I'm 53 and it's so funny when some of these young reactionists don't know artist or songs that I think are common place that everyone knows. I guess I'm getting old!!
This is about his soul-mate, his wife Linda, helped him when the Beatles broke up. He'd been with those guys for years, since he was young, and they went through life changing experiences together, something no one except the 4 of them could understand. So when they broke up, it hit him really hard. Linda helped him get through it. He made this solo album then created his band Wings, in which Linda was a member. They have a ton of great hits, were very popular.
Paul was one of the members of the most famous band in the world in the 60s. He wrote this song for his wife, Linda, who passed away in the 90s. He wrote so many songs, I've lost count.
Paul McCartney is a Beatle, one of the most influential, genre defining, breaking, redefining bands of all time. Of. All. Time. This song came after his years with the Beatles. Explore the Beatles. Go deeeep. Integral to a popular music explorer!
I thought he had done some Beatles reactions but I didn’t find any. Hard to believe how many young adults don’t recognize John, Paul, George, or Ringo. It makes me feel old but it is fun to watch them hear and appreciate music that I grew up with. Just wait until he gets around to The Beatles. I loved your comment, by the way. You said what I (and countless others, I’m sure) thought and felt when he said he’d “never heard of this artist before.”
If you've never heard of Paul, you might have heard of this little band he was lead singer of... The Beatles? Have you heard of them? (just teasing, Shon, but that did just about killed me) I saw him in concert about 5 years ago, he was in his 70s, and he rocked the house for two hours without a break! Then for the encore he had the remaining members of Nirvana do a couple of songs with him. Amazing night!
@@karmicscope5259 well, if you want to get technical about it, John and Paul led almost the exact same number of songs. I wasn’t trying to explain who John was, just Paul.
@@karmicscope5259 No, John and Paul sang about the same number of songs. They were all identifiable by the instruments they played as all four of them were lead singers. John played Rhythm Guitar, Paul played Bass, George was the Lead Guitarist and Ringo played Drums.
Saw him here in NY......he set the Barclay Center on FIRE. And the crowd was insane the whole time, as he played non-stop hits. Yeah.....he's definitely heard of Paul McCartney.
Heads up: "Baby I'm a lonely man that's in the middle of something that he really doesn't understand..." The thing he was in the middle of, that he didn't understand, was the break up of his previous band, The Beatles. Also, he played all the instruments. Drums, guitar, bass, piano, etc... all of it.
With the exception of Linda singing some of the background vocals, Paul plays all of the instruments and sings all of the vocals. He recorded and mixed all of this on a 4 track machine at his country farm in Scotland in 1969 and 70.
I will always stop what I'm doing to hear this song! So glad you loved the introduction to this stellar musician. You have so much to discover in Paul, and his little band The Beatles! Oh, and the love story touched on here is one for the ages...
Love all of Paul's work with the Beatles & solo with Wings. I had so many of his records. He has so many great songs such as "Band On The Run", "Jet", "Live & Let Die", "Listen To What The Man Said", "Silly Love Songs", "Let 'Em In", "My Love", "Helen Wheels", "Let Me Roll It", "Junior's Farm", "Venus & Mars/Rock Show", "Mull Of Kintyre", "With A Little Luck" etc.
You're right man I love feeling the music yep feeling the passion these artists put in it you know that's Paul McCartney from the Beatles man He's Still rocking today
The woman in the pictures is his wife, and mother of the children, Linda Eastman McCartney. Linda passed away in 1998, so you can see what a beautiful tribute this was. Paul wrote this songback in 1969, as the Beatles, the group he helped create, was coming apart. He went on to form the band Wings, which Linda was part of, as keyboardist. Perfect reaction Shon, you did not disappoint!! ❤
OMG dude, ok Paul Mcartney was in the greatest most influential band in the entire 20th century! The Beatles. The woman in the photos and whom the song is written for was his first wife Linda, photographer, member of Wings, animal rights activist, cookbook author and the love of his life. She died of breast cancer in 1998. They would go on to have two more,Stella and James. All grown up now,Heather is 60,Mary is 54,Stella is 52, and James is 46
It's fascinating to see how someone who doesn't know who Paul McCartney is reacts to one of his solo songs! And as someone else says, it really *is* a solo record, with Paul playing all the instruments and producing, with just his wife Linda (the woman who's the inspiration for the song) adding some backing vocals.
One of the most famous musicians in history. A prime Beatle, leader of Wings, solo artist with countless Top 40 hits, has cut records with everyone from Nirvana to Michael Jackson to Kanye West.
Always great to see your reactions, Shon! I don’t think he sings “afraid of the way I leave you,” but “afraid of the way I need you.” To me, this is one of Paul McCartney’s very best. Thanks again!
