- If you have ever been lucky enough to have a look around the incredible Mansion at the Alton Towers resort then you will already know how incredible it is! Wile on a day out at the theme park we asked if we could have a look inside the derelict statley home but unfortunately the first member of staff said no.. but the second member of staff we spoke to told us a way in and as long as nobody els sees us go in we should be fine. So with that in mind we went and had a look… and all I can say is what we found inside was absolutely amazing! We even found one of there old Halloween scare mazes inside! Hopefully one day the resort can open back up the doors for everybody els to enjoy, for now i hope you enjoy my little walk around inside one of Britains most famous Theme Parks!.. 🙂

All the contents of the house were auctioned off over 10 days in January 1924 - My grandad was there, I still have the original catalogue with the sale prices penciled in. Later on just about everything was gutted out right down to the windows, lead flashing the lot. What you are seeing is set dressing from a former attraction.
Love to see the catalogue
Alton Towers is one of my fave places. The Towers is used for Scarefest mazes and some areas are open for the public to freely walk around. Not many people are aware that you can do that. The ride Hex talks about a cursed tree that can be seen in the village of Alton it self. There is so much more to Alton Towers than just a theme park.
This place is beautiful! I could be there forever!
They still use it for Halloween specials as part of scarefest. Such a beautiful building though, it's a huge shame it's not restored to something more meaningful.
I used to enjoy walking through the towers so it’s such a shame that they no longer allow it.
Lol none of that stuff is old they are all props.
Most of the props were used in the Tower Maze at Scarefest 2024. Very cool
The sounds of screaming people in the background really adds to the explore.... beautiful place ✨
What a beautiful castle. I certainly hope it gets restored. Wow, so cool. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video....the National Trust should buy and restore this!
Great videos! My husband fitted alarm systems at Alton Towers. The building you are in is just full of props, but if you want a real scare and an explore, find a way into the cellars. That's where Merlin entertainment, Tussauds store the waxworks not currently on display, or they did. Really creepy! Keep exploring!
Thank you very much for the video. I love it and the beautiful house.💖💖
That was a brilliant experience seeing all that's left. Thanks for sharing
What a lovely house hope it gets renovated to its former glory can't wait for your next video
Thank you bearded explorer. That was awesome I have been to Alton towers many times but never been in the house . Totally awesome
Loved this one!! Was such an awesome explore 😆
Wow that was absolutely amazing Colin please do more like this x all the props were amazing too x stay safe ❤x
I felt it was likely items for scene setting before you got to that scary haunted house bit. Not that old which I'm pretty sure you'd have realised much quicker if you'd not been so tight for time but those items are so perfect for setting up the scene. I do miniature dioramas, it's all about the props 😊 What a fantastic place, I'm so glad that you got in to film, it's incredible. I went to Alton Towers not long after it opened in the early 80s. A friends birthday, I was probably about nine, 5 or 6 of us, all piled into a small car. The only thing I remember is on the way back, one of our friends was incredibly sick and proceeded to be so for the long journey home 😞 That's the only thing I remember of the outing and it's the only theme park I've ever been too as well! It sounds like you'd a considerably better visit than I did 😂😊
What a magnificent building Colin. Hope they aes going to renovate it xx
Witam fajny materiał.👍👍👍 Pozdrawiam, i nie mogę doczekać się kolejnego odcinka.🖐👊😁
Wow! Your so lucky to have had the opportunity to explore here. Great video. Looks amazing! 😊😊
Its so beautiful a really big mansion
I use to ride my bike there when i lived in Longford i now live in Mexico but love you blogs and i reallly like that you put the things back where you got them fro some bloggers do not and once i see that i do not watch them again,
This was amazing thank you for sharing, what a outstanding building loved it 👏 ❤️
oh my gawddd! what a stunning building! such a shame it isn't lived in/used - all the better for us I guess 😅 castles are the best! They should restore it to what it would have been like when it was built & lived in, make it one of the attractions, have educational interactive rooms like kitchens, games room and stuff where visitors can get involved with tasks as they would have been done back when it was lived in/built. Like i step back in time, all the staff in old clothes and stuff - that would be so cool!
Alton Towers was the home of the Talbot family, Earls of Shrewsbury. It was built between about 1810 and 1852. The 15th Earl began adapting an existing 16th or 17th century house, Alveton (Alton) Lodge, in about 1810.
Hi Colin & Ashley. Hope your doing good.
That was an awesome video. I thought you two were going to get lost in that maze.
Stay safe.
That was an excellent explore Colin the things that were left behind are so amazing, do more explores like that love it thank you ❤xx
You will have to return when you have more time and a light. I would love to see more, it’s quite amazing.
Such an amazing place with lots of history. Still needs lots of care and attention.
so lucky you both were in getting in. You found my coffin!!, been looking for that
That house was where the haunted section used to be. Hence, all the kids' toys and rocking horses . It was creepy back then when it was open.
Cool walk around Colin Alton towers an all 👍
Well done Colin 🙌🏻
You made the best of what you were given 😉😍
I'm amazed. I used to wander around the house in the 1970s and none of this stuff was there then. Maybe i missed it. Or maybe somebody is taking the P . You make most haunted seem legit.
So beautiful❤️👍😍
Hi Sir.. I love your exploring videos it's always awesome.😊🙏. I'm fan of yours. Seems today's video is interesting too.. Loads of love from India ❤
Another great video Colin I think you'll find but when the main house was closed that may have for a care taker and they've never got round to removing it a lot of valuable stuff there all the best my friend take out keep safe as always Tony and Helen❤❤❤
That abandoned building and greenhouse in gloomy wood..i might do explore of it next year x
Amazing place great video
Good one guys keep it up 😊
Nice Mansion would love to buy it and refurbish it. If I ever win the Lottery but nice video My bearded Friend.😎👍🙌
Awesome video
Amazing!!!
