Thank you Sir, thank you for watching! There is a newer version, the RG351 but I enjoy them both. The RG351M will play some DC, N64 and PSP games which you won't be able to play on the RG350M. Neither devices are perfect, but both are great devices. If you want the RG351M, you may be able to cancel your order if you're interested in the other platforms. Hope this helps!

Appreciate the video. What I'd love to see is an RG-280m with the 480 screen of the 350m. Ideally, for my tastes, it'd have no analog sticks at all (but all 4 trigger buttons). :)

Did you find much difference in the way you held it with the sticks being located slightly differently? Which was more comfortable? 👍
Not much difference, honestly. I had been used to the stick in the upper-left and thought I might have issues with it being moved to the lower-left but nope it's comfortable. I won't say that I prefer this orientation, I know others have told me that the original RG350 (not the M) orientation was a deal breaker for them. Personally, doesn't matter much to me.
what is the max external storage card that you can use/expand this device to
Great video. I'm tempted on getting the RG350 but I don't know if getting this one or the (just announced) P version, which is just the 350M but in plastic and with the original RG350's screen. How big is the impact on the battery with that 640x480 screen compared to the original RG350? There's no way it's keeping the estimated 6 hours from the original version.
I went with the Manufacturers statement here. I've heard a 25% reduction in battery life with the 350M, but not so sure that's the case. My RG350M holds a charge very well. Maybe at some point in the future I'll do a battery drain test, not in my immediate plans however.

Hello all. I have a RG350 setup with HDMI, but my monitor doesn't have any buildin speakers. Is there another way to get sound hookedup? Just wondering if this possible. Thanks
Does your monitor have an audio out option, a 3.5mm audio jack by chance? From what I understand, once you hook up the HDMI the audio will be carried over HDMI at that point. Perhaps you could try a TV/Monitor that has built-in speakers if there is one available.

But anyway, can i ask you how you got Robotron to work on these devices, especially with twin sticks, IE: which emulator did you use? and which Rom set if its on Mame.
I managed to get my favourite Arcade twin stick shooter to work, Battlezone - i must try that on HDMI, as the display on this unit is way too small.

Thanks Wagner, I finally got Robotron to play with twin sticks, brilliant, the one thing I didn't do was scan for new roms, with start, that's why I couldn't find my games.

So if you already have a 350, it’s not really worth the upgrade. I’m curious, do those low profile thumb sticks you put in the 350 make the sticks feel any better in the 350m?
I like them both. I have the red+black RG350 with the Sakura sticks and I like the design and feel of them. Since they are resin printed, they have a nice textured durable feel. The RG350M sticks are a very nice design too and both are equal (IMO). If you *already* have the modded sticks on the RG-350 and looking for this to be the reason to upgrade, then IMO I would say this one feature alone wouldn't be the reason to do it.
Very good video mate.I followed eta prime’s tutorial to install the firmware for the HDMI update but now I get nothing at all, just a blank screen! I wiped the os card and tried to reinstall the os from the rg site but I can’t get it to work because I don’t know what to do.It say that there is no partition.Can you help please? Thank you
Hi Sam, thank you Sir! My guess is that you're using a new microSD card, correct? If so, the partition may not have been resized or not done correctly. I documented everything I did here for backup/restore/partition sizing here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Replace_Firmware_microSD_with_a_Larger_One (there are 2 other options hat don't involve a Raspberry Pi, I just wanted to try that route and it worked great). Great review! Through Amazon, I bought a new RG350M unit in Nov. 2020. Everything works great except the XMAME emulator. Only one game (Hook World) is playable. Using the toggles, I found all MAME games directory, but they are not highlighted therefor not playable. BTW, MAME4ALL emulator doesn't seem to be included and/or loaded in the unit I received. Any solution? Thanks

Hey, man, can you test Dino Crisis 2 on the RG 350M. Because with mine, during the cut scene, the characters disappear. You can only see the background and the characters talking. They comeback during gameplay. Can you test that game on yours and tell me if you have the same result?

