I so enjoy watching you swatch, Elisabetta with your soothing voice in my most favorite accent on this earth! ❤
Thank you Nancy! I understand my accent is is a pro (I always considered it a disadvantage 😂)
A comparison between English Red and Venetian Red sounds like a very good idea for a video.
Great! I’m not the only one who finds it confusing 😀
Absolutely agree!
@@WatercolorElisabetta I never quite understood the difference between them. And I never noticed that British manufacturers use the term light red. It never occurred to me that light red might just be English Red. I could be wrong though, W&N’s English Red I’d rather like a reddish ochre.
@awatercolourist this is what I read….a clarifying video is needed !! 😂
These reds are gorgeous ☺☺
I must agree 😀😀 thank you!
Love Love Love the earth reds! Also the umbers and ochres. I've been on a transparent red oxide kick lately. There's something special about where the pigments are sourced and the energy of the land. You might like Roman Szmal's Blue Ridge Raw and Burnt Sienna from the mountains where I live here in the US! I really like the Pompeii Red that you swatched, maybe because of the granulation. I bet the English Reds are sourced in England. Just a guess. I know there is Leister and another source there that I can't recall. 😊 This pigment collecting is quite a hobby 😂 There's something very primal about it. I'd love to see any comparisons you do! Great video! ❤
At the moment I'm enamored with M. Graham's Transparent Red Oxide, an incredible mixer, and Armenian Mummy Red from Arkaar. Also Michael Harding's Burnt Sienna and Yellow Ochre, but that's another rabbit hole 🐇😅
Fantastic comment Vati!! I will look into the transparent red. Yes….rabbit hole is the perfect definition 😰😂. Have a lovely weekend!
What a very useful idea for a video! Thanks for making this video!
Thank you so much!! I’m in love with these reds …
Mummy Transparent Red glows off the paper!
Yeees! It’s wonderful
I have the R/S caput mortuum, it’s a gorgeous colour. I say yes to all the comparisons!
😂😂❤️I know Sonya you are in favour!!
The swatches are soo clear . Great video..thank you..😊
Thank you so much!! Very very kind!
roman szmal earths are my fave~ lovely video as always :)
Thank you!!! Same to you of course ❤️🌺
Beautiful colors all! PR 102 I've not used before but after seeing your excellent video, I will definitely check them out!🌸🤗
Hi! It was unknown for me too…I’m in love now! Thank you!
Lovely colors! If you hadn’t heard, you can put the pans in the freezer for a few minutes before you open them to prevent the sticking
Yes! 10 minutes in the freezer works well for me too.
This is brilliant! Thank you! I did not know! ❤️
Thank you so much, I really loved the mixes as I didn‘t know how versatile this colour is!❤️😊
Thank you!! It’s a very interesting pigment 😄
Thank you! I love your videos, yes please more comparisons and mixing. :)
Yes, they are fun! Thank you for your comment 😀
Very interested in the future comparison video❤
Thank you for your feedback!! Stay tuned 💕
I never cared for any of the earth colors when I first started watercolors....actually, any opaque or semi opaque paints. 😂 I now find them to be some of the most interesting pigments available. Thank you for sharing these, and I would enjoy other PR101 and PR102 comparisons in the future. Your mixes are always beautiful. 😍🥰
Dear Tracy, I followed exactly your same path!! ❤️
@WatercolorElisabetta our wallets, too.🤣 😊
😂😂😂😂 my wallet and watercolor are not best friends
You always teach me something new! Those mixes are lovely. Thank you.
Lindy thank you so much !! Have a great weekend 😄
Those orange ochres are gooooooorgeous. I love them. I would use them as the only orange color in my palette. I must say though, I know RS are trying to expand their selection, but so many of their colors seem so similar to me.
I have the Venetian Red pigment, and it separates out from the binder so fast. It is better to use it from the pan. I do love it, though. I agree that sticky and soft paints are nicer to paint with. I hate scrubbing pans. I also have red ochre, but I didn't make it yet so don't know what it looks like. I will check your video again once I have everything.
Thanks for the video as always
Thank to you for the long interesting message! It’s grate to hear experiences from other people 😄
Hi Elisabetta! Another one for me to watch with my morning tea! Have a good night and Happy Spring! xo
Hello Michele! I hope you will enjoy it 💕
@@WatercolorElisabettaI loved it! (it was a two mug video!). Since I am not the biggest fan of Quin. Gold, I am thinking Mummy Transparent Red might be a perfect substitute for me. When I walked back to the screen from pouring more tea, the Mummy Transparent Red absolutely glowed! xoxo
I used to have an English Red in my Akademie Palette and I have Burnt Sienna in my large Horadam Palette (both PR101; I don't think Schmincke use PR102 at all in the Horadam range), but not in my "favourites" palette and I do miss having a red earth pigment. Like you say, it's great for mixing! :)
It’s an acquired taste, red earth…. Thank you for your comment!
Thanks for this. I'd be most interested in a comparison. My favourites- out of a ridiculously large collection- are W & N Light Red PR 102 and M.Graham Terra Rosa PR 101. I find some of the Venetian Reds too opaque as mixers and many of the English Reds are too orange for my tastes.
I will see you soon with them!! I’m glad to know you have a ridiculously large collection as well 😰😰 😂❤️❤️ thank you for your comment!
@@WatercolorElisabetta My excuse is that aiming toward a limited palette that truly expresses my subject/style/vision each colour has to be exactly right for me, not just in shade but also in handling, formulation and reliability. That's the theory anyway, even if my curiosity often leads to excess !
I can't tell the difference between English, Indian and Venetian reds. They are the same to me, so I would be very interested in a video about it. Thank you very much again
Neither can I !! 🥹 stay tuned!!