Cool Colin ive been there but never got into the mansion lucky Colin 👍😎
That place is so cool!
Howdy Colin & Ashley nice to see you again . Love the hole video i thot you were stuck inside and posibly stay there for the night. Love those Paintings yes they were from that old Castle. Take care and see you on the next adventure cheers friend Barbara from NWPFL. USA baby
I live 10 minutes drive from there. Last time I visited there was the late 70s when a stage of the Lombard RAC rally used some of the grounds. For all the money the towers make that place deserves to be completely renovated and used.
Another great video Colin, what a place that is would be amazing if and when restored. Glad you got out on time otherwise would have to carry on into next weeks video lol! Great commentary as usual Colin always really makes the video.Look forward to next weeks.Take care.😀
Unfortunately it would be in the billions to restore, Merlin don't have that sort of capital so would require a huge grant from the government.
All of the items you see are props and set pieces from the Alton Towers scare mazes, most of which are temporarily built within the Towers ruins. Unfortunately, besides the ruins themselves, there's very little left inside the house. It is sad that they're no longer open for most of the year.
Amazing mansion. Looks to house some items of value.
the contents is all scarefest props
so cool and so sad it is not being taken care of
love it
I love alton towers. Always been a fan of the building so elegant. Looks like you and alton towers have worked together letting you film inside especially with it being scarefest opening this weekend great job
You my friend you are a geeza what a fantastic explore have you thought about doing something with urbex hill
Looks like props from The Hex ride, is it still in operation, Ive not been for years
I swear I saw this stuff and house in scarefest maybe 7 years ago approx
I went through that scarefest maze about 7 years ago could remember alot from what i saw
Alway wanted to go in this house ever since I was a child.
Before the theme park was built people would visit the gardens & House wich was pretty much just a shell. The house was called The Towers. 1n the mid to late 50's my dad was the catering manager for the 2-3 cafe's situated in the gardens & lived in a small bungalow on site.He would often tell me the house was haunted by "the gray lady" l don't know if it's something he made up to scare his relatives when they went to visit and stay over. I haven't been through there for about 30 yrs so thanks for the video x
My grandad was the master potter at Alton Towers from the 50s until he retired. I'm pretty sure he and your dad would have known each other.
That looks like Halloween set up, have to say it a big place, I’m sure someone got spooked lol
They will be from the Scare fest me and my sister have been through parts of the house great video though 👍
I think they're all props tbh. That suit of armour looks nothing like a real one unfortunately. Great video none the less.
Isnt that the manor?.....
Great ecplore❤
Set dressings and props from the ghost ride that was short lived within the towers. When I say ride, you had to walk through.
Sorry mate, it's all Halloween props
What are you talking about props.
😂😂
They hold a scarefest maze in the house, they are all props
Yep all those are props.
It's why it's been closed all season as they couldn't be bothered to move them from 2022.
😂 Ooooops
Another great video. I have been there a few times, it was nice that you found some regional items belonging to the house. The ride props too. It’s a shame the house became soo derelict and hope they can restored or sone of it to its regional state.
Don't they turn this place into a haunted attraction for the Halloween season? :)
Any vids on the campervan u bought ?
Such an amazing place. Its a shame you didn,t have longer there. Lovely to see all the things in there. Great job guys👍
They use this as a walk around terror in the towers at Halloween
Ive only been to Alton Towers twice a long time ago, can't remember this. If only you could have stayed longer, maybe another time? But Loved this video Colin. Fingers crossed that they do save it.
I will never understand why they leave valuable items in these abandoned/ forgotten buildings. Thanks for sharing. 😊
How long did it take you to get back out ?
That candle stand isn’t very old. If you look it’s welded. It’s probably all props?
Think youve just found some props for scarefest
Is the mansion open to the public???
Amazing. You need to go back have a better look around.
Genuine question, can you get in trouble for tress passing and showing your identity?
Great vid, but I'm guessing all the stuff is just props for when visitors were allowed in.
It was all part of the old x ride thats why the stuff is there and it's dark
looks like its been used as a film set.
I watch this video on Sunday the 8th of October 23
Good video. But i see a lifetime Merlin Attractions ban incoming for you both.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮
On the written description a spelling mistake " nobody els " instead of " else " sorry to be a pain, but when I worked for the NHS we had to proff read things
Quick question guys. Does anyone remember the video in the hospital where he saw, or thinks he saw a ghost and he scarpered? I remember seeing it and thought myself there was something there and it made me jump just watching it. Help me out please.
Alton towers is 37 years old it opened in 1980 - 2017
Original armour...as in Victorian original unfortunately, not medieval....the Victorians were obsessed with the ideal of chivalry, most stately homes had a suit of armour, but all reproductions.
Yeah mostly props😅
There are random bits from a scare maze not Alton towers sadly.
It looks like they are building a new attraction in there only you & your girlfriend have showed us a sneak preview😅
you would think that with the prices they charge to get in they would easily afford to repair it wouldnt you. After all it is part of the adverts and posters they use to sell you the tickets. How long as Alton towers theme park been going. it just goes to show where there prioritys lie
You should have stayed the night 👻
Don't you plan things out then because I will have taken the talk to me just in case
Why with all the money they make ant they restore it ???
This is a staged tour you can pay to get in and walk around. The items left are props.
What? You can pay to walk around the towers?
All that stuff isn't original , it's props for the Halloween, terror in the towers (sorry to bust your bubble )
UA-cam hates ADBLOCKER 🤣
Got to be the most cringy explorer on UA-cam
No wonder not been open 4 ages, soo terrible
OMG. How thick? This is all props and not original. Seriously.
They say it is haunted house
Sorry mate. Too many pointless adverts. Switched off
