Great review bud. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival of mine. Hoping it arrives before the end of June. It’ll be my first time dipping my toes into emulation any further than soft-modding my original Xbox so long ago I can’t even remember what I did. I’m guessing I’ll be shooting you some questions in the near future but I’ll try not to be too annoying as I’m sure you’re a busy guy. Thanks for posting this vid.
It's very nice. Sort of the DeLorean of the handheld world. With the flux capacitor. The shell is awesome! Definitely something for the tech minded that enjoy the fiddling. Great results for the effort. Thanks.
If you have a lot of roms in your list, you can use the shoulder buttons for page up/down. In the settings of the main menu (either the settings app or simply press start in the main menu) you can set the key repeat rate. That makes it rather quick to navigate. It could certainly use a way to tag favorites though.
I just got one as well. Thank you for the guide on how to use it. Did you happen to get a screen protector? I did not and am looking for one that will work with it.
Which version of the RG350M is the best to get? Some now have the included hdmi firmware and the "Tony" system...how does Tony defer from the previous version(is that the hdmi fix + others or ?). Some have 2500 games included and some show 28000 which I find hard to believe. Tetris is probably included with 27999 variations lol. Anyhow, if someone can point to the best/latest version of this device. I'd prefer to order from Amazon - some of them you can receive in 2 days after ordering. If you go through ALi Express or TomTop, etc.. it will take a while to receive and what if there's a hardware/cosmetic issue in which it needs to be returned? I had fast response/service/xchange with Amazon when my GPD+ hinge cracked - took 3 day turnaround for the new replacement. Thanks for the help!
hello my friend , please can you help me with my rg350m? i have put mame4all in the console i did some stuf from other videos and from yours video but i didnt make it!
Couple of thoughts I can share: - A lot of people have been saying they don't get why a 640x480 screen was used for the new device. What they don't realize is that these guys know their stuff when it comes to IPS panels. The IPS panel used in the RG-300 is one of (if not the) best in the industry for its size and resolution! The manufacturer tried to make a similarly good panel for the RG-350 while increasing the size. Unfortunately, the size and resolution combined to make a rather painful "screen door" effect caused by the pixels being further apart from each other. This lowered the brightness considerably and made it look pretty poor in comparison to other devices. The 350m fixes that by using the higher resolution 640x480 panel. Just double the pixels and you're back to the most amazing IPS panel in the industry! (Seriously. I find this one even more jaw dropping than when I saw the previous panel on the RS-97 Anniversary Edition!) - That's the PowKiddy mascot. Or as Wicked puts it, "the POOOOOOOOWWWWWW kiddy!" - The left-right skipping through the games list is a RetroFW thing. The RG-350 uses the older shoulder button paging solution. That's how RetroFW used to work until PingFlood decided to improve the system a bit. He changed the shoulder buttons to skip to the next letter in the alphabet and moved paging to the left-right controls. Little things like this are why I like RetroFW so much better as a software platform. Never the less, there is at least a solution in this case. Just use the shoulder buttons. :) - The NeoGeo emulator never had analog stick support. What happened is that older versions of the RG-350 defaulted to D-Pad emulation mode. Probably under the same theory that makes them put sticks into consoles that are hard wired as digital d-pads. (So stupid.) This caused a HUGE problem when the 350 came out. Everyone wanted to start using the new features, but you had to understand what was going on and know the right incantation to change the mode to use the analog sticks. IIRC, pressing Power+B will toggle the analog/digital modes and thus allow you to use the stick in GnGeo or FBA. - Speaking of GnGeo, if you want to play the shooter Ironclad, grab the GnGeo OPK off of the link on the RetroFW site. I made it a fat binary (or as one female OpenDignux developer decided to dub them, "thicc binaries") so it will work on OpenDingux. I cleaned up a few problems with GnGeo and added support for the game. It's still a long way from perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it. - Speaking of Ironclad, check the FBA directory of the card they send you. Mine weirdly already had Ironclad on it, even though none of the software supported it. Hmnm.... - I forget if ExFat support made it into the mainline yet or not. Next time you have a large SD card, try just plugging it in. It may work without having to reformat. RetroFW does have ExFat support since 2.1, so it will definitely work there.
I would LOVE to know why UA-cam blocked this comment.. I absolutely used ExFAT first and it did not work. Glad to hear It's going to be soon -- that would be great!
I wonder what's stopping someone from making a 2 watt dual core laptop in the form factor of a retro handheld? I imagine the minimum price be $100 for something this size and $200 for something the size of a switch light.
Hello I bought the console based on your review I tried to add two ps1 games and it would not allow me to play them fully. I downloaded the Soccer Pro Evolution 2000 and 2001 and when I open the ZIP file it gives me multiple bin files I added them to the PS folder inside the console and it will show till the start menu and then it won't work. What am I doing wrong?
It tends to prefer iso files, but along with the .bin files there should be a .cue file: See if running that helps. Also not 100% sure this matters but if you are running a bios file make sure it matches the region of the game you are running -- PAL or NTSC.
@@Retr0Rob i tried to run the cue file as you suggested. The game plays but cant see anything after I press start to begin. I think pro evolution is PAL. I purchased my Anbernic in United States. Is that make a difference?
@@truthbeyond3624 It may, see if you choose a different BIOS (the emulated one) or possibly SCPH7502 (not even sure that one runs with this emulator, I have not tested).
@@Retr0Rob okay I am downloding a new bios of the same game and see if it works out. One last question. I downloaded Ace Driver Victory Lap which is a old school NAMCO arcade game. I tried to open it in XMAME folder in ZIP but nothing happened and then unzipped the files and same issue. How can I run that game? What can I do?
@@truthbeyond3624 It's possible that it is not supported, BUT I generally don't use XMAME for anything but dual stick games because I think it's a big pain in the butt to use. I would go with Mame4All in most cases as it's way less monkeying around. Generally you should be able to keep Mame ROMs zipped..
@@magicvampirelver1321 It's actually a pretty big upgrade. The screen is WAAAAYYY nicer. Probably the best IPS screen I've ever seen in this size. Which is a huge improvement over the disappointment that was the original IPS panel. The thumbsticks have not only been moved around, but they also changed them out for the low-profile ones used on the Switch. It will help keep them from getting caught in your pocket. Finally, the aluminum case should not be underestimated. It's REALLY nice.
I have had my RG350M for a couple months great little system.

You know that is how black holes get started, right?
I wonder how long the HD version will take to show up!
as soon as they can't sell these...and want more money....'welcome
RG351 is apparently in the pipeline
Are you going to get an cabinet from Mega Cade?
If they ever send me one I would be super-surprised!
I got one of these back in July, love it only gripe I've had with it was getting GNGEO to run.

is the NES game nintendo world cup pre installed on this device?
what kind of HD cable did you use for the TV?
How do you find the weight of this console? Does it get a bit heavy with extended gameplay?
About how may PC Engine/Turbografx-16 are pre installed

does the rg350m come with preinstalled games?
Yes, but what is in it tends to vary by vender.
Does this come with roms
please make a video updating the firmware

Would of been nice to see if this thing could handle Sega Dreamcast.
It cannot. I hear in the next gen maybe. There are handhelds that do though, such as the RK2020.

Might go 10 - 90 on that!

I have a weird question, are there viruses in these chinese hand held gaming systems? Is it safe? Thanks for answering.
Some android handhelds have malware pre-installed, but this one is based on OpenDingux, which so far as I have seen does not.
