The hooligan bike. Just picked up an 05 ( 04, 05 & 06 previous) and can tell you the most demanding yet rewarding bike. I’m 51 now and don’t ride nearly as aggressive as I used to but I can tell you unequivocally, the Gen 1 are ferocious. One must respect this bike like any other bike whether it 100cc or 1000cc. Been riding since 85 and I still say a prayer before I sling my leg over my ZX-10. Gotta love effortless power wheelies in 3rd gear!

After about 5 minutes of riding up and down our street I noticed that my hands were tired from holding on so tightly :) I'll be practicing the fine art of not killing myself every time I get on this suicide machine. Reliability engine issues of kawi has always been a haters talk. I have an 07 54k miles rides like day one before had an 04 sold the babe with 62k miles could eat gixxers k5s and k7s for bfast. Kawis 04 till 10 gen 1-2-3 were the Most raw and powerful 1000s ever produced before emissions world and europe restrictions controls kicked in . Beautiful bikes

1st gear is long, 90-104 MPH, top speed, ever gear after is short and meant to keep it in the powerband, the bike was made to race, it even has a lap timer on the dash. and for the ass sliding off the back.. yeah that seat sucks for grip, wait till you rip the throttle 100% @ anything above 6K, it will try to slide you off the seat and rip your arms off at the sockets. anything below 6/7K, it's a pussy cat.
I have a ZX14 and I noticed once I got to 8000 rpms it felt more like the bike was leaving me behind rather then my ass sliding backwards lol. Now I just squeeze my kneez into the tank tuck my elbows in and go like fuck.😎😎😎😎😎😎
I have an 05 also green 48k on the clock and yes they are quite a machine definitely not for the novice.have had one good scare on it when i first got it had the gas wide open in top gear hit the brow of a small rise at 125 mph and it it stood straight up pointing to the sky, yep definitely have to have some respect for an 05 ten!

Same as mine, except I have factory optional Akra can on it. I must say mine sounds better, and revs nicer as well. Makes me think there must be wrong tune or, no tune on it given different exhaust. Mirrors suck that's right. Hearing it rev makes me want to hop on mine and go for a rip, but here up north in Canada, I have to wait another 4 months to even consider it tho :( I moved on from Ninja 250r, and my thoughts were the same! Holy Fu.., this thing is nuts! LOL! In town, I only use up to 5% throttle and still fear getting caught speeding. This machine picks up speed on 1% of throttle in a mind boggling way. No F way I am selling mine any time soon, possibly ever.
Haha I have an R6 throttle tube on mine. Its a 1/6th of a circle turn instead of stock 1/4. Used to think it was too agressive. I think I have gotten used to it now. Gotta love the zx10r gen1
@@bacchusthompson5834 I don't believe you bud. If our 160bhp machines wheelie off the power in 4th then the bikes used in bsb/wsbk will be absolutely uncontrollable. They are well over 220whp with no electronic aids. There are loads of acceleration/topspeed videos on UA-cam including newer zx10's, s1000rr etc and they barely lift in 3rd just rolling on the power
This vid is actually great though, I recently started riding an '05 zx10r too and I had that same 'no, no, wtf' reaction when I cracked the throttle a bit, the amount of power just feels totally twisted
Steering Damper is the first Mod you should do... The front of the Gen. 1 is VERY LIGHT, the Gen. 1's are eminent amongst liter bikes for the "Death Wobble"
@@mustknowinfo2001 with a Steering Damper, it's easily corrected. Gen. 1's are known to carry the front wheel in almost any gear. I used the OEM Ohlins Damper from the '06 - '07 ZX10R, had it reworked, and mounted it with the Harris Steering Damper Kit... Problem solved