Are there audio glitches running Mortal Kombat 2 or 3 on PocketSNES?
I don't have those two games on my RG-350m but in-general, 98% of the SNES game plays well from what I've seen. You may want to verify though by posting your question here: www.reddit.com/r/RG350
We're is the battery indicator while gaming? In case the gaming is to good and you don't want to loose your level..
The battery indicator can be seen on the home/menu screen (lower-right) but not in-game. Although, if I remember correctly, the power LED which is green when the power is on may change to yellow/red when the battery is low. I honestly can't remember 😬
I have the hdmi already installed direct out of the box
But i have no sound on tv?
This is the 2nd time I've heard this issue. May be that the patch that was pre-installed was buggy, not sure. I'd recommend posting this question here: www.reddit.com/r/RG350/ Mine didn't have the patch, I installed it so I can't really answer your question. You could install the latest version of the HDMI patch and see if that fixes the issue. It should.

Nice video! I recently bought a RG350M. It’s beautiful, but mine drains from a full charge in half an hour :/ Customer service isn’t very helpful. Tells me to get a battery from aliexpress or amazon neither of which ships to my location.
Do you know what battery I need to get and if I can install it without soldering? I need to get from ebay.

I just bought the console 350m, I bought the mini hdmi cable only connected to my tv it doesn't work it tells me "unsupported mode, change resolution on the external device" something like that, I tried to decrease the refresh rate but nothing, anyone knows how to solve the problem? second problem i have problems with the xmame. thank you so much!

Do you know where I can get the original firmware again, to reinstall it to my rg350m?

great site :-) I just got my RG350M... Haven't opened it yet as it for my son. Is this thing already charged? Or do you need to this with the USB cable? when red led is off its fully charged. How long does this take the fist time? Thanks in avanced.

Did you order from Tomtop? How long did it take to get your order? Where are you located? Asking cause I want to order but I don't want to wait 2+ months for it. I'm in Texas.

Do you consider this console to be heavy? Do you think it might be difficult with long gaming sessions? Was wondering if you knew of any holders I could use - especially when laying down to avoid hand fatigue.
It is a little heavy, but IMO not too heavy. It's metal so there is some weight to it. I guess I’m just wanting to alleviate some of the weight if possible. I purchased this because the screen was too good to pass up. Is it a lot heavier than the RG350p?
No problem. I don't have the RG350p, but rather the original RG350 (which is of course P as well). It's about 30% heavier if I recall correctly. I think the last link may be something you would be more interested in while laying in bed (with the grips), the other two are mostly for displaying the unit when not in use. Keep in mind, I haven't tried the stand with the grips, however.

I’ve been attempting to use the Neo Geo Pocket emulator with no luck. With nes, snes and Sega, you hit select and edit however there isn’t that option for the NG and NGP (race). How do I find where the files should go?
I haven't used the Pocket version of the NeoGeo emulator in quite sometime (NeoGeo emulator, is a different story I play that one more frequently). You might want to ask your question here: www.reddit.com/r/RG350 for a faster response. Sorry I'm not much help at this point.

Where you put the roms, doesn't matter much. Just copy them to your EXT (right) microSD in a subfolder /ROMS/NEOGEO. Then, when you launch the emulator, you may (or may not) see a list of games. Press the ".." multiple times until you see a folder called "media", then "sdcard", then "ROMS" (if you created this one) and then "NEOGEO". That's pretty much it.
I have a question, do you think it is worth buying this unit if one already has a 350?
It's a subjective question, what I think is important may not be the same to you. I typically avoid stating you should do this, get that, etc. The screen looks great, the metal shell is awesome (it screams a quality device and the weight is great). I really appreciate the fact that the INT microSD card is on the bottom-left. It makes things much easier for me, others may care less about that. Hopefully the next model will upgrade the CPU and maintain this design. I didn't answer your question directly, but hopefully indirectly.

I've not played it myself, but it appears supaplex is a DOS game. For that, DOSBOX or Ports would likely be an option for you.

Is it possible to use a controller with this?
Depends if the emulator supports OTG. Stella (Atari) seems to work fine, there may be other updated emulators that support external controllers. I seem to recall one for GB/GBA but haven't tried it.
I'm confused between this and rk2020 or Retroid pocket 2? Which one is the best?
I can't comment on the RP2, I don't have one yet (being shipped though). I have my own opinion, but really depends on what type of games you want to play. If you want to play only up to PS1, RG350M is great and a solid product with great community support. If you want to play Dreamcast/PSP and N64 (albeit with sound issues/slowdown from time to time) and have a Linux machine/VM for transferring the games then RK2020 (see this, there are other issues: ua-cam.com/video/WtU7QEuTQUU/v-deo.html ). But, again don't have the RP2 so can't comment on that. Anyways, hope this helps.
samy the retroid pocket 2 plays more systems like n64 and Dreamcast but has input lag which is a deal breaker for me. The rg350 is the best machine ive ever owned for ps1 and earlier hands down. I’m waiting for anbernic to release a more powerful version that can handle n64 and dc, combined with the build quality and open source community of the rg350 that thing would be perfection

Totally up to you. I still recommend it, without a backup should anything go wrong with your firmware (INT) microSD it will be more time consuming to get it all setup again.

