The giant corn fields, the wasp spider too, we get a similar looking one over here too, normally on long grass and near water ♥️🕷 lots of other wildlife around the area too, what a treat! 🏕
Loved the look of you picth and the campsite, really nice. Loved the breaking of the waves on the shore, such a relaxing noise 🌊☕
the Lanshan is a very popular tent across the world it would seem, great bit of kit! Kat loved the custom Crocs too, so cool! 🍷🍷🍾♥️🍫 could have popped your tinnies in the lake for some coolness maybe 🤗
Loved you noodles, made us hungry over here, look forward to seeing more on them!
What a stunning sunset too, picture perfection 🌅♥️🐸
So pleased you had the place all to yourself too, stunning 😀
Breakfast looked blissful, aaaah just lovely 🤗 and what a peaceful way to start any day, with Osprey too, brillaint! We have a nesting site not yo far away from is at RSPB Arne, trying to encourage breeding pairs over here atm 🦅🦅🥰
Smashing video RVA, enjoyed this one from start to finish 🌻🐇 stunning walk out too. Have a great day, Ceri and Kat ☕👍 big thumbs up! 🥰
Ya’ll both are just so kind! Thank you for all of your wonderful comments. Loved having the quietness to watch all the wildlife. Love my Lanshan!
I was there about a year ago, pretty nice spot. Perfect for beginers
I think it’s perfect for beginners or long time backpackers. It’s just a great quiet spot anyone can enjoy. The water views and solitude can’t be beat! Thanks for watching Brian C.
@@RVAHikerGirl I agree. I'll probably head back when the weather breaks
Awesome adventure nice edit.
Aww thanks, your kind words are very much appreciated.
Looked like a nice overnight... I tried to get a time lapse of a sunset last night but the clouds rolled in and obscured the sun completely.
I need to try that campsite out
Definitely! Loved it down by the water.
Cool video. I love your necklace😍

Omg that spider!
I know right. They are huge spiders. Really cool from a distance. I was definitely zoomed in for those shots. Thanks for stopping by and watching Lezley
wow..you are the best hiker girl my dear friend👌👏👏did you do the camping alone or with your team?? i really enjoyed your adventure😄thumbs up👍and i'm now a new subscriber on your channel👏👏greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩
You must have my channel confused with the big really big UA-camrs, ha ha. I am just small potatoes. I was alone on this solo backpacking trip. I was the backpacker, the camerman, and the creator and editor of this video. Happy to have you as a new subscriber. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@MetroOnTheMove I bet its tight. I need space, I don't think I could survive in a 1 person tent. Let us know what you decide on getting.
@@RVAHikerGirl Will do! Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks you for uploading nice video. Your channel is amazing and beautiful. A new friend.
Thanks a bunch for checking out my channel and my latest video.
I get the feeling they aren’t used often.
very nice! love the shoes haha! what book are you reading?
Thanks girl! It’s about a girl growing up in West Virginia ( where my mana was from) It’s called Shiner by Amy Jo Burns.,
Do you have to hike to the primitive camp area?
You can hike anywhere in the park, you don’t have to hike to the primitive camp ground. There are trails with and without water views there. 1 awesome place
No Virginia refresh?
Not there! There were a ton of jellyfish in them there waters! Otherwise I would have loved a VA Refresh! Maybe a land between the lakes refresh could be in the future though!

Hi new to your channel great video and footage well done thanks for sharing big thumbs up from me and new subscriber here cheers
Fabulous! Welcome to my channel! So happy to have you. Thanks for taking the time to check out my latest video!
How many poles to hold up the tent?
2, 1 for each side. Hope that helps!
Wahts the Tent?
It’s a Lanshan 2 tent. ~RVA~
Are these the Brewers Campground sites? Thanks!
Yes they are! Love it out there. This is the 2nd time I've been out there and there was not another soul around. ~RVA~
Any toilet facilities out there? I’ve hiked out there a couple times from the main campground but can’t remember
@@JasonWicklund nope, it’s primitive - no facilities
@@RVAHikerGirl dang it! That’s a hike to the bathhouse lol