He sings BOTH those lines. When he sings I'm afraid of the way I leave you, he just means he doesn't like to be apart from her, which never really happened except for those 9 days in Japan when he was busted for pot. But he wrote that song in '70 when the Beatles broke up and that was when he was in his very deep depression over the break up, and Linda managed to pull him out it eventually. So at that point, he was afraid if he had to "leave" her (not in a way of getting out of their marriage) but just never having her nearby. That is why when she encouraged him to go on with his music, that just because the Beatles were over, it didn't mean he had to stop. He was only 28 when the Beatles broke up. SO when he decided to form another band (WINGS) he wanted her to BE in the band, taught her how to play keyboards, and she sang back ups. SO when they went on tour with Wings, she was always with him on that tour, and not left at home for months waiting for him. In fact, they ALWAYS took their CHILDREN WITH THEM, when the band went on tour. They were TRUE soul mates, If Linda hadn't died from breast cancer (the same disease that took Paul's mother's (Mary) life when Paul was 14), they would have STILL been together today. They married on March 12, 1969.
This is Paul McCartney a member of the Beatles who recorded this song on his first solo album as the Beatles were breaking up! By the way he played all of the instruments on this album including guitars, keyboards, bass and drums!
You need to start your Beatles journey! Paul McNartney was one of the members of the Beatles and is regarded at the greatest song writer of our time. Really enjoy your reaction vidoes!!!!
Paul is totally underrated as a guitarist. He's actually pretty fantastic on a six string even though he plays bass most of the time. I suggest "No More Lonely Nights" as a follow up McCartney song. It's a personal favorite of mine.
I've really got to sit my grandkids down and tell them about Paul and his friends and how they changed music. I'd hate for them to grow up and not at least have a small introduction and in later yrs say oh yeah these are the guys Grammy told me about.
OF COURSE you've heard of Paul McCartney, he was in the BEATLES. He co-wrote most of their hits, sang lead on a lot of them, played bass. This song came out just after the Beatles broke up, and it was about his wife. Actually....it hurts, looking at these pics; Paul's wife Linda was taken far too soon.
Hey with such a clean slate knowing so little about the Beatles, there's an opportunity to do what no other reactors do: go through the Beatles experience in order. Not every song or every album, obviously, but what if someone did two or three early Beatles songs, three or four middle Beatles era songs, and then four or five later Beatles songs? Then hit two songs from each as a solo artist. After that, the experience would have been had that avoids jumping around in times and styles, a little bit more like how people experienced their evolution in real time. Then they could just jump around as they please after that. I'd certainly be willing to suggest which songs from each era would give the best experience. :)
He could still do all the songs on each album and the singles, other reactors have been doing it and they loved every minute of it. He can space them out while he reacts to other artists and types of music.
Check it "Let It Be" from The Beatles. Paul wrote so many of The Beatles' songs. The most influential band of all time, no question. "The Long and Winding Road", "Don't Let Me Down", and "Help!" will be a decent enough intro, but this comment would be 10 times as long if I was to list songs to cover all of their styles.
I'm sure you've heard of The Beatles he was pretty much the main singer they arrived in America in the early sixties when the Beatles were done he started Paul McCartney and Wings keep opening your mind to new music it is the international language One Love
Two good films I would recommend for you and all Beatles newbees. 1964's A Hard Days Night which is a fun watch that features much of their early music as well as a snapshot of what their lives were like from 1962 through 1966. The second is a documentary called How The Beatles Changed the World. I learned a lot from it and I've been a Beatles freak since I was four and saw them on their first American TV appearance on Feb 1964. It puts many things into perspective I was too young to understand. But then again, there's no wrong way to explore The Beatles.
Sir Paul McCartney is among the best of the best and I suspect you've heard some of his songs. He hit the music scene worldwide way back in 1962/'63 with perhaps the most influential group ever as far as pop/rock go, 'The Beatles'. 'Paul McCartney', John Lennon', George Harrison' and 'Ringo Star' developed their chops playing the Hamburg bar circuit. 8 hour days, 7 days a week for years, they were accomplished musicians when they finally were discovered in 1962. They were only together for 7 years and they released 13 amazing albums in that time. Almost every single one of the tracks on those albums were amazing! No other band comes close! IMHO. One of the biggest bands the world has ever seen. - 19 No. 1 albums on the chart - 7 Grammys including best new artist, best performance by a vocal group for ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and album of the year for ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.’ My Spotify has 148 Beatles song to take my #1 spot. 2nd is way behind with 'Sir Elton John' with 78 songs on my playlist. All 'The Beatles' had great solo carreers as well and you'll need to check out them all, this maybe the biggest rabbit hole you've had doing these reactions Shon. "Maybe I'm Amazed" was released on his 1970 debut solo album 'McCartney'. Check out 'Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey' from his 2nd solo album. He then forms the band 'Wings' in 1971. 7 Studio Albums and 2 Live ones. Check out 'Band On The Run' to get started with Paul McCartney and Wings. The rest of the boys and a a few starting options for each... George Harrison - 'My Sweet Lord' or 'Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)' John Lennon - 'Imagine', 'Watching The Wheels' or 'Mind Games'. Ringo Star - 'It Don't Come Easy' or 'Photograph' Enjoy! Cheers.