TomTop sent this unit for me to review. From the date they notified me that it shipped to the date it arrived, it was 19 days (includes weekends).

Can you search for a game over all emulators? And maybe save it to favourites?
You can press the Select button, type in the name of the game and it will provide a filtered list. From there, you can select a game and add it as a favorite.
Why would you encode the video as 240p for a 480p device?
Good question, because that's the only setting that would work properly/smoothly during my testing. Give it a try, make adjustments and if you find a setting that works/looks better let me know and I'll update the tips page.
Can anyone tell me if the RG350m comes with games pre installed???
Depends on where you order it. The one TomTop shipped me (here wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#RG-350M_and_the_Classic_RG-350 ) came with 2500 games pre-installed.

My first choice is Samsung, I tested a number of different capacities as you can see here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Will_a_256GB_or_512GB_microSD_work . I've lately been using Gigastone microSD cards which I can get a 5 pack of 128GB cards for less than $80. Since I'm frequently trying different things, it was a little more economical for me to start using them and I've had no issues with either Samsung or Gigastone cards. Hope this helps!

I've replaced my internal microSD with a 128GB Samsung microSD and don't have any issues. My guess is that perhaps after re-imaging the new cards, the partition wasn't expanded to take advantage of the full capacity of the card? Not sure if you've seen this: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Installing_ROMs , basically it tells you how/where to copy your games. Down below that is a video on how to copy games to your RG350 as well. Let me know if this solves your problem. Main thing is, make sure you have the right romset for the type of emulator you want to use (i.e. MAME4All). For PS1, it would be faster to pop out the external microSD card and plug it into your computer then copy the games to \ROMS\PSX since those games are typically quite large. Hope this helps!

When I download a romset, I put it in a folder named by what it is I downloaded. Just makes it easier for me. I am going to dive deep into your vids later to learn more since I just received my RG350M myself. In the mean time if anybody can help me..... Has anybody been able to access any of the included ROMs with the installed XMAME emulator? For some reason I can’t seem to launch any. I don’t have a problem launching games with the console emulators but I really want to play arcade games. I’m a newbie when it comes to emulators and roms and am not sure where to find the info I need. There is so much info online but it’s kinda overwhelming. I still need to learn the basics, like where to find and download good arcade roms and how to better navigate Open Dingux, and I just really need to figure out what the issue is with XMAME and why I can’t seem to launch any ROMs with it on my RG350M. When I press “A” nothing happens and pressing “start” takes me back to the main Open Dingux menu. Any tips or help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Nick, I typically only use XMAME for those games that require dual sticks (like Robotron 2084, etc.), got a video and instructions here that will help: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Dual_Stick_Gameplay_with_XMAME . For all the other classic games, I use MAME4All . Might want to check out the video and tips below it here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Interesting_Tips . Hard to say for sure if it was pre-installed. I do have it on my unit and it "may" have come pre installed however I've added some games to the unit so I can't be 100% sure.

Great question, wish I had a solid answer for you. I play all of them, it's really up to your own preference. You may want to ask this question here: www.reddit.com/r/RG350/ for more answers. It really depends on the system you want to play and there are MANY to choose from. In the video during the gameplay section you'll see the name of the emulator appear (next to the space invader). So that should let you know what emulators were used (not just the system in the upper-right).
I just I could mame working without a hitch. No matter what I do I have gave up.

Are you talking about those that were pre-installed when you received the unit? If so, yes sometimes you'll get roms that weren't meant for Mame4All and many won't run. Instead, see the 8th bullet down here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Interesting_Tips This will show you how to delete your mame4all configuration. Then, copy the correct roms to your EXT microSD card for MAME4All, browse to that location and boom you should be in good shape. Very easy, once you've done it once.
