I watched this video before buying my 49cc 4 stroke kit and 2 yrs later I’m still enjoying the bike with no issues. Well I did have to replace the stock carb because I left it outside in the winter months
I bought one of the blue wal mart bikes for that kit. Perfect fit. No chain tensioner. Upsized the main jet one level. Smooth 30 mph. Starts first or second pull every time.
Great informative video and demonstration. I was wondering which way was the closed position (Air blocked) and the open position (Inlet, air flows in) of the carburetor choke. Thank you for making and uploading this informative video.
That's what I thought those two hoses were for, but I wanted to be 100% sure, so it was nice to confirm what I believed to be true. I purchased a kit, but the engine kit was about 2 inches too tall to fit into my bike frame, so I ordered a different bike that will come within a week or so and it will be my first attempt of installing a gas-powered bike kit. The instruction "sheet" tells you what steps to take, but doesn't really tell you how to do them, plus the photos included didn't really help very much at all. However I was able to figure out everything on my own but wasn't 100% sure about those two tubes or hoses, and I was going to leave them hang down, and I had figured out that the bottom was where the fuel feed-line went. Once I get the engine kit installed on the bike, I'm going to need to figure how to let the longer tube on the Left hang down without hitting the chain, or get caught around the chain sprocket shaft or the sprocket itself.
So glad I found this video. Last video that I saw that was explaining the 142f 49cc motor completely got this all wrong I'm so glad HUGHES motorized did this lol I trust him more.
Hey Mr Hughs, what is the thick black hose going to the air cleaner from the block? I’m assuming it’s to recirculate the gases coming from the crankcase? Does it really need to go to the air cleaner or can I just let it breathe in the open? I’m wanting to build a different air cleaner for my bike.
yes.. it just a case breathe - some add longer hose and a xtra fuel filter on end pointing down so trash stay out! done! chainsaws got air filter .. fancy.. hides inside hose and gots like stack of fine metal screens ... alliexpress sales them 10x for like $3.. 45/ 60 day waits! :>)
I have been buying entire kits just because of inability to find the correct clutch, belt or problems with the transmission. Do you know where I can find the right replacement belt drive transmission setup or parts.
Hey Mr Hughs, what is the thick black hose going to the air cleaner? I’m assuming it is to burn off gases from the crankcase? Does it need to go to the air cleaner or can I let it breathe out in the open? I’m wanting to build a different air cleaner for my bike. Thanks!!!
Me again Mr Hughs…… Is there a fuel/air mixture screw underneath the brass plug on the carb? Been riding my bike for a month or so, and she’s down on power. Sometimes stalls at idle, and when I re-start it, it idles high for a few seconds. Changed my fuel filter, cleaned the carb and jet. It’s kind of weird…. Thanks!
On the exact same engine kit I bought, it ran fine, but the top speed of the engine moved the bicycle slower than I could pedal it without the engine. It may work on a small air compressor which I have with an electric motor. Was still a waste of time to put it all together on a bicycle.
Sorry to hear that. Same kit moved my 255lb butt 28mph. There are cheaper kits that have a sealed, chain drive transmission. Those are pure junk. You want the 49cc 4 stroker w/ a belt drive transmission
I need to swap my carburetor, do you think that upgrading to a Dell'Orto PHBG carburetor would be a fine idea? I can't acquire a stock carburetor cheaply, and the Dell'Orto is fully tuneable, it would be a considerable upgrade
Is a piece of crap carb, I can't get my engine to run without being on choke. I've adjusted the fuel needle and the throttle every wich way and it won't stay running. I bought a 2 stroke carb and it ran too rich, just like the original carb having to be stuck on choke. I'm about to give up and take a sledge hammer to my whole damn bike.
You have an intake leak somewhere. Could be in the case, the crank gaskets, the cylinder, the case gaskets or intake gasket. It's rare but sometimes you might have a crack or hole in engine case

Thanks so much. Videos have been very helpful, which make me wonder all of the possibilities that are possible! You’re the man!

Sounds great!

Nice video I just did a bike build with this engine and back tire spins while idling I'm going to test your tips and tricks out
Super stoked super informative since I’m going four stroke !
Glad to help!

Right 👍 on ordering my 49 soon
I’ve had to use duct tape to hold the cable for the throttle in place. Helps keep the throttle responsive to lowering the rpm’s.
Very helpful video Thanks
Thanks I appreciate the information!!

Go with a belted transmission. Those are best. Boygoesfast on eBay and Gasbike on parts. MBRebel.com was good but they are redoing their website
Man, a huge thanks for the video!

Vent for crankcase. You can run it to the new air filter or put an inline fuel filter on it like I do
@@HughesMotorized thanks…..since I made a boardtrack replica, I went and made an air filter out of a tuna can
Me again Mr Hughs……

Drain plug for carb bowl. Some carbs have fuel/air screw close to where carb mounts to engine. Some are blocked off
@@HughesMotorized correct. But is there a mixture screw under the brass plug?
Also brother u didn't mention what that black pipe is doing from filter to engine block
Very helpful tips thank you sir
Always welcome

Where is the little angle stop that the throttle hits wide open it appears to be missing did you take that off so it hop it up?
It's on there
What is the exact belt size? I need to buy a replacement and my broken one was thrown out.
Check your belt. Should have markings on it. 5G, 6G, 7G, 8G??
Try this: ebay.us/AXOYwK
Full synthetic shouldn't be an issue for these engines should it ?
No issue. Some have gone as lean as 100:1 ratios
What size spark plug to use
Can We Have Aftermarket Air Filter?
sure
I need to swap my carburetor, do you think that upgrading to a Dell'Orto PHBG carburetor would be a fine idea?
I can't acquire a stock carburetor cheaply, and the Dell'Orto is fully tuneable, it would be a considerable upgrade
Should work fine
Broke the fuel mixture screw :-/ where can I find another one of those tiny screws?
Time for a new carb. No one sells those screws that I'm aware of
@@HughesMotorized you can use a screw that fits and a pen spring
there are carburetor repair kits in which you can find those too ;)
@@V0ID_beats Please provide a link so others may find one
Welp, I’m ready to ride my four stroke. Idle speed too high currently
Looks like it’s still operable, just requires pliers

My motor only makes power with the choke on. Any fixes or ideas as to why this is happening?
I took all the metal shrouds off the cylinder for better cooling
