Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise Him all creatures here below, praise Him above ye heavenly hosts, praise Father, Son and Holy ghost!

A good Lutheran pastor knows how to help bring his listeners down to earth. Jesus is a very down-to-earth kind of guy.

At the risk of oversimplifying, l cant help but think that any king would make preparations for his entry into the city, but whereas caesar rides a splendid chariot and glorifies himself, Jesus the King of kings comes humbly into the city in His own Glory. No majestic animal or pomp or anything, but God Himself drawing all near to Him without social distinction or rank by virtue of Who He Is.
    All praise to God!

Thank you! I have always wanted to know and understand the background of how and why we do what we do in our liturgy.

I love my life here on earth, my family and friends, experiencing God’s creativity in everyday wonders (sunrise, snowfall, birds singing on my early morning walk, the beauty of flowers) but my heart nearly bursts with the thought of heaven, and I can’t wait. That is our Hope and Joy. We are forgiven and will be welcomed into heaven. To hear the angels sing in heaven. That is what hope in Christ is. Advent is time to get ready for Christmas, get ready for Jesus.

Hello, Pr. Wolfmueller. Which altar did the coal come from? My guess is it was the incense altar. Since it was a coal (upon which the incense was placed), and Isaiah was right there physically where the incense altar was it makes sense. That is just the physical aspect. The spiritual aspect: burning incense represents prayer. Isaiah had just bemoaned his unclean lips. Prayer is what crosses our lips, so to speak. When a pastor absolves our sin in private confession (and what a private confession session! With God Himself!), he is absolving what we have confessed. Isaiah had just confessed his sin - prayerlessness? Sin contaminated prayer? And that is exactly what God absolves. Just thinkin...

Thank you Rev W. This is wonderful teaching and it does serve to increase our joy as we hear the Sanctus and the account of the triumphal entry.

Can someone find the passage in Isaiah that Pastor Wolfmueller talks about when the veil between the Holy Place and the common area is pulled back? It’s certainly not in Isaiah 6 like Bryan said, and I can’t find it elsewhere in Isaiah.

Jack M I think Pr W is saying that whole chapter 6 is Isaiah seeing the heavenly things that one normally isn’t aware are happening.

Great video. Side question could you go into Luke 19:11 and why they thought this way? (They being the people of Jerusalem)

The Jewish people at the time were looking for someone to save them from the Romans ... not the Devil.

So it was a coincidence Jesus happened to be walking up on that day? Were the Jewish people outside waiting everyday or just that day? I never noticed this verse until I was reading the background or context for this video.

Why did Jesus be so intentional? Perhaps to show His resolve to do the will of His Father. Jesus was greatly troubled, yet He set His face like a flint and intentionally did that which He desired not to do.

Hey Pastor Wolfmueller! My guess is that Jesus worked so hard to prepare for this entry as a type and shadow for how hard he is preparing for his second advent. He even said himself that he is going to prepare many rooms, just like the bridegroom prepares the marriage home before he rides triumphantly to sweep up his bride.

I’d guess he meant it in the pop culture way, like wonderful, etc. But I agree not the best choice of words, what God does is better than magic! And has way better results! :)

I have such trouble letting the past go. Every time I see you I always get angry when I recall how Goeglein asked you a question during a bible quiz on ttr, but he cheated because it was from the APOCRYPHA. I am still p-o'ed. You are a decent person and it just makes me angry.