Shon, I've been a fan and a subscriber of yours for a while now...but are you really telling me that you've never heard of Paul McCartney?? Like, seriously...one of the MOST FAMOUS musicians in the modern world, and you've never heard of him?
No, Paul, John , George and Ringo ALL sang leads. It wasn't just ONE of them singing lead on every song they ever did, like it is with some groups. John and Paul sang leads together or individually and usually whoever sang lead, was the one that wrote MOST or all of that particular song. THEY ALL composed songs, with Lennon and McCartney being the main song writers at first, with George soon writing songs too. Ringo also wrote a couple of their songs as well.
Lol, cmon shon, he and John Lennon are your two main singers for the Beatles, but you knew that and forgot.😂Glad that you got to check it out; he’s amazing!💖
Okay Shon, I was shocked you'd never heard of The Beatles. They're a 60's British group from England and took the world by storm. And I mean the world. I personally feel like they were a transition group from classic rock to other genres.
That was Paul's first wife, Linda, in the video. The wild thing is that I actually personally knew his current wife. I used to spend time with her when she was married to her ex husband, who my boyfriend, at the time, was very close with. So we spent time at their homes with them. I broke up with him. But if I didn't, I'd be hanging around Paul Mccartney these days. I know my ex is. Oh well. 😂🤷🏼♀️
You are listening to Paul McCartney of The Beatles. Then wings and a a solo career. This man is a genius and if you have not listened start with the Beatles. The first albums few years are great. but true to the era. Saying that there was nothing like the Beatles before the Beatles. And you can google all the reasons why. When you get to Rubber Soul going forward it's absolutely amazing after the Beatles split up they had super solo careers. After a rough start because of his depression and trying to find his own way after the Beatles Paul took the lead. At 81 he still touring to sold out capacity. Anyone who loves music should go through the Beatles catalogue and end their solo careers
And I forgot to mention he played all the instruments on this track. I think his wife Linda may be singing background and FYI Paul and Linda founded wings one of the number one bands in the 70s. They were married for almost 30 years had a wonderful family life and she died of breast cancer . They they have four children
My man just heard one of the greatest entertainers on earth, and didn’t even know it

THEY ALL composed songs, with Lennon and McCartney being the main song writers at first, with George soon writing songs too. Ringo also wrote a couple of their songs as well.
C'mon, man. jk. I love watching you discover music that is new to you. Keep up the good work.
I don't know if you can get this suggestion or not but can you please do who's on first Abbott Costello
🌸 one of the Beatles, baby!
Love your enthusiasm with your reactions.
I'm shocked!!!!😂
Lol, cmon shon, he and John Lennon are your two main singers for the Beatles, but you knew that and forgot.😂Glad that you got to check it out; he’s amazing!💖
I remember singing this in high school chorus class ❤
Shon! You never heard of Paul McCartney! From the Beatles?
This generation cracks me up.
So glad you reacted to this one!
Okay Shon, I was shocked you'd never heard of The Beatles. They're a 60's British group from England and took the world by storm. And I mean the world. I personally feel like they were a transition group from classic rock to other genres.
Your intellgent and thats a fact!!!!!!😊
That was Paul's first wife, Linda, in the video. The wild thing is that I actually personally knew his current wife. I used to spend time with her when she was married to her ex husband, who my boyfriend, at the time, was very close with. So we spent time at their homes with them. I broke up with him. But if I didn't, I'd be hanging around Paul Mccartney these days. I know my ex is. Oh well. 😂🤷🏼♀️
The love Paul had for his wife, Linda, was unparalleled. Unfortunately, Linda died in 1998 of breast cancer. She was a member of the band (Wings).
You would like the song "Say Say Say" by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson! Paul also collaborated with Stevie Wonder on the song "Ebony and Ivory".
Enjoy the ride you are going to explore and experience.
Incredible song! Music just can take me away from everything I need to get away from.
Lol nice never heard of Sir Paul you are in for a treat brother
It really shows how time is marching on. I think you're the first person I've ever heard say they did not know who Paul McCartney was.
And I forgot to mention he played all the instruments on this track. I think his wife Linda may be singing background and FYI Paul and Linda founded wings one of the number one bands in the 70s. They were married for almost 30 years had a wonderful family life and she died of breast cancer . They they have four children
Dope reaction! Love to see you react to U2 or /& ANNIE LENNOX !
❤❤❤
Being 2 generations removed, all I can say is welcome to McCartney. Grab your lunch box and lets get to work.😎🎸🎸🎸🎸.
Those are his children and wife, Check out wings.. all them. RIP Linda
Shon--Curiuos...have you heard of John Lennon? Serious question.
