My friend sent me this link not realizing you are in my old home town. This is all that is awesome about Homer! The boat is fantastic. And your attitude is even better - make it work, get it done with what’s on hand, and drink a beer with friends. Thanks for bringing a smile.
Nice job on the boat, looks great....I am thinking about building one and wonder if you could do it all over again would you build another one? Thanks for your time
Really nice little trailer sailer, I particularly like the way you've constructed the mast, it's a real thing of beauty when looked at end on. Using lead in place of water ballast certainly saved a lot of cockpit space, though I have a suspicion that not steaming the parts as suggested will turn out to have been inadvisable.
Great little boats , Looks like it could hold a growing family ... lol. Starting to sound like your mother .... lol. Just have fun the scamp is a great boat and it waited a couple of years for you to take it sailing .
Never had a first LIKE. Great sailboat. Build it , Sail it, a lot of pride doing this, Love the PT 11, kit, might try it one day. I guess mostly a sail and camp.
Heyyy I love the channel,I just bought sold everything I owned to buy a sailboat to start sailing around the world :) thanks for the inspiration, just made my first UA-cam video hahaha
Please give more information on the puzzle jig. I have searched hi and low for this. Did you draw the pattern? If so, what did you use, sketch-up, or? Wonderful video.............
Nice SCAMP; I like that you went with lead rather than water ballast. Welsford packs a lot into a very small space. I have looked longingly at his Penguin design but I am not sure that I care for the glued lapstrake construction that he uses. I saw photos of an aluminum SCAMP that somebody built and I have been tempted to do the same thing with a Penguin. Grew up in Cordova but currently living in Anchorage (most inaccurate town name ever), so anything I come up with has to be trailerable. Built a small stitch and glue pram last year but wanting something bigger that I can take out overnight with the family. Thanks for posting the boat tour.
Nice tour...I like your modifications. Watching this made me want to go back to the previous episode where you were camp/cruising with it in the snow....You could link it to this one :)
I think this is the video that I found your channel from. I'd been researching small boats to build the camp being on of them. Settled on the canoe Henry 21, a little bigger but similar construction. Nice looking boat guys? No wify click bait needed on this one.....
You've seen those tugboats that have a great big "mop" (?) on their bow to cushion themselves when pushing ships around, Right? One of those would look kind of neat on the bow of the boat; like the boat has a big ol' "beard" on it, just like those tugs have; Whaddya think of that?
good, in principle, but balance lug is very inefficient on one tack, so gaff or sprit rig deserves consideration.. or you might put some battens in the balance lug, as the chinese did. or just tilt the sail into a standing lug?.
Absolutely, we also have some older ones if you want to check those out 😉 Episode 14 - Sailing SCAMP to Thumb Cove ua-cam.com/video/xLos6uSPfNY/v-deo.html
Could you please design Philippine.banca... please. Im planning to make but i need inputs design with sail, 26 feet would fine. Thank you, nice boat scamp.
I know this is an old video, but considering your tendency to do stuff drunk without a plan, I figure you probably still don't know this: You can get lead weights from a forklift repair shop. They're used to counterbalance forklifts, cranes, backhoes, and other heavy equipment like that. It's a lot cheaper than melting down bullets. Probably a lot safer than melting lead. Carry on, sailor. Oh, and another option is pouring cement with some steel pipes in it for ballast and keel. The Vikings just used heavy stones, so I guess that works too.
Why does the wood look wet under the floor hatch? Looks like it has not been protected properly. Or is it just the quality of the video, which makes it look like that? Nice job though.
OK kids, when, where, what & why will there be a Real cruiser in your life? Your little boat is fine for short fair weather day sails but not much else! You can’t even do the Big Nasty in this without showing off everyone’s stuff!
😂 Don’t worry Paper Mate is just our weekend sailor. Our big boat is in Rio Dulce patiently waiting for us to finish up this work bull**** and start sailing!!
Beautiful workmanship on the little vessel, young man. Lessons to you when yours coming at you from Southern Oregon.

Well done you two. Made me laugh that you cut the tiller wrong after drinking, not the first person to do that. Love the mast.
Very well done . Awesome job as you say done by your wife on the sail
Wow . I am really impressed.
Hello from India !! I love the sailing culture. Over here it's all but lost.
Maybe you can be the one that changes all that.
Hope y'all enjoy sailing her, as much as, I enjoyed the video tour!
Thanks! We took her out to Thumb Cove in Seward, Alaska and had a great time. She’s a fun little sailor!
Nice job on the boat, looks great....I am thinking about building one and wonder if you could do it all over again would you build another one? Thanks for your time
Great little yacht! Would love to see her sailing.
You’re in luck! We just happen to have such a video! Episode 14 - Sailing SCAMP to Thumb Cove ua-cam.com/video/xLos6uSPfNY/v-deo.html
Having seen a fine introduction to your boat as a walkaround...I'm now ready to see it sail! Show us?
You are a talented guy Spencer. Really awesome job.
Thanks! 😊
Great build... Looking forward to seeing u 2 sail her!.. Glad to see u 2 doing well
We sailed her a while back if you want to check out that episode 😉 Episode 14 - Sailing SCAMP to Thumb Cove ua-cam.com/video/xLos6uSPfNY/v-deo.html

A good idea for making the jig for the puzzle joint. She is an attractive boat. I have seen a few vids now and they handle well too.
Yeah! She’s a great little sailor. Super fun

Great work.Thank you.
I wonder how it would sail without the ballast and with removable outriggers instead, aka trimaran.

Welded aly will work fine for a Penguin. Go for it.
@@jwboatdesigns Thanks for the reply! If I can wrap up a couple other projects, maybe I will decide I have it in me.
Love it, Following your adventures

Good tip!
Awesome job--you should be justly proud of her!

Nice Job bro , you didn"t use the CNC plywood from the Factory , imprssive Love the Mast Nice Job
Out of curiosity, what language where you speaking as I could not understand a word of what you where saying.
Great!
Nice work. Are you going to run the R2AK with her?
very nice yacht,,Best wishes and.............................Cheers .
Nice build. What kind of plywood did you use?
Spence used Marine plywood, seemed to work out ok 👍

or just tilt the sail into a standing lug?.
Beautiful boat! Given the price they typically sell for, I've thought of doing the same but suspect I lack the wood skills.
Yes, the list price for this is just insane.
Классная лодка! Спасибо за видео
Very nice little cruiser. Sailing videos next!
Absolutely, we also have some older ones if you want to check those out 😉 Episode 14 - Sailing SCAMP to Thumb Cove ua-cam.com/video/xLos6uSPfNY/v-deo.html

Go to an auto tire shop. They will probably give you a bucket full of old used lead weights used to balance tires.

Very cool, I'll be a bitch and steam mine but you've got me inspired to get started on it :)
😂
You will regret not stream bending. The wood ....
Basically that's 30 seconds per foot of boat...
Es un reportaje de tu persona, no del bote, que apenas se ve.
Lose the background music.
Imagine being that fucking triggered over some music.
Pickle is a fine Craftsman and smarter than shit!!!;
Perche' costruire giocattoli inutili? Perche' progetti antichi? Perché galleggiare a così bassa velocità?
Esatto
