My first trip to Alton Towers was when it wasn't a theme park, just the house and grounds (oh, and a rather large model train set in a building), there was a large shallow lake that people would paddle in, but no rides. Then, along came the cork screw, wow, this was a great ride (at the time and I still loved it to the end), and the park slowly grew, and so did my visits. I've no idea how many times I've visited, too many, but not in recent years (although I hope to go next year). It's great to see the old videos, I have some others, it does bring back memories and glad to see everyone having a good time.
Goodness me, Alton Towers looks so much different in this old footage. You and your kids look like you had a good time! By the way, 1996 is the year I was born!
Thank you so much for sharing this footage. I'm a huge fan of the park and although I'm quite a bit younger than your children (I was born in 1993), I still remember going on Corkscrew, Black Hole, Bone Shaker and Haunted House minus the laser quest. This footage his had it flooding back, especially what you got of the Corkscrew. Looks like you all had a fantastic day!
Im so very glad you uploaded this. This is - as Peter Lambert says - very rare footage. I've posted this on Reddit /r/themepark to try and give it some more publicity because it deserves it. :)
1996 is the year I was born LOL Now look at me, a 24 year old men wathing some randon video that UA-cam recomends me :D Oh, by the way, the Thunder Looper is in a park close to my town in São Paulo - Brazil.
I don’t know why, but lately I’ve been interested in Alton Towers history, pls tell me you see the bookworm, it would be sooo cool to see him when he was brand new, not in restoration stage
Hi! I'm creating a documentary about the history of the Blackhole. Would you mind me using some of this footage in my video. Full credit will be given on the video and a link to your channel in the description. Thanks!

This is very rare footage and it's great to see more of the Haunted House when it was relatively new. I love those old sound effects!
